War After War / 20 Ways To Never Get Cancer / Sept. 3 (Tuesday) is the First Day of Fall Semester

The Flowering of Truth
reveals the youth
of our existence.

Like a Child,
piece by piece
we combine bits of experience
into something elusive
and illusionairy.
As if we
define the World
around us.
And,
we do.

We plebeians of procrastination
often defer
from Peaceful pursuit.

               The Flowering of Truth.

In debt
from our desire
for prosperity,
we savoir the substance
of our circumstance,
while our good intentions,
rare for the moment,
perturbate in their orbits
around
the Human Heart.

In Time,
tainted with theatrics
in Love
with our self-esteem,
we live in isolated absence
of forethought.

In these tempest-tossed times,
there is the temptation
to tread lightly
upon the past,
which becomes prologue
and profound.
Our past is filled
with stones
to mark the Graves
of many,
known and unknown.

The Treasure
of our memory
is vast
and beyond Being.

“The past is never dead. It’s not even past.”                 – William Faulkner

The fierce breath
of History
emanates from our ignorance
buried deep within
the Human Heart.

Between the violent breaths,
prospects for Peace
grow into illusion,
and the cycle begats
war after war.

The sounds of silence,
from our precious breathless deceased,
spiral upward
with startling clarity,
in sufferance of
mortal and moral anguish.

And still,
we
do not listen.

The American Battle Monuments Commission maintains 24 permanent American burial grounds on foreign soil.

Let us remember the past,
and Honor those
who gave their precious Lives
for us.
Let us learn from the past,
so that we do not remain,
as George Santayana reminds us,
savages or infants.
Let us learn
and Lovingly create
a Peaceful future,
filled with Forgiveness
and Love for all
who transgressed
against us.
Let us do this
for our precious Children.

“Those who do not remember their past
are condemned
to repeat their mistakes.
Those who do not read History
are doomed to repeat it.
Those who fail to learn
from the mistakes of their predecessors
are destined to repeat them.
Those who do not know History’s mistakes
are doomed to repeat them.”
George Santayana

My Dear Friends,
let us empower those
who can help
move our precious Lives
forward forever.
Let us help those
who can resurrect
the Future.

To do so,
let us help
ourselves.
Let us empower
we.

Let there be Peace on Earth
and let it begin with me.
Let there be Peace on Earth,
the Peace that was meant to be.

With God as our Father
brothers all are we.
Let me walk with my brother
in perfect harmony.
Let Peace begin with me,
let this be the moment now.
.
With every step I take
let this be my solemn vow,
to take each moment,
and live each moment
in Peace Eternally.
.
Let there be Peace on Earth
and let it begin with
me.

Jill Jackson-Miller and Sy Miller

Pierced by arrows
of discontent,
we cannot even now
define
our Blessings,
so abundantly bestowed.

His Will is made abundantly clear.

To know
the Will of God
reveals the destiny
of Mankind.
And His Will
is made
abundantly clear
in His Word.

You
may not Believe
in God.
But,
He Believes
in YOU.

You Faith
is
your Love of
God.
And Love is,
at the end of Life,
truly ALL
that remains,
and all that
ever was.

Goodnight.

                 All that ever was.

20 Ways To Never Get Cancer

Little habits that can save your life.

First, the good news: You probably won’t get cancer.

That is, if you have a healthy lifestyle. “As many as 70% of known causes of cancers are avoidable and related to lifestyle,” says Thomas A. Sellers, PhD, associate director for cancer prevention and control at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. Diet, exercise, and avoidance of tobacco products are, of course, your first line of defense, but recent research has uncovered many small, surprising ways you can weave even more disease prevention into your everyday life.

Try these novel strategies and your risk of cancer could dwindle even more.

1. Filter your tap water
You’ll reduce your exposure to known or suspected carcinogens and hormone-disrupting chemicals. A report from the President’s Cancer Panel on how to reduce exposure to carcinogens suggests that home-filtered tap water is a safer bet than bottled water, whose quality often is not higher – and in some cases is worse – than that of municipal sources, according to a study by the Environmental Working Group. (Consumer Reports’ top picks for faucet-mounted filters: Culligan, Pur Vertical, and the Brita OPFF-100.) Store water in stainless steel or glass to avoid chemical contaminants such as BPA that can leach from plastic bottles.

2. Stop topping your tank
So say the EPA and the President’s Cancer Panel: Pumping one last squirt of gas into your car after the nozzle clicks off can spill fuel and foil the pump’s vapor recovery system, designed to keep toxic chemicals such as cancer-causing benzene out of the air, where they can come in contact with your skin or get into your lungs.

3. Marinate meat first
Processed, charred, and well-done meats can contain cancer-causing heterocyclic amines, which form when meat is seared at high temperatures, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, which get into food when it’s charcoal broiled. “The recommendation to cut down on grilled meat has really solid scientific evidence behind it,” says Cheryl Lyn Walker, PhD, a professor of carcinogenesis at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. If you do grill, add rosemary and thyme to your favorite marinade and soak meat for at least an hour before cooking. The antioxidant-rich spices can cut HCAs by as much as 87%, according to research at Kansas State University.

4. Caffeinate every day
Java lovers who drank 5 or more cups of caffeinated coffee a day had a 40% decreased risk of brain cancer, compared with people who drank the least, in a 2010 British study. A 5-cup-a-day coffee habit reduces risks of oral and throat cancer almost as much. Researchers credit the caffeine: Decaf had no comparable effect. But coffee was a more potent protector against these cancers than tea, which the British researchers said also offered protection against brain cancer.

5. Water down your risk
Drinking plenty of water and other liquids may reduce the risk of bladder cancer by diluting the concentration of cancer-causing agents in urine and helping to flush them through the bladder faster. Drink at least 8 cups of liquid a day, suggests the American Cancer Society.

6. Load up on green greens
Next time you’re choosing salad fixings, reach for the darkest varieties. The chlorophyll that gives them their color is loaded with magnesium, which some large studies have found lowers the risk of colon cancer in women. “Magnesium affects signaling in cells, and without the right amount, cells may do things like divide and replicate when they shouldn’t,” says Walker. Just 1/2 cup of cooked spinach provides 75 mg of magnesium, 20% of the daily value.

7. Snack on Brazil nuts
They’re a stellar source of selenium, an antioxidant that lowers the risk of bladder cancer in women, according to research from Dartmouth Medical School. Other studies have found that people with high blood levels of selenium have lower rates of dying of lung cancer and colorectal cancer. Researchers think selenium not only protects cells from free radical damage but also may enhance immune function and suppress formation of blood vessels that nourish tumors.

8. Burn off your risk
Moderate exercise such as brisk walking 2 hours a week cuts risk of breast cancer 18%. Regular workouts may lower your risks by helping you burn fat, which otherwise produces its own estrogen, a known contributor to breast cancer. (Try these 14 Walking Workouts That Blast Fat.)

9. Skip the dry cleaner
A solvent known as perc (short for perchloroethylene) that’s used in traditional dry cleaning may cause liver and kidney cancers and leukemia, according to an EPA finding backed in early 2010 by the National Academies of Science. The main dangers are to workers who handle chemicals or treated clothes using older machines, although experts have not concluded that consumers are also at increased cancer risk. Less toxic alternatives: Hand-wash clothes with mild soap and air-dry them, spot cleaning if necessary with white vinegar.

10. Ask about breast density
Women whose mammograms have revealed breast density readings of 75% or more have a breast cancer risk 4 to 5 times higher than that of women with low density scores, according to recent research. One theory is that denser breasts result from higher levels of estrogen – making exercise particularly important (see #8). “Shrinking your body fat also changes growth factors, signaling proteins such as adipokines and hormones like insulin in ways that tend to turn off cancer-promoting processes in cells,” Walker says.

11. Head off cell phone risks
Use your cell phone only for short calls or texts, or use a hands-free device that keeps the phone – and the radio frequency energy it emits—away from your head. The point is more to preempt any risk than to protect against a proven danger: Evidence that cell phones increase brain cancer risk is “neither consistent nor conclusive,” says the President’s Cancer Panel report. But a number of review studies suggest there’s a link.

12. Block cancer with color
Choosing your outdoor outfit wisely may help protect against skin cancer, say Spanish scientists. In their research, blue and red fabrics offered significantly better protection against the sun’s UV rays than white and yellow ones did. Don’t forget to put on a hat: Though melanoma can appear anywhere on the body, it’s more common in areas the sun hits, and researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill have found that people with melanomas on the scalp or neck die at almost twice the rate of people with the cancer on other areas of the body.

13. Pick a doc with a past
Experience – lots of it – is critical when it comes to accurately reading mammograms. A study from the University of California, San Francisco, found that doctors with at least 25 years’ experience were more accurate at interpreting images and less likely to give false positives. Ask about your radiologist’s track record. If she is freshly minted or doesn’t check a high volume of mammograms, get a second read from someone with more mileage.

14. Eat clean foods
The President’s Cancer Panel recommends buying meat free of antibiotics and added hormones, which are suspected of causing endocrine problems, including cancer. The report also advises that you purchase produce grown without pesticides and wash conventionally grown food thoroughly to remove residues. (The foods with the most pesticides: celery, peaches, strawberries, apples, and blueberries. See the full list of dirtiest fruits and vegetables here.) “At least 40 known carcinogens are found in pesticides and we should absolutely try to reduce exposure,” Sellers says.

15. Do a folic acid check
The B vitamin, essential for women who may become or are pregnant to prevent birth defects, is a double-edged sword when it comes to cancer risk. Consuming too much of the synthetic form (not folate, found in leafy green veggies, orange juice, and other foods) has been linked to increased colon cancer risk, as well as higher lung cancer and prostate cancer risks. Rethink your multivitamin, especially if you eat a lot of cereal and fortified foods. A CDC study discovered that half of supplement users who took supplements with more than 400 mcg of folic acid exceeded 1,000 mcg per day of folic acid. Most supplements pack 400 mcg. Individual supplements (of vitamin D and calcium, for instance) may be a smarter choice for most women who aren’t thinking of having kids.

16. Up your calcium intake
Milk’s main claim to fame may also help protect you from colon cancer. Those who took calcium faithfully for 4 years had a 36% reduction in the development of new precancerous colon polyps 5 years after the study had ended, revealed Dartmouth Medical School researchers. (They tracked 822 people who took either 1,200 mg of calcium every day or a placebo.) Though the study was not on milk itself, you can get the same amount of calcium in three 8-ounce glasses of fat-free milk, along with an 8-ounce serving of yogurt or a 2- to 3-ounce serving of low-fat cheese daily.

17. Commit to whole grains
You know whole wheat is better for you than white bread. Here’s more proof why you should switch once and for all: If you eat a lot of things with a high glycemic load—a measurement of how quickly food raises your blood sugar—you may run a higher risk of colorectal cancer than women who eat low-glycemic-load foods, found a Harvard Medical School study involving 38,000 women. The problem eats are mostly white: white bread, pasta, potatoes, and sugary pastries. The low-glycemic-load stuff comes with fiber.

18. Pay attention to pain
If you’re experiencing a bloated belly, pelvic pain, and an urgent need to urinate, see your doctor. These symptoms may signal ovarian cancer, particularly if they’re severe and frequent. Women and physicians often ignore these symptoms, and that’s the very reason that this disease can be deadly. When caught early, before cancer has spread outside the ovary, the relative 5-year survival rate for ovarian cancer is a jaw-dropping 90 to 95%.

19. Avoid unnecessary scans
CT scans are a great diagnostic tool, but they deliver much more radiation than x-rays and may be overused, says Barton Kamen, MD, PhD, chief medical officer for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In fact, researchers suggest that one-third of CT scans could be unnecessary. High doses of radiation can trigger leukemia, so make sure scans are not repeated if you see multiple doctors, and ask if another test, such as an ultrasound or MRI, could substitute.

20. Drop 10 pounds
Being overweight or obese accounts for 20% of all cancer deaths among women and 14% among men, notes the American Cancer Society. (You’re overweight if your body mass index is between 25 and 29.9; you’re obese if it’s 30 or more.) Plus, losing excess pounds reduces the body’s production of female hormones, which may protect against breast cancer, endometrial cancer, and ovarian cancer. Even if you’re not technically overweight, gaining just 10 pounds after the age of 30 increases your risk of developing breast, pancreatic, and cervical, among other cancers.

We Flow From The Shadow / Foods You Should Just Never Eat / Friday: Playful Corp. in McKinney

Moments have wings
and
one by one
they all fly
away.

As we journey
on,
we search for a place
in Love’s fragile Heart,
where we
belong.
But the ebb and flow
of emotions deep and wide,
like the Ocean’s
tide,
caress
every line of every shore
we come to Love
and adore.

Love is meant
to be.
Just as eyes
were meant
to see.
Just as
a pure river of water
flows
through you and me,
a Pure River
of Love
flows from God
to every one on
Earth,
to each of us,
to the individual,
and the collective
we.
.
In the time
we have so little of,
we cannot describe
the Light of the Sun
that opens up
our Eyes,
or the Light of Love
that opens
the Human Heart.

Can we see
Love?
Can we see
Hope?
No.
Our brick walls
are made of flesh.
Nothing we have
is real
without the Heart
giving cause
to the mind.

From the chaos
of Life and living
we are coming
into view.
We may
put to rest
the body,
but we can
never
bury the Heart
and all the Blessed Love
it brought into
Being.

Tomorrow
is made with the Light
that heals the Heart
with Love.

We cannot describe the Light.

Only Love,
for ourselves and
for others,
helps us understand
who we are
and why
we come into
the Blessed Light of
Life.

We flow
from the shadow
of now,
into a form
of what will
be.

Everything in
Nature,
everything in you
and me,
can be translated
and transcended.
The walls
that house
Dreams
are what they
contain.

The moment
left to itself,
will begat nothing
but this
moment.
It does not
lead to the next,
but to what is
left
of this moment.

The caterpillar does not become a butterfly by telling everybody it has wings. It buries itself in darkness and grows wings.

Unless,
the Love of God
enter
into your Being,
you will never
say,
“I am
no longer
who I am.”

Goodnight.

feeling their Love,

Life’s most challenging moments.”
Rhonda Byrne

A few months back, a website called Trueactivist.com (a sort of news aggregator with an activist flavor) published a list of nine foods you should never eat again if you care at all about your long-term health. Each of the nine foods mentioned ranged from the somewhat surprising to the “I stopped eating that crap years ago” category. Here is what was on that list:

White Bread, Refined Flours
Conventional Frozen Meals
White Rice
Microwaveable Popcorn
Cured Meat Products with Nitrates
Most Conventional Protein Bars
Margarine
Soy Milk and Soy-Based Meat Substitutes
Diet Anything

Each of these listed above were accompanied by a paragraph explaining how toxic they are, or how nutritionally vacant they may be. But this got me thinking…only nine foods? Off the top of my head I could think of at least ten more, including Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino. But beyond such specifics, I wanted to add an additional eleven to make an even-numbered list of 20 forbidden foods. These were all selected on account that they are bad for your health and offer little in return. I skipped over items that were just poorly managed, unsustainable, or just plain bad for the environment (that could easily be another list of fifty or more). So here goes:

Conventionally Grown Berries (due to the abundance of pesticides used)
Deep Fried Foods (due to the fact that they are loaded with saturated fat)
Conventional Fruit-Flavored Yogurt (loaded with more sugar than many sodas)
Pop Tarts (loaded with fat and sugar)
Vitamin Water (also loaded with tons of sugar)
Mayonnaise (just too much fat)
Store-Bought Muffins (loaded with fat and sugar)
White Pasta (lacking any real nutrition)
Canned Tomatoes or Tomato Sauce (the acid of the tomatoes leaches BPA from the can)
Artificial Sweeteners (They can increase your appetite and create severely adverse health effects)
Conventionally Produced Meat (too many reasons to list)

And there is a lot more where that came from. What else can or would you add to this list? Is there anything you think has been unfairly demonized?

The Creator of ALL Life / Supplements, Herbs, Vitamins, Plant Extracts with Anti Cancer activity / Friday: Fort Worth Stock Show

         Beyond presence of mind.

The Creator of ALL Life
has placed within each person,
deep within
you,

far beyond your presence of mind
in a place you do not know,
but feel,
a Spiritual Fire.

Spiritual Fire
is something available

to each of us
to cleanse and purify

our emotions, mental state, and even
our physical Being.

Yes,
Spiritual Fire is the deeper mind within.

It purifies you and Blesses you
and is guiding you.

My Dear Friends,
we are living

at the tempestuous and convulsive
surface

of the mind.

And yes,
we also live
on the surface of this Earth,

with all of its misfortunes,
agitations and tragedies.

                  On the surface.

We are driven
by the forward motion of Life,
the need to possess the future.

Indeed.
Life must go on.
.
 And as God’s Creation
living on this Earth
our search for meaning
comes from something dwelling
deeper inside of us.
It is vibrantly alive within you,
but very, very deep
within.

“Knowing can evolve
the deeper you look within.”
– Amanda Grande

If this Meaning,
this fundamental and vital Knowledge
of the meaning of Life
can be discovered and accepted and experienced,
we will be able
to establish a whole new
reason
for Living in this World.

But,
without knowing
the reason for existence,

our mind will create its own reality.
And just look
at the condition of this World,
when we are left
to our own
devices.
Our minds inceptions
manufacture deceptions.
.
But with God as our Guide,
we can say a defiant ‘NO’
to Worldly temptations,
no matter what they
entice us with.
We can
say YES to God,
no matter what the cost.

The effects
of striving to get what we want,
to protect what we have
and our perceived privileges in Life,
or to take them away from others,
have immersed us
in a raging river of wrongs
creating immense suffering
for those involved,
and
for the entire
World.”

Our furious Love
for all things material,
for so very many,

has laid waste
to all we are,
and all
we can ever be.

Traditions of Wisdom,
ancient and inscribed
in the Blessings
of the Gospels
can help us make
more enlightened decisions
as we navigate our way
through this age
of uncertainty.

Such Wisdom
leads to a bountifully Blessed Life
for those who meditate on it
and observe its
Loving commands.

Breathing the Breath
God bequeathed
to us,
is God
alive in
me.

The unseen,
seen,
our Beauty beheld,
but not with eyes
I am told,

our Divinity confirmed,
our longing Heart
no longer concealed,
will find our meaning
revealed.

Lift your precious
Heart
to the Heavens Above
by
falling on your knees
in Prayer.
Let Grace
like a River
wash over you
and set you
free.

  Lift your precious Heart.

You
are not
who you think
you are.
God’s Love
delivered
a Child in need,
in need
of Love.

Ancient of days,
countless in ways,
have we been
told,
everything
the Heart touches,
is transformed
into Love.

“For it is Love alone
for which the World is seeking;
and it is Love alone
which can repay.”
Victor Herbert

And,
in the Shadow

of God’s Love,
we become
what we always
were:
child-like
and filled with
wonder.

Nature
knows Religion.

The Gospel of the land
is not ruled by long division,
as the sky breaks at Dawn
to shed God’s Light upon
the Beautiful signs,
left just for me,
guiding me to Love,
in its own
way.

“And you,
be ye fruitful,
and multiply;

bring forth abundantly in the Earth,
and multiply therein.
Genesis 9:7

The road ahead
seems long,
along the way,

as old men pretend
and Children
comprehend.

Life
is the song
only YOU
can sing.

Goodnight.

Cancer supplements, herbs, vitamins,  plant extracts
with potential anti cancer activity:

There are countless herbs that have been found to have anti-tumor activity in laboratory studies. Whether these herbs and dietary supplement have a role to play in cancer treatment or prevention in humans is not clear at this time. Even if they do, the appropriate dosage and best way to use them is not well known.

However, if your doctor approves, you could try some of these herbal and nutritional supplements.

There are numerous reports of cancer preventive activity of dietary botanicals, including cruciferous vegetables such as cabbage and broccoli, allium vegetables such as garlic and onion, green tea, citrus fruits, soybeans, berries, and ginger, as well as medicinal plants. Several compounds, such as genistein (from soybeans), lycopene (from tomatoes), brassinin (from cruciferous vegetables), sulforaphane (from asparagus), indole-3-carbinol (from broccoli), and resveratrol (from grapes) are being tested.

Berries and berry extracts such as acai, black or red raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, noni, and wolfberry have numerous anticancer compounds. Be sure they are ORGANIC to avoid the pesticides.

Broccoli vegetable and broccoli sprout extract are excellent options.

Curcumin may help fight breast, colon, and prostate cancer. Researchers have found in the lab that curcumin can enhance the cancer-fighting power of treatment with TRAIL, a naturally occurring molecule that helps kill cancer cells. TRAIL stands for tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand. In an experiment with human prostate cancer cells in a laboratory dish, the combination treatment killed off two to three times more cells than either treatment alone. Curcumin exerts multiple different suppressive effects on human breast carcinoma cells in vitro.

Carotenoids show a prominent role in decreasing the incidence of various cancers.

Vitamin D has an important role to play in prevention. Cancer rates are different at different latitudes of the globe. Rates of breast, colon and ovarian cancer are lower in sunnier regions of the world than in Northern climates where cold winters limit people’s sun exposure. Sunlight triggers the synthesis of vitamin D in the skin, and people who get little sun exposure tend to have lower stores of the vitamin. More than three-fourths of people with a variety of cancers have low levels of vitamin D, and the lowest levels are associated with more advanced cancers

Green Tea has polyphenolic compounds such as EGCG that are protective against various forms of cancer.

Graviola fruit, also known as soursop, grows in the Amazon jungle and some of the Caribbean islands. See graviola cancer latest research, a web site that is updated regularly.

AHCC – Active Hexose-correlated Compound – is a mushroom extract that has been tested as an immune enhancing, liver protective and anti-cancer agent.

Ashwagandha has many compounds that have been found to have activity against lung, colon, breast, and central nervous system tumors.

Calcium D Glucarate is a natural supplement.

Cat’s Claw extracts exert a direct anti-proliferative activity on MCF7 breast cancer cell lines. Cats-Claw supplements can improve quality of life in those with advanced tumors.

DIM-Diindolylmethane supplement is another good option. See current research on this supplement at diindolemethane dim web site with the latest studies.

Indole 3 Carbinol is available as a supplement. See Indole3Carbinol I3C  for more information.

Mangosteen has powerful xanthones. As of 2011, I am not aware of human studies with mangosteen in the prevention or treatment of cancer.

Milk thistle contains silymarin and other flavonoids that have been found to have anti-tumor action in bladder and prostate cancer cells.

Noni fruit juice contains a polysaccharide-rich substance called Noni-ppt with anti-tumor activity.

Reishi mushroom water soluble extracts inhibit colon tumors in mice. Reishi may be helpful in advanced-stage cancers and has shown activity against prostate cancer cells.

Agaricus mushroom has been studied as a mushroom extract cancer treatment.

Resveratrol shows promise in neuroblastoma and breast cancer.
Integr Cancer Therapy. Efficacy of Antioxidants as a Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) in Combination With the Chemotherapeutic Agent Doxorubicin. Resveratrol and curcumin have the potential to be clinically applied to prevent cardiac toxicity and hand-foot syndrome and enhance the anticancer efficiency of Doxorubicin.

Maitake mushroom is often used in Japan

Calcium mineral has been associated with a lower risk of colon cancer, so has vitamin D.

IP-6, Inositol hexaphosphate, is a naturally polyphosphorylated carbohydrate found in beans, brown rice, corn, sesame seeds, wheat bran, and other high fiber foods. IP-6 has been reported to have in vivo and in vitro anticancer activity against numerous tumors, such as colon, prostate, breast, liver, chronic myeloid leukemia, and rhabdomyosarcomas. Significant human trials are lacking and hence we do not currently know whether taking IP-6 supplements is helpful in cancer prevention or therapy.

Melatonin, a pineal hormone, is a potent antioxidant and has been shown to inhibit estrogen-responsive human breast cancer cells and augment the effectiveness of tamoxifen.

Supplements that may be helpful for those on chemotherapy:
Carnitine improves fatigue in those who are undergoing chemotherapy.
Glutamine supplementation can lessen loss of protein in the muscle and protect immune and gut-barrier function during radio-chemotherapy in patients with advanced cancer. Glutamine supplement may also be helpful for mucositis induced by cancer treatment.
SAM-e may have a protective effect in cancer chemotherapy-induced liver toxicity, do not use more than 100 mg a day.

CoQ10
Improved survival in patients with end-stage cancer treated with coenzyme Q10 and other antioxidants: a pilot study.J Int Med Res.
This pilot study evaluated the survival of patients with end-stage cancer who received supplements of coenzyme Q10 and a mixture of other antioxidants (e.g. vitamin C, selenium, folic acid and beta-carotene). During a period of 9 years, 41 patients who had end-stage cancer were included. Primary cancers were located in the breast, brain, lungs, kidneys, pancreas, esophagus, stomach, colon, prostate, ovaries and skin. The median actual survival was 40% longer than the median predicted survival.

Additional Herbs and compounds:

Celery seed extract
D Glucarate supplement
Indole-3-carbinol supplement
Mistletoe herb
Morinda citrifolia extract
Sulforaphane, found in broccoli and Brussels sprouts, slows the growth of human breast cancer cells in the lab. It disrupts the action of protein ‘microtubules’ within the cells, which are vital for the success of cell division. It also has effects on detoxification enzymes that can defend against cancer-promoting substances.

Many Hearts are Homeless / Radiation Exposure of Smart Meters / Friday: At School

So many Hearts
are homeless,
lost
on a long highway
to anywhere
but Home.

Where
do we go
from here?
Perhaps,
in a direction
unknown.

We are
far more simplistic
and Beautiful,
than illusioned in this
material World.

              To anywhere but Home.

We are
Heart and Soul,
the Dream
of our Maker,
the Deep Love God Created,
the very Breath
of His Life.

So where,
My Dear Friends,
do we go?
.
Inward.
In the direction
we are
not aware of.

The longest Journey
we can make,
from the Head
to the Heart,
can be made
in one moment
of Time –
in this Life,
in this Time.

                     In one moment.

The war
for sanity
and our search
for the Sacred,
is not on
a battlefield.
Long before
we realize we are
at war,
we wander through
many minefields
of the mind.

As a very young person,
I often wondered:
How do we learn to live
in this reality?
And what is it?
What is
truly real?

The illusions of
Life
create so very many
truly devastating
and depressing
expectations, horizons, and prejudices
leading to self-destruction,
and wars.

Yes,
I searched
my mind
for so many years.
Until,
one day,
I discovered I was looking
in all the wrong places.

Looking in all the wrong places.

What I needed,
and found after fervent Prayer,
was to look beyond
what we can see,
to a far deeper
reality.

As I looked up one day,
to see the precious flying Creations
in God’s stunningly Beautiful Sky,
I stopped thinking
and I began to feel,
to feel very deeply,
with all my Heart,
in the reality that
God Loves us.

How
could it be
anything
other.
God is Love.
And WE
are His Children.

My Precious Mother Marie.

I Prayed for His guidance.
And in one moment,
one Beautiful moment in Time,
I was reminded
of something my precious Mother
told me many years ago:

“You are meant to Live
for much more than yourself.
Pursue God’s purpose for you
and do so
with great passion.”

So I looked beyond
me.

                     Look beyond me.

.
What defines us,
guides us through this
brief, precious Life.

My Dear Parents,
our children cannot define themselves.
They are given the wrong definitions
of self.
They are based upon what we accomplish,
the opinions of others,
the self-defeating lies we tell ourselves,
on appearance or possessions
– which always leave us feeling
we are not good enough,
we do not have enough,
we are not
enough.

I beg of you
to tell them the
Truth.

There is no Higher
Truth,
no Greater
Reality
if they embrace their true identity
as God’s Beloved Child.

Our value is intrinsic
and secured by God.
It is NOT dependent on our abilities
or whether or not other people accept you.
Hey,
if they don’t accept you,
count your Blessings.
You are unique!

God knows you.
He accepts you.
He LOVES you.

   Our children cannot define themselves.

Immerse yourself in God’s Word.
Place His Scripture
deep into your Soul.

This REALITY,
what is truly real,
will transform you.

Make decisions,
for yourself
and especially for your Children,
based upon Biblical Teachings
for guidance.

Learn from our history.

And the History
of Mankind,
OUR kind,
is not pretty.

There is no Higher Truth, no Greater Reality.

I pray tonight for everyone.
May your Dreams become reality,
and may your precious Lives be filled
with Love for one another,
and the Love
of God.

Goodnight.

            Immerse yourself in God’s Word.

“Be Thou my Vision,
O Lord of my Heart
Naught be all else to me,
save that Thou art Thou my best Thought,
by day or by night Waking or sleeping,
Thy presence my light
Be Thou my Wisdom,
and Thou my true Word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me,
Lord Thou my great Father,
I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling,
and I with Thee one
Riches I heed not,
nor man’s empty praise
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always
Thou and Thou only,
first in my heart High King of Heaven,
my Treasure Thou art
High King of Heaven,
my victory won
May I reach Heaven’s joys,
O bright Heav’n’s Sun
Heart of my own Heart,
whate’er befall Still be my Vision,
O Ruler of all.”

Radiation Exposure of Smart Meters
by Daniel Hirsch

Daniel Hirsch:
Radiation Exposure of Smart Meters Report is Inaccurate

By Mary on January 31, 2011 in General Info, Health, Health, Misinformation, Position Statements, Resources, Smart Meter News

Daniel Hirsch, lecturer and expert in nuclear policy and radiation at UCSC, criticized the California Council on Science and Technology’s (CCST) “Health Impacts of Radio Frequency from Smart Meters” report. CCST is a partner with the US Department of Energy, funder and promoter of smart meters.

Here he is on video in an impromptu interview after a lecture he gave at Stevenson College, UCSC about the crisis in Fukushima.  He was asked about smart meter radiation and the ‘independent’ CCST report on the health effects of smart meters:

The draft report by the California Council on Science and Technology (CCST) does not appear to answer the questions asked of it by the requesting elected officials. Furthermore, rather than being an independent, science-based study, the CCST largely cuts and pastes
estimates from a brochure by the Electric Power Research Institute, an industry group, issued some weeks earlier.

The EPRI estimates appear incorrect in a number of regards. When two of the most central errors are corrected – the failure to take into account duty cycles of cell phones and microwave ovens and the failure to utilize the same units (they should compare everything in terms of average whole body exposure) the cumulative whole body exposure from a Smart Meter at 3 feet appears to be approximately two orders of magnitude higher than that of a cell phone, rather than two orders of magnitude lower.

Comparison of Radio-Frequency Levels to the Whole Body from Various Sources in μW/cm2 over time [corrected for assumed duty cycle and whole body exposure extrapolated from assumed cell phone dose at ear].

At window

Look out the window of this brief view of Life.

God gives us truly beautiful gifts.

This we know
With eyes to see,
And ears to hear,
And the mirror of our mind
To remember.

rendezvous_by_struller

Truly beautiful gifts

But it is the Heart
That can plainly tell
You are one
Of those gifts.

Our Hearts daily sing,
At times,
As quietly
As the dark is
Night.

But we little know,
Deep inside,
Just how rare and beautiful it is
For a person, of any age,
To acknowledge
In the time we have on this Earth
The dynamic and wonderful deeds
We do for others.

boy with birds

Gaze into the Infinite and beautiful sky.

melitaea_phoebe_by_struller

How rare and beautiful.

We never seem to do justice
To ourselves in recognizing
The thoughts and efforts
We have contributed to
Countless friends and family,
And those we have
Not met.

Justice
Is a fleeting thing,
And can appear meaningless
In the Grand View of All things.

But the Love of God,
As it flows through you
From our Father
In Heavens Above,
Sees you.
He feels you,
He knows
You,
He is you.

The Love of God flows through you.

The Heart
That beats within His child
Is His.
And throughout your precious Being
His dynamic presence flows
From an Everlasting Grace.

Most go never being known.

Listen
To the song
Of your Heart.
Look out the window
Of this brief view of Life.
Gaze into the Infinite and Beautiful sky.
You will see many memories,
Moments that passed by,
Emotions more real
Than are you.

The Human Spirit
Is able to return
To the Love
From which it came.

TREE in hand

The story of your Life begins and ends with you.

The stories you share
Have a Life of their own.
Moments of great Love,
And greater Sacrifice,
Flow like a Sacred River
To an Infinite Sea
Of what we feebly know,
Of what has been,
Can ever be.

The course we chart in Life carries more than we.

The course we chart in Life
Carries more than we.
It harbors our Dreams,
And Memories,
All the Love we came to be,
The Compassion we felt
For others,
And
So very much more
We shall never truly know,
Never see.

This is Life.

But the story of your Life
Begins and ends
With you.

Every page
Knows your name,
Each chapter begins
Anew.

So very much more we shall never know, never see.

God conveys His Dreams
To protect us,
To heal,
To change us
And save us
From ourselves,
To guide us
In the direction we take.
Should we humble ourselves
In Prayer,
Should we ask,
We shall receive.

One Blessed Night
We will, at last,
At long last,
Listen
To His Heart
As He speaks to ours.

You are a dream.
And when you dream,
A dream within
A dream.

But yourself?

Safflower is in the “battle of the bulge”.
With millions of people praising this so called “miracle pill”
that you take as a supplement to lose weight,
it has been getting a lot of attention
since it was recently featured on The Dr. Oz Show.

Surprisingly,
many people who struggle daily with their weight
have yet to hear about this powerful option.
Those that have heard of Safflower are confused
about what it is, how to use it,
and how to avoid falling for ineffective formulas.

lycaena_dispar_by_mantide

Great Courage and Dignity reside within your Faith.

According to Dr. Oz,
Safflower works in more than one way.
The first way is that it goes in and causes the body
to burn fat from within “like a furnace,”
literally melting the fat away.

orthetrum__cancellatum_by_mantide

We are Beloved Beyond Belief.

The second feature, and the most important one,
is that after Safflower has burnt the fat,
you’re left with the sleek, lean muscle
that was buried underneath.

The third feature
is its ability to strengthen
not only the muscles,
but the bones as well.

Without Faith, what have you but yourself?

Safflower contains no stimulants.
Safflower contains 10% Pure Safflower,
the active ingredient in CLA Safflower Oil.
Safflower has been found to burn belly fat
from within your body, boosting weight loss
by more than 33%.
Studies have shown that daily
Safflower intake can increase lean muscle
and bone density.

Diana enjoyed the games at Main Event.

Diana enjoyed the many games at Main Event.

Ordinary happiness is a feeling that has an object
– for example, a happy event, winning a prize,
or wearing pretty new shoes.
But, If the issue of your happiness ceases to be an issue,
You may find it.

The problem with ordinary happiness is that it never lasts.
A happy event is soon followed by a sad one.
Most of us go through life looking for things to “make us happy.”
But this “fix” is never permanent,
so we keep looking.

We think of happiness
as something that floats
in and out of our lives.

The Rev. Dr. Nobuo Haneda,
a Jodo Shinshu priest and teacher,
said that “If you can forget your individual happiness,
that’s happiness defined.
If the issue of your happiness ceases to be an issue,
that’s the happiness”.

One word for “happiness”
from the early Pali texts is piti,
which is a deep tranquility.

Perhaps,
We have assumed it was
something else.

Ian enjoyed bowling.

We enjoyed bowling.

And now, for my students in Philosophy, I share a bit of knee-deep philosophical reflection from
Franklin F. Wolff, an American mystic, poet, philosopher, and mathematician, who combined an extraordinary intellect with profound mystical insight and a mathematically induced predilection toward meticulous analysis. Wolff devoted himself to the goal of transcending the normal limits of human consciousness. (So here I sit in front of a variety of references, including a wictionary, pictionary, yes, let’s make it a game, dictionary and what in the world is that-icktionary. You may need help too.)

Please do not return to class and tell me you thought so deeply about this and now your head hurts, again. My job is get you to use your head for something other than testing new shampoos. Remember, according to sub atomic particle physics, if you stop thinking, you, along with the rest of the Universe, may consequentially not exist. Einstein wondered if the moon would really disappear if everyone stopped looking at it – seriously!  See you on the flip side of reflection.

If you survive reading this, I will award you an Honorary Nth Degree, a mathematically specious solecism, to convey the message that your thought processes have been raised to an absurdly high level (or possible that you are confused too!). Enjoy . . . .

The Philosophy of Franklin Merrell-Wolff
by Thomas J. McFarlane
read more here

Wolff graduated from Stanford University in 1911 with a major in mathematics and minors in philosophy and psychology. He then went on to Harvard graduate school to study philosophy, where he was particularly influenced by the study of Kant’s Critique of Pure Reason. As a result of his philosophical studies, Wolff became convinced of the probable existence of a transcendent mode of consciousness that could not be comprehended within the limits of our ordinary forms of knowledge. Prior to completing his degree at Harvard, he returned to Stanford to teach mathematics. read more here

OK. Sit down and get really comfortable. If you fall asleep, it’s alright. I did. Now I shall attempt to help you navigate through the verbage (verbiage is, perhaps, more technically correct, but that’s verbage too). The overabundance or superfluity of words may heighten your anxiety, but keep focused. Pretend you are on safari and the machete of your mind is clearing a path. Set your alarm clock and wake up from time to time, and continue this voyage into the unbelievable and unknown. Clutch the arms of your chair, breathe deeply and hang on!

The Double Slit Experiment is an experiment in Quantum Physics in which the effects were shown by Thomas Young way back in 1803, but since has been proven even more strange by many others. It’s power truly reveals a mind-altering view of the world and how we affect it. read more

The Double Slit Experiment shows us that
we create reality
just by observing it.

Subatomic material will take every possible path at the same time as a wave when not observed. When observed, the particle collapses down to one point as a particle. What can this mean about us? Do we all have powers that we are not aware of? What it does seem to prove is that we create reality by observing it.

With that depth of understanding, Franklin Merrell-Wolff postulates the following: (Here is where you take a really deep breath.)

“Reality is inversely proportional to appearance”. In other words, the degree of the true substance or reality is the inverse or opposite of the degree of ponderability.

Lazer Tag was everyone's favorite.

Lazer Tag was everyone’s favorite.

Thus, concrete objects of experience, which have a high degree of ponderability, are the least substantial. Subtle or abstract objects of experience, on the other hand, which are less ponderable, partake of a higher degree of substantiality and reality.

The effect of this insight upon Wolff was an acceptance of substantial reality, where the senses reported emptiness, and a greater capacity to realize unreality in the material given through the senses. (Hang in there. It gets deeper.)

Thus, Liberation does not necessarily involve any new object of experience or change in the content of consciousness. To seek such a new object or experience, therefore, is a mistake. Genuine Realization, therefore, is a recognition of Nothing – but a Nothing that is absolutely Substantial and identical with the SELF. (You may need a nap about now.)

It is a nondual knowledge of identity that transcends space and time.

(Here is where you may decide to be happy and major in History. Then you can have faith that the past really happened and was not an illusion. You are going to need comforting thoughts.)

Some of the effects Wolff experienced were:
(1) A shift in the base of reference in consciousness, transplanting the roots of identity from the relative to the transcendent,
(2) a transformation of the meaning of self – to a space-like identity with the entire field of consciousness and all its contents,
(3) a sense of penetrating knowledge into the depths of reality,
(4) a transcendence of space, time, and causality,
(5) complete freedom and liberation from all bondage. Experienced were qualities of joy, felicity, serenity, peace, and benevolence.

Wyatt and Gavin played many games.

Wyatt and Gavin played many games.

(Now, I need to rest.)

Tension consisted in the contrast in valuation between the superlative Joy, Peace, Rest, Freedom and Knowledge of the Transcendent and the emptiness of the relative world.

Three Fundamentals of the Philosophy

of Franklin Merrell-Wolff

1. Consciousness is original, self-existent, and constitutive of all things. All experience and all objects are derivative from Consciousness. Thus Consciousness is constitutive of all things, i.e., all things are, in their ultimate nature, nothing but this Primordial Consciousness itself.

2. The Subject to Consciousness transcends the object of Consciousness. A concrete object in consciousness might be a visual perception of a chair or a sensation of pain in our foot. More subtle objects are appearances in consciousness such as a thought or memory, an intuition about something,

The subjective principle or aspect of consciousness is more fundamental to consciousness than the objective appearances in consciousness. The subjective principle is therefore transcendental, while the objective principle is not.

3. There are three, not two, organs of knowledge: perception, conception, and introception. Wolff’s philosophy is an affirmation of a third way of knowing which Wolff calls “introception”.

Perception includes all sensory knowledge we derive from seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, and tasting.

Lunch

We learned to space out our meals, so to speak.

Conception includes all knowledge we derive from thought, memory, imagination, and the like. If we admit only these two forms of knowledge, then our knowledge of reality is forever limited to our hypothetical, conceptual speculations about what reality might be.

Introception provides immediate, categorical knowledge that transcends the subject-object distinction, i.e., it is not a relational knowledge of something by something else, but a knowledge through identity in which there is only knowledge itself that includes and transcends both knower and known. It affirms that there is also a capacity for transcendental knowledge. (Where is a good Buddhist when you need one?)

(Please do not disturb me, I may be in a trance.)

Put on your thinking caps. Here are Highlights from
The Philosophy of Consciousness Without An Object

by Franklin Merrell-Wolff
  1.  Consciousness-without-an-object is. Before objects were, Consciousness-without-an-object is. Though objects seem to exist, Consciousness-without-an-object is. (I think I need an aspirin.)
  2. When objects vanish, yet remaining through all unaffected, Consciousness-without-an-object is. (Magicians know this.)
  3. Outside of Consciousness-without-an-object nothing is.
  4. Within the bosom of Consciousness-without-an-object lies the power of awareness that projects objects.
  5. When objects are projected, the power of awareness as subject is presupposed, yet Consciousness-without-an-object remains unchanged. (This is why teachers use transparencies.)
  6. When consciousness of objects is born, then, likewise, consciousness of absence of objects arises. (Kind of explains Algebra!)
  7. Consciousness of objects is the Universe.
  8. Consciousness of absence of objects is Nirvana. (This is why I meditate until I fall over.)
  9. Within Consciousness-without-an-object lie both the Universe and Nirvana, yet to Consciousness-without-an-object these two are the same. (I need a Venn or other-worldly diagram here.)
  10. Within Consciousness-without-an-object lies the seed of Time. (This is why you need an object called an alarm clock.)
  11. When awareness cognizes Time then knowledge of Timelessness is born. (Is this when the alarm clock wakes me up?)
  12. To be aware of Time is to be aware of the Universe, and to be aware of the Universe is to be aware of Time. (I guess it pays to know what time it really is.)group
  13. To realize Timelessness is to attain Nirvana. (Now I know why I’m happy when I’m dreaming!)
  14. But for Consciousness-without-an-object there is no difference between Time and Timelessness. (Get to work late, and this may not be exactly true.)
  15. Within Consciousness-without-an-object lies the seed of the world-containing Space.
  16. When awareness cognizes the world-containing Space then knowledge of the Spatial Void is born. (Is this when we dream?)
  17. To be aware of the world-containing Space is to be aware of the Universe of Objects. (This may be why we collect things.)
  18. To realize the Spatial Void is to awaken to Nirvanic Consciousness.
  19. But for Consciousness-without-an-object there is no difference between the world-containing Space and the Spatial Void.
  20. Within Consciousness-without-an-object lies the Seed of Law.       (I thought it was J. P. Court!)
  21. When consciousness of objects is born the Law is invoked as a Force tending ever toward Equilibrium. (I got lost here.)
  22. All objects exist as tensions within Consciousness-without-an-object that tend ever to flow into their own complements or others. (I hope you got that, I didn’t.)
  23. The ultimate effect of the flow of all objects into their complements is mutual cancellation in complete Equilibrium.
  24. Consciousness of the field of tensions is the Universe.
  25. But for Consciousness-without-an-object there is neither tension nor Equilibrium. (Now I need a drink, and I don’t drink!)
  26. The state of tensions is the state of ever-becoming.
  27. Ever-becoming is endless-dying. (He was just dying to say that.)
  28. So the state of consciousness of objects is a state of ever-renewing promises that pass into death at the moment of fulfillment.
  29. Thus when consciousness is attached to objects the agony of birth and death never ceases. (Oh, No! It’s my Mother’s fault!)
  30. In the state of Equilibrium where birth cancels death the deathless Bliss of Nirvana is realized. (Say again!)
  31. But Consciousness-without-an-object is neither agony nor bliss. (I’ll never go shopping again!)
  32. Out of the Great Void, which is Consciousness-without-an-object, the Universe is creatively projected. (Physicist Brian Greene explains how properties at a black hole’s surface – its event horizon – suggest the unsettling theory that our world is a mere representation of another universe, ….. Reality, that is, may be akin to a hologram. This is something with a pretty firm theoretical footing. Fermilab is building a machine that may prove that “reality” is only a holographic projection from the outermost boundary of the Universe. Reality may be a hologram in which all is projected illusion. Fermilab particle astrophysicist Craig Hogan is building the most precise clock of all time to directly measure whether our reality is an illusion.  Read moreThe new physics states that the entire Universe is a giant hologram projected through our brains creating the reality we see. But then what is projecting that hologram. Physicists hope that this surprising finding is a clue to the ultimate theory of reality. Now ask yourself, how does the brain react to virtual reality? Just ask a child, who toys with it everyday. They remove themselves from what we consider to be our real world, and get their minds immersed into another virtual world by playing virtual world video games. But are we, all of us, part of another virtual world? Within a hologram, the whole is within the part. No matter how many times you divide the whole, the part will always contain it’s totality. At a deeper level, reality may be a super-hologram (there is a super massive black hole at the center of each galaxy, including ours) in which the past, present, and future all exist simultaneously. For now, the building blocks of reality are behaving in ways which are inexplicable. This may link up with theories that consciousness brings reality into existence through observation. Please keep in mind that those who go after the pull of the unknown can inevitably risk loosing their grip on reality by discovering that it possibly doesn’t exist in the first place, with reality possibly being an illusion. In which case, your haven’t really lost anything because, there wasn’t anything to lose to begin with.
  33. The Universe as experienced is the created negation that ever resists. (Resists what?)
  34. The creative act is bliss, the resistance, unending pain. (I’ll never say NO again, I promise!)
  35. Endless resistance is the Universe of experience, the agony of crucifixion. (How did religion get into this?)
  36. Ceaseless creativeness is Nirvana, the Bliss beyond human conceiving. (I was always happy with my coloring book.)
  37. But for Consciousness-without-an-object there is neither creativeness nor resistance.Caty
  38. Ever-becoming and ever-ceasing-to-be are endless action. (I think I already got that.)
  39. When ever-becoming cancels the ever-ceasing-to-be then Rest is realized. (Thank God!)
  40. Ceaseless action is the Universe.
  41. Unending Rest is Nirvana. (You got that right,)
  42. But Consciousness-without-an-object is neither Action nor Rest.
  43. When consciousness is attached to objects it is restricted through the forms imposed by the world-containing Space, by Time, and by Law. (Now my head hurts.)
  44. When consciousness is disengaged from objects, Liberation from the forms of the world-containing Space, of Time, and of Law is attained. (I’m going to stop thinking about things!)
  45. Attachment to objects is consciousness bound within the Universe. (Shopping can get you into trouble.)
  46. Liberation from such attachment is the State of unlimited Nirvanic Freedom. (We were told, “less is more”!)
  47. But Consciousness-without-an-object is neither bondage nor freedom.
  48. Consciousness-without-an-object may be symbolized by a SPACE that is unaffected by the presence or absence of objects, for which there is neither Time nor Timelessness, neither a world-containing Space nor a Spatial Void, neither Tension nor Equilibrium, neither Resistance nor Creativeness, neither Agony nor Bliss, neither Action nor Rest, and neither Restriction nor Freedom. (This man took several math courses too many. Did he not meet the deadline for withdrawal?)
  49. As the GREAT SPACE is not to be identified with the Universe, so neither is It to be identified with any Self. (I lost my identity at number 2.)
  50. The GREAT SPACE is not God, but the comprehender of all Gods, as well as of all lesser creatures.Ian
  51. The GREAT SPACE, or Consciousness-without-an-object, is the Sole Reality upon which all objects and all selves depend and derive their existence.
  52. Beside the GREAT SPACE there is none other. (I don’t know about you, but the great space that was my mind is now filled with smoke.)
You may want to read this again.
But I wouldn’t read it a third time.
There are such things as limits.
Too much of this and you will major in Philosophy
and end up driving a cab. And some of the people you give rides to may be a bit unreal. But you will have a deeper depth of understanding and will  empathize with them. You may no longer be capable of deep reflection. But never object to reflect.

Please allow me to share this stunningly beautiful poem with you:

Compassion
by Franklin Merrell-Wolff

O Compassion! More than the other loves of men,
Less than the High Indifference;
Calmly standing by and waiting; years, centuries, millennia;
Taking to Thyself the suffering of all;
Transforming toward Joy;
With Light restraining Darkness; with good, evil;
Refusing release while others are bound;
Melting differences;
Accepting impurity, giving purity;
Bound by no law, yet acquiescing in bondage;
Available for all as the light of the sun,
Yet forced on no man against his will;
Needing nought for Thyself,
Though giving to all in need;
The Base of all hope for this humanity so low;
Pure Radiance Divine.
Sweet art Thou, unutterably sweet;
Melting within me all hardness;
Stirring inclusion of the low as the high;
The evil as the good; the weak as the strong;
The unclean as the pure; the violent as the considerate;
None left out;
Awaking new understanding and patience beyond Time;
Arousing forgetfulness of the petty in the grand sweep of the noble;
Equalizing regard, yet exalting true worth;
Reaching beyond all contradiction.
To Thee I sing, glorious Spirit;
Grandest God mankind can know.

Well, this has been a little deeper than the knee is high. But now you have the mathematicians bent on things. Aren’t you glad you had trouble with Algebra. If you get too deep in some of these subjects, you may find yourself all alone and then have nothing to do but think. Now, get some sleep. And if your head is hurting tomorrow, stop reading philosophy and watching television for awhile. Later, you can view some commercials and not realize that you are still in pain.

From: Christina Reiter, M.S., R.D.
Resident consulting dietitian at the University of Colorado–Boulder Wardenburg Health Center for Nutrition Education and Therapies.

What we eat and how we feel are linked in very complex ways. A healthy approach to eating is centered on savoring flavor, eating to satisfaction and increasing energy, rather than focusing on weight.

Get satisfaction!

Both eating and physical activity are fun, sensory experiences! In both, aim for pleasure — not pain.

Eat like a kid

If adding more fruits and vegetables sounds ominous, look to “finger food” versions that preschool kids love — carrot and celery sticks, cherry tomatoes, broccoli florets, grapes, berries and dried fruits. All are nutritional powerhouses packed with antioxidants.

Think Small

Often the biggest deterrent to improving health is feeling overwhelmed by all the available advice and research. Try to focus first on one small, seemingly inconsequential, unhealthy habit. If you have a can of soda at lunchtime every day, have a glass of water two days a week instead. healthy, positive habit.

It’s easy to build from here by adding more healthy substitutions.

“I’ll walk in the rain by your side,
I’ll cling to the warmth of your tiny hand.

I’ll do anything to help you understand,
and I’ll love you more than anybody can.

And the wind will whisper your name to me,
little birds will sing along in time.

Leaves will bow down when you walk by

Yes, my child. We have had GREAT Presidents and Teddy Bears.

Yes, child.
We have had great Presidents.
Theodore Roosevelt

He was the only man to win the top prize for peace and war – the only president ever to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. And he won the Nobel Peace Prize. At 43 he became the youngest President in the Nation’s history, becoming the 26th President of the United States at the age of 42 – in office from 1901 to 1909.

He jump-started the conservation movement, and was the first voice of reform in American politics. Elected to Phi Beta Kappa due to his outstanding grades, he was appointed Police Commissioner in New York and began to drive out corruption there with his usual fearlessness. President McKinley then appointed him as Secretary of the Navy. Later, he was elected Governor of New York in 1899. He worked very hard to make the Panama Canal a reality and obtained the Pure Food Act in 1906, regulating the food industry. He attacked corruption ruthlessly.

By the way, I found it interesting to discover that Theodore Roosevelt won the Nobel Peace Prize for bringing about a peace conference in September 1905 between warring Russia and Japan. Later, Franklin Roosevelt, his Fifth cousin (same family), would be notable for getting a commitment from the leader of Russia (then the U.S.S.R.) to Enter a war (WWII) against Japan (same countries), after Germany’s impending surrender. Theodore was a Republican, Franklin a Democrat. You cannot make this stuff up. History is always fascinating and, like politics, truly strange territory indeed.

Franklin Roosevelt proved to be another of our great Presidents. You would not believe the problems he had to deal with – a world wide great depression and a world war, and all while having to cope with the deadly disease of Polio. Do you know why he is Honored with his image on the United States coin – the dime? Because of his crusade to defeat polio and the “March of Dimes” campaign to raise funds to fight this horrible disease!

The Teddy Bear, so beloved of children everywhere, was named for Theodore Roosevelt, after he refused to shoot a defenseless small cub black bear on a hunting trip. Yes, the Teddy Bear was invented in honor of President Theodore Roosevelt. He was an outdoors man and a hunter, but also loved animals. In 1902, President Roosevelt legendarily spared this life and prompted a plush toy craze for so-called “teddy bears.”

Teddy BearYes, I am the proud owner of one. It was given to me by my Mother at the tender age of six. No, you may not borrow him. He is in almost as fragile a condition as his owner. And you may not borrow me either. I have napping to do. After all, we are almost the same age. And what he represents possesses far more wisdom than I can imagine having. By the way, his ears are totally worn out from being dragged around on the floor – by his ears. I simply must stop doing that. The students say it is embarrassing behavior (like they never embarrass anyone with their behavior). I blame “Teddy” Roosevelt for all the abuse.

And I blame my “Teddy Bear” for acquiring a major in political science. I must admit that my professors never accepted my eccentric behavior or that of “Teddy”, my bear. I think he also majored in political science. Why not? I told the other students he was a Baylor Bear. You would be shocked at what he got by with, claiming to be the school mascot. And, I believe he learned far more than me. His transcript may appear blank, like his stares. But he charmed all the teachers and students and got by with frequent naps, while I had to take copious notes. Next time around, I am wearing a fur coat and cuddling with everyone. One is never too old to learn!

Why the bears have all the fun?

Why let the bears have all the fun? By the way, convincing the wife to dress like this – was difficult!

President Theodore Roosevelt became the Father of Conservation. As president, he created five national parks – America’s best idea – which doubled the previously existing number and signed the landmark Antiquities Act. What he did was to preserve and protect the environment and wildlife of the United States. He was dedicated to preserving the country’s natural beauty. He created the Grand Canyon Game Preserve by proclamation in 1906 and the Grand Canyon National Monument in 1908.

“There can be no greater issue
than that of conservation in this country.”

– Confession of Faith Speech, August 6, 1912

Yes, my child. We have had truly great Presidents,
and adorable Teddy Bears!
