We usually think of scientific discoveries as breakthroughs of the distant past—Isaac Newton’s law of universal gravitation, or Charles Darwin striking on the concept of natural selection. But scientific discoveries are happening all the time, with the world as we understand it being reconsidered and revised every day, often without our even realizing it happened.

That has certainly been true the last couple decades, in which scientists have struck on some surprising findings and changed our view of the world in ways large and small. Here are 30 of them. A Pluto-Sized Planet

In 2005, scientists discovered the second-largest dwarf planet in the solar system. With a mass about 27% larger than Pluto (though a diameter slightly smaller), and about three times farther from the Sun than Pluto, it was spotted during routine observations at California’s Palomar Observatory which also found that it had one moon. A Super Earth

If a dwarf planet doesn’t seem that impressive, how about a “super Earth?” That was a finding by scientists who reported finding a planet about 1.6 times the size of earth, about 200 light-years from Earth that may be able to sustain life. Named K2-155d (not the catchiest title), it revolves around a superhot dwarf star and the researchers believe it may contain liquid water on its surface.

Fast Radio Burst

No, this isn’t a term for short, loud radio commercials. First discovered in 2007, these are quick signals from space, which may be signals coming from collapsing black holes, energy from something called cosmic strings, or even alien messages. As Smithsonian explains, researchers now believe “that the bursts likely pass through a field of magnetized plasma, altering the signal.”

That process, called Faraday rotation, “twists” the polarization of certain radio frequencies in a certain way. Researchers found that the twist on FRB 121102 is 500 times greater than that found on any other FRB, which means the signals had to pass through an incredibly powerful, highly magnetic dense plasma field.

Memory Manipulation

It seems like a sci-fi movie, but neuroscientists in 2014 figured out how to implant false memories. The duo manipulated a mouse’s brain cells, encoding the memory of receiving a shock when placed in a small metal box. Though it never actually received a shock, when placed in the box, the mouse with the implanted memory reacted in fear. Grid Cells

In 2005, researchers Edvard Moser and May-Britt Moser discovered grid cells in the brain—a kind of neuron that allows us to map out space. The New York Times helpfully explains the significance of these: “Imagine that you are watching a rat running around on a floor completely covered with hexagonal tiles, all the same size. Every time the rat passes the point of one of the 60-degree angles, you press a button to send out an electrical signal. A Computer Chip That Imitates the Human Brain

As we move ever closer to The Singularity, IBM helped us take a significant step forward in 2014, with the release of the SyNAPSE computer chip, which simulates the firing of synapses done by a person’s brain (the chip contained 5.4 billion transistors while consuming 10,000 times less power than a more conventional computer chip, all the size of a postage stamp).

“There is the potential here to really open up a spree of tremendous innovation,” Dharmendra Modha, chief scientist of brain-inspired computing at IBM, told The Guardian. He gave the example of a phone that could understand where it is, who is speaking and what are doing.

The Ability to Control A Mechanical Hand With Thoughts

Like something out of a Marvel movie, Italian amputee Pierpaolo Petruzziello was outfitted in 2009 with a biomechanical hand that connected to his arm nerves with wires and electrodes—and which he was able to control by thinking about it. It was the first time a patient was able to make such complex movements with nothing but their mind.

Termite-Inspired Robots

Termites usually bring to mind disaster for homebuilding, but a team of Harvard researchers used the cooperative interactions of termites (which build complex soil structures by taking cures from one another and the surrounding environment) as the inspiration for designing robots, equipping them with sensors that allowed them to respond to their surroundings and other robots, without the need for human supervision.

As LiveScience explains, “This type of collective intelligence also means the same instructions can be carried out by a small team of five robots, or a much larger crew of 500, the researchers said. In the future, similar robotic systems could be used for construction projects deemed too dangerous for humans, or for simple construction tasks on Mars, the researchers said.”

Strong Evidence of Liquid on Mars

Dark streaks on the planet Mars, disappearing and reappearing depending on the season, were spotted first in 2010 by a University of Arizona undergraduate and is now believed to be the result of flowing, liquid saltwater.

“A big question swirls around the origin of that water: Where is it coming from?” asks National Geographic. “One possibility is that the seeps are fueled by an aquifer or melting subsurface ice. These scenarios would have Mars essentially sweating, with saltwater seeping from its pores and trickling down slopes as the planet warms.”

Turning Regular Cells Into Stem Cells

Stem cells are important for health and biological research since they can turn into any other type of cell in your body—white blood cells, nerve cells, you name it. But it was not until 2006 that we learned that any cell can be reprogrammed into a stem cell. That discovery, by Shinya Yamanaka, was a major breakthrough for regenerative medicine.

Human Genome Project

Mapping and identifying every gene in the human genome was a massive project with major implications for medicine, biology, and genetics, formally begun in 1990 and completed in 2003, but stretching long before and after.

TRAPPIST-1

NASA researchers recently identified a system of seven Earth-sized planets orbiting a single star—three of which were located in the “habitable zone” where a planet is most likely to have liquid water. It was called TRAPPIST-1, named for The Transiting Planets and Planetesimals Small Telescope.

“This discovery could be a significant piece in the puzzle of finding habitable environments, places that are conducive to life,” said Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator of the agency’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington, at the time. “Answering the question ‘are we alone’ is a top science priority and finding so many planets like these for the first time in the habitable zone is a remarkable step forward toward that goal.”

Gravitational Waves

Albert Einstein predicted in his Theory of General Relativity that mass actually curves space-time, but it wasn’t until 2016 that scientists were able to confirm it, when CalTech researchers observed these ripples—created during what the researchers called a “cataclysmic event in the distant universe”—likely during the “merger of two black holes to produce a single, more massive spinning black hole.” It marked the first observation of gravitational waves and a confirmation of Einstein’s theory a century after he suggested it.

The Oldest Art in the World

Through radiocarbon dating, scientists in 2014 determined that cave paintings in the Maros district of Sulawesi, Indonesia were older than previously believed—dating back about 40,000 years. That made its depiction of an ancient “pig-deer” or babirusa the oldest figurative art in the world.

Reusable Rockets

That mad genius Elon Musk has found a way to reuse and recycle rockets after sending them into space, landing them safely on a barge in the ocean—saving the billions of dollars it costs to fully replace such technology and taking us a step closer to affordable space travel.

Genome Sequencer 20 System

While the Human Genome Project gets much of the attention, the work of Jonathan Rothberg and his 454 Life Sciences biotech company is also plenty important—the effort to make human genome sequencing affordable enough that doctors could use it as a diagnostic tool. It was able to sequence vastly more DNA data for a fraction of the price compared to the previous methods and it helped pave the way for more widespread gathering and use of genetics data.

Higgs Boson

Also known as the “God Particle,” its importance is summed up well by Stephen Reucroft of Northeastern University: “Over the past few decades, particle physicists have developed an elegant theoretical model (the Standard Model) that gives a framework for our current understanding of the fundamental particles and forces of nature. One major ingredient in this model is a hypothetical, ubiquitous quantum field that is supposed to be responsible for giving particles their masses (this field would answer the basic question of why particles have the masses they do–or indeed, why they have any mass at all). This field is called the Higgs field. As a consequence of wave-particle duality, all quantum fields have a fundamental particle associated with them. The particle associated with the Higgs field is called the Higgs boson.”

And, to a certainty of 99.999%, it was discovered in 2012.

Large Hadron Collider

The reason physicists and engineers were able to find the Higgs boson was that they were using the Large Hadron Collider, the most powerful particle collider in the world, as well as the largest, first tested in 2008 and it has since been upgraded with better detectors and pre-accelerators.

Protease Inhibitors

The drug that turned the tide on HIV was first approved in 1996. Protease inhibitors prevent the virus from multiplying by getting in the way of the enzyme that otherwise permits the cells to replicate. These were a major breakthrough at the time and continue to be an important component of managing HIV/AIDS.

Cloned Mammal

It was just a little over two decades ago that we first heard of “Dolly the Sheep,” the first mammal cloned from an adult somatic cell, using nuclear transfer. The woolly creature came from three mothers—one that provided an egg, one that provided DNA, and one that carried the embryo to term—and her birth kicked up plenty of controversy when it was first announced. But she lived a long, by all accounts happy life and produced six lambs of her own.

A Black Hole That’s 12 Billion Times as Big as the Sun

 

The Sun is pretty massive, but it’s got nothing on SDSS J0100+2802. That catchy-named “hyperluminous quasar” that holds one of the most massive black holes in the universe—about 12 billion times the mass of the Sun with a diameter of 70.9 billion kilometers.

“By comparison, our own Milky Way Galaxy has a black hole with a mass of only 4 million solar masses at its center; the black hole that powers this new quasar is 3,000 times heavier,” co-author Dr Xiaohui Fan from the University of Arizona, explained in 2015 when the discovery was announced.

Toumai Skull

In 2002, researchers found the oldest hominid fossil yet discovered, in central Africa. The 7 million-year-old Sahelanthropus tchadensis was primitive, but with hominid traits such as a flat face and worn-down canine teeth. It provided insight into a possible common ancestor between apes and humans and fueled the idea that evolution had been occurring throughout Africa, rather than being localized to specific regions, as had been initially thought.

RNA Gene Switches

Researchers discovered small RNAs that serve as a kind of genetic switch, bonding to a small molecule and changing its production of proteins. It’s been a major discovery in the fields of genetics and scientists have since developed their own synthetic versions of them.

Earth’s Older Cousin

In July 2015, NASA reported that it had spotted Earth’s “bigger, older cousin.” Dubbed Kepler 452b, it is 60% larger in diameter than Earth with a temperature similar to our planet’s. NASA described the discovery of the planet and 11 other small planets as a “milestone in the journey to finding another ‘Earth.'”

A New Class of Antibiotic

As developments in antibiotics have stagnated and deaths due to antibiotic resistance have risen (to as many as 700,000 globally), the discovery of teixobactin was welcome news when announced in 2015. Through a new method, extracting drugs from dirt-dwelling bacteria, the antibiotic was found to overcome infections that other antibiotics would be unable to.

A New Species of Monkey

Who doesn’t love playful monkeys? And who wouldn’t be delighted to learn that there is a new species of monkey in the world? In June 2007, researchers found the species Cercopithecus lomamiensis, more commonly known locally as “lesula,” in central Democratic Republic of Congo—only the second new species of African monkey to be discovered in the past 30 years.

Artificial Life

One of the men behind the Human Genome Project, Craig Venter, was also involved in the creation of the first artificial organism—the genome of a bacteria that they created from scratch and is considered the “first synthetic life form.”

Artificial Womb

Up there with a fully invented life form, is the bag of fluids that imitated a womb and successfully grew a baby sheep last year. The breakthrough eliminates the health risk of pregnancy and presents a more natural environment in which premature infants can continue to develop.

Hybrid Vehicles

Electric cars had been plugging along for years, without getting much of a hold in the market—in large part due to their reputation as slow-moving and constantly in need of recharging. The launch of the Toyota Prius early in the 21^st century changed the math on this, by leveraging electricity without sacrificing the speed or comfort of gas. The world has since become much more comfortable with electric.

Human-Pig Hybrid

 

This isn’t some kind of Dr. Moreau situation—the human-pig hybrid was developed with a goal of one day allowing us to grow our own organs inside of an animal instead of relying on a donor. Human stem cells were implanted into a pig embryo and removed several weeks later for analysis. New Cancer Treatment Defies All Odds
and
Boasts an Amazing Cure Rate

There are a lot of things in the World that plague people. The most devastating illness that claims more human life is cancer. There are so many types of cancer in existence that there seems to be little hope for those with aggressive types. But there is good news circulating in the medical world indicating that a new type of treatment has been developed that carries a fantastic cure rate.

IFLScience reports that the new treatment attacks the tumors’ defenses that seem to keep the immune system from attacking the invasive growth. The treatment is so effective that every person who participated in the study had cancer that ended up in remission. Those in the trial study had advanced rectal cancer, and they never needed to have chemotherapy for eradicated cancer. They never had to go through radiotherapy or surgery to remove the growth.

Dr. Diaz is the Head of the Division of Solid Tumor Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He is also the one that wrote the stunning report. He stated that “I believe this is the first time this has happened in the history of cancer.”

There has never been a treatment that had such a fantastic cure rate.

IFLScience has also reported that “The drug in question is an anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibody named dostarlimab. PD-1 (programmed death-1) is a protein that forms a complex with PD-L1 (programmed death ligand-1) that is expressed on the outside of tumor cells. It acts as a ‘shield’ from the immune system, telling immune cells that they should not attack the tumor and allowing it to grow uncontrollably. It may sound like a wholly-unhelpful protein, but it prevents T cells from attacking other cells that they shouldn’t. Cancer cells can co-opt PD-1 for nefarious uses, allowing them to fly under the radar of the immune system.”

Cancer has a way of masking itself from being attacked by the human immune system. The new treatment breaks down cancer’s ability to hide, which allows the human body to attack the mutated cells and eliminate the threat.

IFLScience also reported that cancer is particular to every person. Current patients often have to have their treatment tailored to their specific type of cancer. But this new treatment being developed has targeted all the unique cases and sent the person into remission.

The private sector has developed the science behind the new cancer treatment. But this time around, the public has found a way to save lives.

The new treatment works by empowering the body to defend itself against a killer disease. The new drug allowed T cells to begin recognizing the mutated cancer cells, which were destroyed by the body.

The 16 people involved in the trial testing went through rigorous testing to try and determine if all the cancer was gone. Every single person in the group was found to be cancer-free by the end of the trial period. Each person was brought back in for more testing a year later, and there was no indication that the cancer had returned.

The report indicated that the side effects were minimal, ranging from rashes to tiredness. Each person in the trial had beaten an aggressive form of a deadly disease.

The human body is a fantastic creation designed to fight a lot of different diseases.

Who Was Dr. Masaru Emoto?

Dr. Masaru Emoto, the Japanese scientist who revolutionized the idea that our thoughts and intentions impact the physical realm, is one of the most important water researchers the world has known. For over 20 years until he passed away in 2014, he studied the scientific evidence of how the molecular structure in water transforms when it is exposed to human words, thoughts, sounds and intentions.

The Hidden Messages in Water

The extraordinary life work of Dr. Emoto is documented in the New York Times Bestseller, The Hidden Messages in Water. In his book, Dr. Emoto demonstrates how water exposed to loving, benevolent, and compassionate human intention results in aesthetically pleasing physical molecular formations in the water while water exposed to fearful and discordant human intentions results in disconnected, disfigured, and “unpleasant” physical molecular formations. He did this through Magnetic Resonance Analysis technology and high-speed photographs.

His research also showed us how polluted and toxic water, when exposed to to Prayer and intention can be altered and restored to beautifully formed geometric crystals found in clean, healthy water. The following photos are images of photographs of the the water in the Fujiwara Dam before and after the Reverend Kato Hoki, chief priest of Jyuhouin Temple, offered an hour long prayer over it.

How Music Affects Water?

Dr. Emoto also studied how sound affects water. The Emoto music studies demonstrate how certain types of sound, like classical music, generate beautiful crystalline patterns, while heavy metal music, generate ugly and distorted crystalline formations. In the images below you see the crystalline formation resulting from water being exposed to Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 and then in contrast what the water crystal image looks like after listening to heavy metal music.

Dr. Masaru Emoto put Water as a Living Consciousness on the map for the scientific world. He showed us how water is an energy capable of more than we ever imagined. The power human thoughts, sounds and intentions has to strengthen and disempower is one of the greatest discoveries of our time.

His work has us question, if water is affected by the words, intentions, and energies, what about human beings, who are made of mostly water? If we transform the water and thoughts we are made of, what else is possible?

There are legions of scientists who have built upon the breakthroughs of Dr. Emoto and are offering practical technologies for everyday life. One such example who we find particularly inspiring is the Austrian Engineer Bernard Ratheiser. Since 1994, he has developed devices that restructure water molecules and assist water in being its highest vibration as living energy.

Water Crystals and Structured Water

With vortexing and sacred geometry along with nature’s energies through precious stones, Bernhard Ratheiser has created a way for water to be revitalized when it passes through one of his water structuring devices. 12 of the best supplements
to fight cancer

Certain bioactive compounds, found in foods, are known to have strong epigenetic (cancer correcting) benefits. Supplements concentrate those benefits.

Dr. Young S. Kim of the National Cancer Institute studied Cancer Stem Cells (CSCs) which lie at the heart of cancers. She showed in her 2012 research that a poor diet could help CSCs re-grow into a full tumor again after chemotherapy had reduced it by even 70 per cent.

However, she also showed that certain bio-active compounds could prevent this re-growth. She talked of suforaphanes, curcumin, pipeline, vitamins A and E, genistein, theanine, choline, EGCG from green tea and others and she went on to add that you could obtain from quality supplements. Who are we to argue?

Although European and American research has shown a ´small but significant´ prevention factor (of about 7 per cent), we are not going to recommend you take a multivitamin and mineral if you already have the disease. Why? because the vitamins are usually synthetic and deficient, and the minerals include iron, which is known to HELP cancer cells thrive.

We think there are much stronger compounds to take:

1: FISH OILS
The number 1 supplement. Long chain omega 3 is essential for cellular health, control of local inflammation, longevity and much, much more. Research shows supplementation, because it is daily and dose-controlled, actually provides more benefit than eating oily fish. Fish oils reduce the risk of cachexia, and can reduce polyps, the precursors to colorectal cancer.

2: SELENIUM
Helps displace heavy metals from the body. Anti-oxidant mineral recognized more and more as essential in the fight against cancer; for example, German research shows it lowers prostate cancer risk.

3: VITAMIN E
Powerful immune system booster. But take a natural form that ideally combines all 4 tocopherols and all 4 tocotrienols. You simply cannot eat the daily quantities shown to be effective in scientific studies.

4: CHLORELLA
Rather than take vitamin A, go for superfood chlorella. People simply do not eat enough ´greens´, and chlorella is a ´super-green´. Wonderful source of both natural cis- and trans-beta-carotene, minerals and vitamin B-12, especially important if you employ a meat-free diet. This is how to get your vitamin A; your body will make what it wants from beta-carotene.

5: VITAMIN D
If you cannot get a couple of hours in the sunshine every day, you should consider supplementation of 5000IUs, as recommended by Harvard medical School. This vitamin is actually a hormone and has been shown to activate the immune system, reduce the risk of cancer and even correct cancer cells in research studies.

6: COENZYME Q10
Research shows antioxidant, anti-ageing, anti-cancer benefits levels in tissues decline as you age. Essential to your mitochondria, U.S. research clearly shows you can recapture the levels of your youth by supplementation. Max 50 mgs a day. Above is wasted.

7: GRAPE SEED EXTRACT
Shown in the American VITAL study to be the top anti-oxidant commonly available. It is an OPC, and Pine Bark Extract (another OPC but not in the research study) may be even better.

8: CURCUMIN
Equal with vitamin D and fish oils. Research shows a variety of health benefits; an anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory, this spice (Turmeric) seems to play a strong role in a number of anti-cancer pathways, and in other illnesses too. Prof. Aggarwal of MD Anderson claims he does not know a cancer it does not have a positive effect against. Take with olive oil and black pepper (pipeline) for maximum absorption.

9: B COMPLEX
B Vitamins are essential for correct cellular division and replication apart from playing a role in the nervous system and many of the senses. A  pre-cursor to diseases like Alzheimer´s and cancer has been shown to be the build up of Homocystein levels in the body. B Vitamins can keep this under control. Normally your gut bacteria MAKE your B vitamins (if you feed them fibrous foods). But after antibiotics and chemo, your gut bacteria will not be functioning properly.

10: RESVERATROL
Seems to play a prevention role in everything from dementia to strokes to cancer. It is now known to act as a pro drug with the CYP1B1 gene in cancer cells. The gene turns it in to picetannol which kills the cancer cell. Research is coming thick and fast on this natural compound found in organic red grape skins.

11. MODIFIED CITRUS PECTIN
Again, new research abounds on the abilities of this compound to block the ´velcro patches´ on the outside of cancer cells, reducing their abilities to stick to each other and to new tissues. This reduces metastases.

12. INDOLE 3 CARBINOL
I3C can convert aggressive oestradiol into a safer sister, and even modify oestrogen receptor sites on cells (much like Tamoxifen) and prevent dangerous oestrogens binding there. But it also works against non-oestrogenic cancers via the pathway. Research shows clear benefits in Triple Negative Breast Cancer.

It is important that you look for a source of naturally–sourced supplements. Many cheaper products are synthetic and limited in their content. Some research studies have indicated such synthetic products have dubious abilities. Have you ever wondered about the Spiritual world where God, angels, and demons reside?

Our fortunes and how our lives play out are dependent on what happens in the spiritual world. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin aptly observed that “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”

God has been revealing the secrets of the Spiritual world to us. Initially, it was through what we call the mystic, which is a term we loosely use for all the ethereal mysteries that we do not yet comprehend.

God then revealed the “secret things” to us through science, with the evolutionary discovery of Quantum Physics by Albert Einstein.

I have attempted to bring some of the benefits of our better understanding in some of my earlier articles (provided in the Additional Resources at the end of this article).

However, to glimpse and comprehend the Spiritual world, a basic understanding of Quantum Physics is necessary. With the secret things revealed by God, we can then begin to understand ourselves better and learn to regain control of our lives and our future.

Living in The Quantum World

It’s the world’s most famous equation, which says that “Energy equals mass times the speed of light squared.”

But what does it really mean?

On the most basic level, the equation says that energy and mass (matter) are interchangeable; they are different forms of the same thing.

Technology has progressed by leaps and bounds since Albert Einstein’s time. Armed with the Theory of Relativity and the new advances in technology, scientists came to discover the quantum universe, which happened when they began studying the sub-atomic world.

Researchers now understand that atoms are the building blocks of everything in the physical universe.

Each atom is made up of a positively charged nucleus surrounded by a large field containing one or more negatively charged electrons. This field is so large in comparison with the minuscule electrons that it appears to be a virtual “empty” space.

Before we go deeper into the science of quantum physics, let’s pause for a moment to understand what our reality really is.

What is Reality

6 blind persons who were asked to describe an elephant gave different answers depending on which part of the elephant they could feel with their hands.

What you observed as reality similarly depends on what you can experience with your limited senses.

For example, it’s a known scientific fact that our eyes are only able to see a very narrow range of the electromagnetic spectrum called visible light.

Typically, the human eye can detect wavelengths from 380 to 700 nanometers. Do you know what percentage of the electromagnetic spectrum that represents?

The wavelengths of electromagnetic waves span gamma rays with wavelengths of 1 pM (picometer, 1×10−12 m, or one trillionth (1/1000000000000) of a meter, to ELF (Extremely Low Frequency) waves with wavelengths of 100 million meters. (Electromagnetic spectrum — Wikipedia).

To cut to the chase, the answer is practically zero!

There are energies and frequencies our senses cannot pick up without the aid of modern technology. For example, you need a radio to capture the sound waves in the air. You need a television set to capture the images and sounds for your viewing. You need a Geiger Counter to alert you to the presence of radioactivity.

Coming back to our atoms, we know that atoms are the building blocks of all the matter in our physical universe. By extrapolation, the matter is therefore an infinitesimally small component in relation to the immense space of nothing physical.

Is matter then made of nothingness?

Not according to Einstein’s equation. It’s just that we can’t sense what’s in the quantum field.

What is there in reality?

We know from Einstein’s equation that there is a dual nature in that matter is interchangeable with energy. This phenomenon has been observed at the sub-atomic level by scientists.

The electrons move around in the vast “empty” field in a completely unpredictable manner. They appear at a place in one moment and then disappear in the next, and it’s impossible to predict where and when the electrons will appear. That’s because, as the scientists eventually realized, the electrons exist simultaneously in an infinite number of possibilities or probabilities.

It is only when an observer focuses his or her attention and looks for the electron that the invisible field of energy and information collapses into a particle we know as the electron. That is called collapsing the wave function, which is a quantum event. As soon as the observer looks away and takes his or her mind off the subatomic matter, the electron disappears back into energy.

Mind Over Matter, or Matter Over Mind

Your brain is made up of billions of neurons firing off through the synapses as they are called into play.

Current scientific estimates are that some 95 percent of brain activity is unconscious. These include habits and patterns, automatic body function, creativity, emotions, personality, beliefs and values, cognitive biases, and long-term memory. Moreover, up to 40 percent of behavior is habitual, taking anywhere from 15 to over 250 days to form a new habit.

While our environment can shape our mind, the converse is also true for those who understood the relationship between mind and matter. Mind and matter are therefore connected in the quantum field.

Our mind can affect matter, with ample scientific experiments backing it. One such experiment involved the imprinting of hatching chicks to the first moving object they see.

In that experiment, a robot with an equal probability of turning left or right was first observed in an enclosure with an empty cage next to it. The results of the robot’s movement are traced below:-

In the second half of the experiment, young chicks which have imprinted on the robot were placed in the cage. The robot was then put into the enclosure as before, with the following interesting result:

Somehow, the minds of the young chicks were able to draw their “mother” to them and the robot ended up moving in the half of the room closest to the cage.

If the minds of small young chicks are that powerful, imagine what the magnificently created human brains would be able to do. It’s an accepted scientific fact that humans have the most sophisticated and advanced brains among the known living creatures on earth.

However, the mind is capable of much more than that.

The Science And The Secret Behind Effective Prayers

Quantum Physics suggests that there is a field of endless possibilities that, upon your mind fixing on a possibility, you will collapse this infinite spectrum down to a specific outcome.

We look at a simpler example to understand the concept better. We know from Quantum Physics that scientists as observers observed an electron into form. It follows that just as we as subjective consciousness are able to observe an electron into form, there’s an objective universal consciousness that is constantly observing all of us and our three-dimensional reality into order and form as well.

This objective universal consciousness whom we Christians call God has already shared with us in Genesis 1:27 that:-

So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

God has given us the power to create our reality.

Why are so many of us then locked into miseries that we don’t seem to be able to extricate ourselves from?

The short answer is that our minds have been preprogrammed by years of habitual thinking. For example, as an experienced driver, your driving skills have been programmed into your subconscious mind. You don’t need to think how-to on the engine, adjust the mirrors, drive off from a parking lot, make all the turns and control the speed of the vehicle.

We are unfortunately stressed creatures living in stressful situations in our modern world with our minds hard-wired to deal with stress. For example, if you had a traumatic experience of being played out by someone you loved or a business partner you trusted, that memory is likely to stay with you throughout your life. That trauma has imprinted into your subconscious mind and caused you to be negative as you constantly recall those bad experiences.

According to studies conducted by the National Science Foundation, we have around 12,000–50,000 thoughts daily. Research confirmed that around 80% of our thoughts are negative — Our minds are creating our own misery as what we focused on, we create.

Conversely, if we can change our habitual thoughts from negative to positive, we can create a better reality for ourselves.

There are many ways to do this and different people are attracted to different techniques. For your convenience, the introduction to some of these techniques is provided in the “Additional Resources” at the end of this article.

Coming back to our subject of prayers, we next look at how to unleash the power of prayers.

The Secret of Effective Prayers

According to Psychology Today,

“Prayer, like meditation, influences our state of mind, which, in turn, influences our “state of the body.” It reduces the experience of anxiety, elevates a depressed mood, lowers blood pressure, stabilizes sleep patterns, and impacts autonomic functions like digestion and breathing. Further, in influencing our state of body-mind, prayer and meditation also influence our thinking. This prompts a shift in the habits of the mind, and subsequently, patterns of behavior. These changes, in turn, and over time, induce changes in the brain, further influencing our subjective and objective experience of the world and how we participate in it.”

According to neuroscientist Richard Davidson, it is possible to “sculpt the brain” as one would sculpt muscles. The technical term is “Neuroplasticity” which is the ability of the brain to keep changing over one’s lifetime.

Studies have shown that intense prayer can play a big role in this process and that the ACT of praying has several benefits that have positive effects on both the person who is praying and the recipient of the prayers.

Practitioners of meditation have confirmed with scientific evidence that effective meditation involves the coherence of the heart and mind. In biblical terms, we need to Pray with Faith where our intention is matched by the strength of our emotions.

Prayers will not be effective if what you are praying with your mind does not correspond with what you are actually feeling, eg. when you doubt your prayers will be answered because of your habitual feelings of being a victim of circumstances.

As I study and explore scientific methods and spiritual methods of changing our lives for the better, I cannot help but be amazed at how both science and spirituality are converging on the “secret things” God wants to reveal to us.
