The Beauty Of God’s Recreation / TWO Cans of Sugary Drinks a Day = heart attack, diabetes and stroke / Trip: Half Price Books and Movie – The Martian

God in His Wisdom Provides.

We struggle
To rebuild ourselves each day,
Some days, minute by minute.
And there are years
Of not knowing,

Of not feeling,
That so very many hearts
Like yours and mine,
Have been broken
By what someone has done,

And can’t undo.

flower

   Hold out your arms.

My Dear Friends,
Never feel that you are
Alone.
Given time,
Everyone suffers.
Look around,
And you will know.
But, we need to know
More
To survive and thrive.
And a good place to start
Is to recognize that

“Your joy
is your sorrow unmasked.
And the selfsame well
from which your laughter rises
was oftentimes filled
with your tears.
And how else can it be?
The deeper that sorrow
carves into your being,

the more joy you can contain.”

To empty the vessel
Of your precious being
Of all the suffering and pain,
To prepare your Life
To begin again,
Forgive
Those who transgress
Against you.

Forgiveness
Furrows deep into
The Landscape of Being,
To bury what needs
Never to be thought of
Again,
Leading to remarkable discover,
That we are standing alone,
No longer holding those who
Who harmed us by the hand.

For we drop the hand
Of the one we hold
In mindful madness,
Til’ its meaning has lost
All pretense of being.

flowers 2

Formed by God into the Flower Of Your Precious Being.

To forgive
Finds us no longer
In the wake of
Dark and deepening shadows
Drifting across the landscape
Of precious Life.
It lifts the veil of awareness,
Like nothing ever happened.
Nothing.

Those who inflict pain,
As Jesus said,
“Do not know
What they do.”

They have not been Blessed
To understand
What it feels like

To find the Comfort,
The Kindness,

The Deep and Abiding Compassion
Found in Hearts
Touched by the Grace of God.

lisianthus-flowers

Embrace the Life He gives.  It is His Love.

We can never find healing
Looking back.
Today
Is the doorway
To tomorrow,
And tomorrow is yesterday
Lived over and over again,
Or transformed
Into today’s Dream
Forever.

The building blocks,
To restore what God
Has made in you

Are all around.
They come in many Blessed shapes,
And very many forms.
They are what you may least expect,
And more beautiful and durable
Than what we have found
In Life.

God in His Wisdom
Provides.
He always has,
Always will.
But often we fail to look
Through the lens
Of our hearts.

The mortar He will use
To cement the pieces
Of us that are left,

“Is the Peace of God,
which transcends all understanding,
and will guard
your hearts and your minds”.

(Philippians 4:7)

The building blocks are all around.

Like embraces
Warm and long,
And painted with laughter,
To last far longer
Perhaps, ever after.

From such moments
On cloudy days,

 We can find tears
Of Joy
Pouring down
Like the falling rain.

And the Capstone
Of the all the beauty,
Of the Likeness
Of our Hearts Renewed,
Is a Kiss,
Shaped by God
Into the Flower
Of Your Precious Being.

Just TWO cans
of sugary fizzy drinks a day
significantly increases the risk
heart attack,
diabetes and stroke.
Harvard University marks
the most comprehensive study
on sugary drinks to date:

Found 1 or 2 servings a day
linked to 26% greater risk of type 2 diabetes

35% greater risk of heart attack or heart disease
and 16% risk of stroke

Experts have called for urgent action
to reduce consumption of the drinks

My friends,
please keep pouring those
TOXIC soft drinks
down the drain.
Love your children enough
and BE STRONG enough
to let them live
long and happy lives.
There are healthy alternatives:
Fruit juices,
Unsweetened Tea,
Coffee (both have 60 antioxidants),
or how about
good old fashioned
WATER.
Now, I drink to that!

Sugar
is the favorite food
of CANCER!!!

Folks,
Your tears can easily
water the flowers
you place upon the

of your precious child.

Come on!
Wake up!

We see past what was into what will be.

One day,
You will be on the other side
Of all the beauty you have ever known,
And will come to
More clearly see,

As you gaze
Into the Mirror of time.
Looking back often reveals
What was meant to be.

15-9-18 Omni and Museum 022Beyond our poor capacity
To add or detract
From the Nature
Of what is real,
We now behold
A deeper perception,
That the future may affect

The present,
Much like the past

But with far less
Regret,
If that is your

the future are entangled,

and that events in the future
may influence things
happening in the world now”.

We walk arm in arm, today and tomorrow.

Eminent Princeton physicist John Wheeler
(who coined “black hole”)
said he was sure the universe was filled
with “huge clouds of uncertainty”
that haven’t yet interacted
either with a conscious observer
or even with some lump of inanimate matter.
In all these places, he said,
the cosmos is “a vast arena
containing realms
where the past is not yet the past.”

“Not only is the universe
stranger than we imagine,
it is stranger than we can imagine.”

In celebration of Life.

We walk
Arm in arm,
Today and tomorrow,
United in song
In celebration of Life,
Or quietly in despair,
And deep, deep regret.

But yesterday
Is neither this day,

Or any other to come,
Or ever will be.

The Museum of Science and History was fascinating.

Our lives are widening rivers
That flow to
An ever deepening Sea.
Sometimes gently,
At other times, so violently
Our tears become
Like the falling rain.

And as they Flow

They take what is left
Of our brief lives
Ever closer to the Sea,

Rylee and Kylee

They know what a square deal looks like.

Into the Heart of what was,
Of what came
To be,
Of never before
And never again,
Of you
And me.

For we are One,
The River,
You,

And me.
And over and over again,
On our way to the Sea,

There is discovery.

A curtain pulled back,
That opens up your heart,

Revealing what is Beyond,
What may come to be.

The Archer may pull
The Arrow of your time

And bend the bow back,
But the arrow
Moves forward,
To pierce all your tomorrows
With all your beautiful dreams.

15-9-18 Omni and Museum 046

Please take me home. No one has loved me for millions of years. OK! But don’t tell Mrs. A.

Ever moving,
Ever One.
And in the way it moves,
Life
Goes on.
What lies Beyond
Points the way
Home:
To Love
In new dimensions,
To Faith
In the future,
To Pathways
Of Salvation,
To Hope
For the Dawn
Of a new day,
Which surely will come.

Looking back
Is far beyond
What need be.

Only forward,
My friend,

Can you find Hope,
The comfort of Forgiveness,
And the Everlasting Love of God,
To one day
Clearly see.

Our Philosophers presented Zipf’s empirical law-formulated using statistics, referring to the fact that many types of data studied in the physical and social sciences can be approximated with a Zipfian distribution, one of a family of related discrete power law probability distributions. Physicist Yakir Aharonovhe says
“The future can exert
an overall pull on the present,

without ever being caught
in the act of doing it

The future can only affect the present
if there is room to write its influence off
as a mistake”.

15-9-18 Omni and Museum 040

Why don’t you buy this, Mrs. A. Ok. But don’t tell Dr. A.

For physicist Jeff Tollaksen,
the results are awe-inspiring
and a bit scary.

“It is upsetting philosophically,”
he concedes.

“All these experiments change
the way that I relate to time,

the way I experience myself.”
The results have led him
to wrestle with the idea

that the future is set.
If the universe has a destiny
that is already written,

do we really have a free choice in our actions?
Or are all our choices predetermined
to fit the universe’s script,
giving us only the
illusion of free will?

Tollaksen sums up this confounding argument
with one of his favorite quotes,
from the ancient Jewish sage Rabbi Akiva:

“All is foreseen;
but freedom of choice
is given.”

Reasons High Fructose Corn Syrup
Will Kill You

The average American increased their consumption of high fructose corn syrup (mostly from sugar sweetened drinks and processed food) from zero to over 60 pounds per person per year.

During that time period, obesity rates have more than tripled and diabetes incidence has increased more than seven fold.

When used even in moderation it is a major cause of heart disease, obesity, cancer, dementia, liver failure, tooth decay, and more.

In the same moment,
Unfathomable,

Attainable through the Heart,
Observable with the eyes
Of Love.

The Symphony of the Universe,
All sounds in Oneness,

The Better Angels

In quantum and ways unknowable,
Inseparable and Infinite,
Spirits placing Love

Imagined from Afar,
Only once
Will God’s Love
Be revealed
In who you are.

You are,
In the same breathtaking moment,
The sum of all possibilities,
And of One,
Sanctified, Revealed,
Singular and plural,
Pure
Love.

Disavows its Father,
Buries the One
Who gave it Birth,

Anxiety about doing math problems can be relieved with a one-on-one math tutoring, according to a new study from the Stanford University School of Medicine. Tutoring fixed abnormal responses in the brain’s fear circuits.

The study, which was published Sept. 9 in The Journal of Neuroscience, is the first to document an effective treatment for math anxiety in children.

“The most exciting aspect of our findings is that cognitive tutoring not only improves performance, but is also anxiety-reducing,” said the study’s senior author, Vinod Menon, PhD, professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences. “It was surprising that we could, in fact, get remediation of math anxiety.”

004

Fun and games at Main Event.

Even if they are good at math, many children feel anxious about doing math problems. For some, the anxiety persists throughout life, discouraging them from pursuing advanced math and science classes as well as careers that rely on mathematical expertise. Yet almost no attention has been paid to how to help alleviate this problem.

“Math anxiety has been under the radar,” said the study’s lead author, research associate Kaustubh Supekar, PhD. “People think it will just go away, but for many children and adults, it doesn’t.”

Measuring Math Anxiety

Sometimes we get the directions backward!

Sometimes we get the directions backward!

The new research was based on the idea that the principles of exposure-based therapy for treating phobias might also apply to alleviation of math anxiety. Phobias, such as the fear of spiders, can be relieved in affected individuals by repeatedly exposing them in a safe environment to the thing they fear.

“Tutoring has a standard protocol, but is also personalized,” said Menon. “If a child is stuck at a particular concept, the tutor tries to get the child beyond the bottleneck in a non-negative, encouraging way.” Because tutoring happens one-on-one, children do not have the opportunity to feel fearful about not performing as well as their peers.

Laser Tag is always a favorite.

By the way, the Anderson School has utilized tutors in Math and other subjects since its beginning. You may wish to employ a Tutor for your college age child. It is much more cost effective than repeating a course and your children will be less likely to get discouraged and drop out. read more

University of Michigan engineers have developed an innovative array of solar cells that can capture up to 40 percent more energy than conventional fixed solar cells.

The trick: borrowing from kirigami (the ancient Japanese art of paper cutting), the solar cells are aimed at different angles, allowing for part of the array to be always perpendicular to the Sun’s rays.

Two recently published studies in the journals Age and the British Journal of Nutrition demonstrate that consuming cocoa flavanols improves cardiovascular function and lessens the burden on the heart that comes with the aging and stiffening of arteries, while reducing the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

As we age, our blood vessels become less flexible and less able to expand to let blood flow and circulate normally,

By transferring your balance onto one of these cards, you immediately stop all interest charges during the introductory period (which is a LONG time).

For example, the BankAmericard offers 18 months at 0% APR, so during that entire 18 month intro period, you pay nothing in interest on any balance transferred. That could literally result in thousands of dollars in savings, and is simply a no brainer. With these offers out there, it just makes absolutely no sense to continue to pay high credit card interest on your current balances. Come on folks, wake up!

Well, without further ado, here are the very few cards offering great balance transfer specials: The Cards Which Not Only Don’t Charge, But Actually   – – – PAY YOU. – – –

Hey, take advantage of them for a change.

These are the very BEST deals I have found! Why not MAKE MONEY rather than pay exorbitantly high interest rates. Save the money and put it into a savings account for the kid’s college fund. Trust me, you will need the money then. By the way, when your introductory period is up, transfer the balance to another great offer. They are always out there.

Chase Freedom Card: 15 Months of 0% Intro APR, 1% Cash Back Rewards Program, $100 bonus. No annual fee.

Citi Double Cash Card: 15 Months of 0% Intro APR, 2% Cash Back Rewards Program. No annual fee. read more

Freezerless Refrigerator

refridg

My Dear Friends,
I am not a salesman for Sears. But, the Kenmore freezerless all-refrigerator is designed to operate efficiently in unheated locations with ambient temperature as low at 10 degrees Fahrenheit. You can place this refrigerator in a cold garage or basement without worrying that your fresh foods will freeze. Believe it or not, Eskimos buy refrigerators to keep food from freezing!

But this is what I especially like about it: it is a freezer with the thermostat set above freezing. The end result is that it is especially well insulated (to be a freezer) and saves money in electrical costs. We have one at the school (actually, our second model designed like this). We have no real need for a freezer at school and do not waste electricity to bring the temperature down to well below freezing. It is something I wanted to share with you.

And please, pass along your ideas to help each other. I will be glad to post them on this weblog. And LET ME HEAR FROM YOU. I need to know what you think, how you feel about this weblog. What are you interested in reading about?

Hey, were all just friends and family.

And we are more family than you were aware of. Geneticists have discovered that we ALL originated in heart of Africa, and from one female. In 1987, a group of geneticists published a surprising study in the prestigious journal Nature

Yes, geneticists concluded that every person on Earth right now can trace his or her lineage back to a single common female ancestor who lived around 200,000 years ago. read more

The scientists named this common female ancestor Mitochondrial Eve. Isn’t it interesting that they would name her EVE.

Science and Theology are quickly merging – becoming ONE. The story that one has told is the story the other is telling.

Just as we are: ONE!

May God
always abide with you

and show you the way
to discover the Joy
hidden deep inside
your precious Heart.
Yes, my friend
It is there.

you miss life.”

Around School 5-5-14 001 - Prof. Lacey

Dedicated to our very own Professor of Epic Literature, Latin and Greek, Mr. Lacey. Among the greatest Blessings in my life, and the lives of so many others, is knowing this gentle Heart, this Loving Soul. What an Honor to know Mr. Harry H. Lacey. Human kindness is overflowing in the life of this truly remarkable man.  Thank you for all you do.                                We Love you too.

Unbelievable. A bird raised her young inside our cast iron Rabbit welded to the railing. “Uh, what’s up Doc?”

And it becomes apparent that we,
who are almost
nonexistent,
know next to nothing
about anything.

But we keep
wondering
about everything,
not realizing
that the things
we think about,
may not even
exist at all.

There is so very little

So, let’s either wake up or go back to sleep,

But what ever you choose to do,
give thanks to your Loving Creator.

He made you out of
virtually nothing,
nothing but Love.

You are Love.
And you are deeply Loved.

Perhaps saying
“I Love you”
has a much deeper meaning
than we will ever
be able
to fully realize.

        Nothing but Love

“The nature of ‘reality’
is not only stranger than you imagine,
it’s stranger than you can imagine!

There is a saying that
“truth is stranger than fiction”
and this certainly applies to the nature of reality,
because in the light of increasing evidence,
what we have accepted to be the ‘truth’
about our everyday reality
is much more like the ‘fiction’
of our everyday reality.”

Our students honor the Loving memory of Anne Frank and over a million precious Jewish children lost to the evil of the holocaust. No. We shall never forget. Never. And we shall never stop Loving you.

The precious winds of time
Sometimes blow
Only one way,
Sometimes, we feel,
Not at all.

Such a gentle flowing breeze
At dawn of day,
Reminds us of our brief stay,
Whispering your name,
Beckoning you to stay
In Love
With this Precious Gift of Life
One more day.

Should you pause
And close your eyes,
Your heart
May see again,
Past the darkening nights

Into the Light
Of forgiveness,
Into the soft, glowing
Eternity

The passing gentle breeze,
Across the beauty
Of the morning sky,
You cannot deny,
The very Breath of God.

Dr. A with Annie and Alex (a few years ago. OK. Maybe a few more than a few.)

My Dear Friends,
Reach beyond who you are.
Live in the lives of those around you.
Move your mind, body, and spirit.
Step out of your comfort zone,
Open up the vast,
Unexplored space
Inside your Heart.

It too
Has no horizon,
No boundary,
No limit.

Your Love
Is Infinite.
It flows through you
From the Infinite Love
Of God.

Superfoods
for Coping with Stress

When it comes to combating stress levels,
what you eat may help relieve your tension.
Some foods may help stabilize blood sugar
or your emotional response.
Here are12 foods to reach for
(GREAT for KIDS):

Green leafy vegetables

Like spinach they contain folate, which produces dopamine, a pleasure-inducing brain chemical, helping you keep calm,” says Heather Mangieri, RDN, of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. A 2012 study in the Journal of Affective Disorders of 2,800 middle-aged and elderly people and found those who consumed the most folate had a lower risk of depression. A 2013 study from the University of Otago found that college students tended to feel calmer, happier, and more energetic on days they ate more fruits and veggies.

Turkey breast

Tryptophan in turkey is to blame for that food coma on Thanksgiving.  The amino acid, found in protein-containing foods, helps produce serotonin, “the chemical that regulates hunger and feelings of happiness and well-being,” In a 2006 study published in the Journal of Psychiatry Neuroscience, men and women who were argumentative (based on personality tests) who took tryptophan were perceived as more agreeable compared with when they didn’t take it. (Canadian Institutes of Health Research) Other foods high in tryptophan include nuts, seeds, tofu, fish, lentils, oats, beans, and eggs.

Oatmeal

According to MIT research, carbohydrates can help the brain make serotonin, the same substance regulated by antidepressants. A complex carb like oatmeal won’t contribute to your already potential spike in blood glucose.”

Yogurt

A 2013 UCLA study revealed that consuming probiotics in yogurt reduced brain activity in areas that handle emotion, including stress. You really can’t go wrong by adding more of it to your diet.

Salmon

Ratchet up anxiety hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. The omega-3 fatty acids in salmon help counteract the negative effects of stress hormones,” according to Lisa Cimperman, RD, of the University Hospitals Case Medical Center. In a study funded by the National Institutes of Health, Oregon State University medical students who took omega-3 supplements had a 20% reduction in anxiety. One 3-ounce serving of cooked wild salmon can have more than 2,000 milligrams of omega-3s, double the daily intake recommended by the American Heart Association for people with heart disease.

Blueberries blueberries

The antioxidants and phytonutrients found in berries help improve your body’s response to stress and fight stress-related free radicals.” Research has also shown that blueberry eaters experience a boost in natural killer cells, “a type of white blood cell that plays a vital role in immunity according to Cynthia Sass, MPH, RD, Health’s contributing nutrition editor.

pistaciosPistachios

When you have an ongoing loop of negative thoughts playing in your mind, doing something repetitive with your hands may help silence your inner monologue. Think knitting or kneading bread—or even shelling nuts like pistachios or peanuts. The rhythmic moves will help you relax. Pistachios have heart-health benefits. Eating pistachios reduce acute stress by lowering blood pressure and heart rate. They contain key phytonutrients that provide antioxidant support for cardiovascular health.

Dark chocolate

Just a bite, not a whole bar, of dark chocolate can help to regulate your stress levels. Research has shown that it can reduce your stress hormones, including cortisol. The antioxidants in cocoa trigger the walls of your blood vessels to relax, lowering blood pressure and improving circulation. Dark chocolate contains unique natural substances that create a sense of euphoria similar to the feeling of being in love!” Go for varieties that contain at least 70% cocoa.

milkMilk

Fortified milk is an excellent source of vitamin D, a nutrient to boost happiness. A 50-year-long study by London’s UCL Institute of Child Health found an association between reduced levels of vitamin D and an increased risk of panic and depression. People whith sufficient vitamin D levels had a reduced risk of panic disorders. Other foods high in vitamin D include salmon, egg yolks, and fortified cereal.

Seeds

Flaxseed, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds are great sources of magnesium (as are leafy greens, yogurt, nuts, and fish). Loading up on the mineral helps regulate emotions. Magnesium has been shown to help alleviate depression, fatigue, and irritability.

Avocadoalvacado

This superfruit helps shut down stress-eating by filling your belly and making you feel more satisfied. In a 2014 study by Loma Linda University (which we MUST note was sponsored by the Hass Avocado Board), reduced desire to eat more by 40% for the three hours.

cashewsCashews

Researchers gave zinc supplements to people who were diagnosed with anxiety symptoms (irritability, lack of ability to concentrate) and patients saw a 31% decrease in anxiety, according to Nutrition and Metabolic Insights. Zinc affects the levels of a nerve chemical that influences mood. Other zinc-rich foods are oysters, beef, chicken, and yogurt. Cashews are also rich in omega-3s and protein, so they’re a smart snack.
