The Brevity of Our Being / Ways to Be Incredibly Happy / Classes Resume Tuesday, Sept. 4

Between the moments the stone touches the water.

Precious memories
are
like a stone
we throw
to skip across the water,
in a moment
we choose
to raise the level
of our awareness.

Between
the moments
the stone touches the water,
thoughts can intervene,
and fly away with
awareness
never before
seen.

The tide washes aplenty our footprints upon the shore.

Between the beats
of a Human Heart,
reality can seem
to be flung far away,
like a dream
within
a dream.

Our smiles
for one another,
our Hearts
compassionate in beating,
our moments
held in Loving greeting,
are like the stones
we throw,
to skip across the water
of our Sacred
Being.

Moments of Joy

The tide
washes aplenty
our footprints
upon the shore,
like so many
moments of Joy
we all too often
ignore.

There is so much
of Life to live,
when we choose
not to take,
but give.

Yes,
a lack of
understanding
has its advantages,
but not many.

There is so much of Life to live.

The Love
we dare
to share,
can inspire each
moment
to move forward
through time and space,
and spiral outward
in a never ending
trajectory
directed toward
the very Heart
of God.

  The journey of Life
cannot truly end
until begins.

And,
My Dear Friends,
the end is near
the beginning.
The exit
is through the
Gift Shop.
And
for the Gift
of God’s Love
the price is
always –
free.

Goodnight.

The Love we dare to share.

Scientifically Proven Ways
to Be Incredibly Happy

by Belle Beth Cooper,
Content Crafter at Buffer

It’s easy to think of happiness as a result, but happiness is also a driver.

One example: While I’m definitely into finding ways to improve personal productivity (whether a one-day burst, or a lifetime, or things you should not do every day), probably the best way to be more productive is to just be happier. Happy people accomplish more.

Easier said than done though, right?

Actually, many changes are easy. Here are 10 science-based ways to be happier from Belle Beth Cooper, Content Crafter at Buffer, the social media management tool that lets you schedule, automate, and analyze social media updates.

Here’s Beth:

1. Exercise: 7 Minutes Could Be Enough

Think exercise is something you don’t have time for? Think again. Check out the  7 minute workout mentioned in The New York Times. That’s a workout any of us can fit into our schedules.

Exercise has such a profound effect on our happiness and well-being that it is an effective strategy for overcoming depression. In a study cited in Shawn Achor’s book The Happiness Advantage, three groups of patients treated their depression with medication, exercise, or a combination of the two. The results of this study are surprising: Although all three groups experienced similar improvements in their happiness levels early on, the follow-up assessments proved to be radically different:

The groups were then tested six months later to assess their relapse rate. Of those who had taken the medication alone, 38 percent had slipped back into depression. Those in the combination group were doing only slightly better, with a 31 percent relapse rate. The biggest shock, though, came from the exercise group: Their relapse rate was only 9 percent.

You don’t have to be depressed to benefit from exercise, though. Exercise can help you relax, increase your brain power, and even improve your body image, even if you don’t lose any weight.

We’ve explored exercise in depth before, and looked at what it does to our brains, such as releasing proteins and endorphins that make us feel happier.

A study in the Journal of Health Psychology found that people who exercised felt better about their bodies even when they saw no physical changes:

Body weight, shape and body image were assessed in 16 males and 18 females before and after both 6 × 40 minutes exercising and 6 × 40 minutes reading. Over both conditions, body weight and shape did not change. Various aspects of body image, however, improved after exercise compared to before.

Even if your actual appearance doesn’t change, how you feel about your body does change.

2. Sleep More: You’ll Be Less Sensitive to Negative Emotions

We know that sleep helps our body recover from the day and repair itself and that it helps us focus and be more productive. It turns out sleep is also important for happiness. In NutureShock, Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman explain how sleep affects positivity:

3. Spend More Time With Friends/Family: Money Can’t Buy You Happiness

Staying in touch with friends and family is one of the top five regrets of the dying.

If you want more evidence that time with friends is beneficial for you, research proves it can make you happier right now, too.

Social time is highly valuable when it comes to improving our happiness, even for introverts. Several studies have found that time spent with friends and family makes a big difference to how happy we feel.

I love the way Harvard happiness expert Daniel Gilbert explains it:

We are happy when we have family, we are happy when we have friends and almost all the other things we think make us happy are actually just ways of getting more family and friends.

4. Get Outside More: Happiness is Maximized at 57°

In The Happiness Advantage, Shawn Achor recommends spending time in the fresh air to improve your happiness:

Making time to go outside on a nice day also delivers a huge advantage; one study found that spending 20 minutes outside in good weather not only boosted positive mood, but broadened thinking and improved working memory…

This is pretty good news for those of us who are worried about fitting new habits into our already-busy schedules. Twenty minutes is a short enough time to spend outside that you could fit it into your commute or even your lunch break.

A UK study from the University of Sussex also found that being outdoors made people happier:

Being outdoors, near the sea, on a warm, sunny weekend afternoon is the perfect spot for most. In fact, participants were found to be substantially happier outdoors in all natural environments than they were in urban environments.

The American Meteorological Society published research in 2011 that found current temperature has a bigger effect on our happiness than variables like wind speed and humidity, or even the average temperature over the course of a day. It also found that happiness is maximized at 57 degrees (13.9°C), so keep an eye on the weather forecast before heading outside for your 20 minutes of fresh air.

The connection between productivity and temperature is another topic we’ve talked about more here. It’s fascinating what a small change in temperature can do.
.

5. Help Others: 100 Hours a Year is the Magic Number

One of the most counter-intuitive pieces of advice I found is that to make yourself feel happier, you should help others. In fact, 100 hours per year (or two hours per week) is the optimal time we should dedicate to helping others in order to enrich our lives.

If we go back to Shawn Achor’s book again, he says this about helping others:

…when researchers interviewed more than 150 people about their recent purchases, they found that money spent on activities–such as concerts and group dinners out–brought far more pleasure than material purchases like shoes, televisions, or expensive watches. Spending money on other people, called “prosocial spending,” also boosts happiness.

The Journal of Happiness Studies published a study that explored this very topic.

6. Practice Smiling: Reduce Pain, Improve Mood, Think Better

Smiling can make us feel better, but it’s more effective when we back it up with positive thoughts, according to this study:

A new study led by a Michigan State University business scholar suggests customer-service workers who fake smile throughout the day worsen their mood and withdraw from work, affecting productivity. But workers who smile as a result of cultivating positive thoughts – such as a tropical vacation or a child’s recital – improve their mood and withdraw less.

Of course it’s important to practice “real smiles” where you use your eye sockets. (You’ve seen fake smiles that don’t reach the person’s eyes. Try it. Smile with just your mouth. Then smile naturally; your eyes narrow. There’s a huge difference in a fake smile and a genuine smile.)

According to PsyBlog, smiling can improve our attention and help us perform better on cognitive tasks:

Smiling makes us feel good which also increases our attentional flexibility and our ability to think holistically. When this idea was tested by Johnson et al. (2010), the results showed that participants who smiled performed better on attentional tasks which required seeing the whole forest rather than just the trees.

A smile is also a good way to reduce some of the pain we feel in troubling circumstances:

Smiling is one way to reduce the distress caused by an upsetting situation. Psychologists call this the facial feedback hypothesis. Even forcing a smile when we don’t feel like it is enough to lift our mood slightly (this is one example of embodied cognition).

7. Plan a Trip: It Helps Even if You Don’t Actually Take One.

As opposed to actually taking a holiday, simply planning a vacation or break from work can improve our happiness. A study published in the journal Applied Research in Quality of Life showed that the highest spike in happiness came during the planning stage of a vacation as people enjoy the sense of anticipation:

In the study, the effect of vacation anticipation boosted happiness for eight weeks. After the vacation, happiness quickly dropped back to baseline levels for most people.

Shawn Achor has some info for us on this point, as well:

One study found that people who just thought about watching their favorite movie actually raised their endorphin levels by 27 percent.

If you can’t take the time for a vacation right now, or even a night out with friends, put something on the calendar – even if it’s a month or a year down the road. Then, whenever you need a boost of happiness, remind yourself about it.

8. Meditate: Rewire Your Brain for Happiness

Meditation is often touted as an important habit for improving focus, clarity, and attention span, as well as helping to keep you calm. It turns out it’s also useful for improving your happiness😐

In one study, a research team from Massachusetts General Hospital looked at the brain scans of 16 people before and after they participated in an eight-week course in mindfulness meditation. The study, published in the January issue of Psychiatry Research: Neuro-imaging, concluded that after completing the course, parts of the participants’ brains associated with compassion and self-awareness grew, and parts associated with stress shrank.

Meditation literally clears your mind and calms you down, it’s been often proven to be the single most effective way to live a happier life.  According to Achor, meditation can actually make you happier long-term:

Studies show that in the minutes right after meditating, we experience feelings of calm and contentment, as well as heightened awareness and empathy. And, research even shows that regular meditation can permanently rewire the brain to raise levels of happiness.

The fact that we can actually alter our brain structure through mediation is most surprising to me and somewhat reassuring that however we feel and think today isn’t permanent.

9. Move Closer to Work: A Short Commute is Worth More Than a Big House

Our commute to work can have a surprisingly powerful impact on our happiness. The fact that we tend to commute twice a day at least five days a week makes it unsurprising that the effect would build up over time and make us less and less happy.

Having a long commute is something we often fail to realize will affect us so dramatically:

… while many voluntary conditions don’t affect our happiness in the long term because we acclimate to them, people never get accustomed to their daily slog to work because sometimes the traffic is awful and sometimes it’s not.

Or as Harvard psychologist Daniel Gilbert put it, “Driving in traffic is a different kind of hell every day.”

We tend to try to compensate for this by having a bigger house or a better job, but these compensations just don’t work:

Two Swiss economists who studied the effect of commuting on happiness found that such factors could not make up for the misery created by a long commute.

10. Practice Gratitude: Increase Happiness and Satisfaction

This is a seemingly simple strategy but I’ve personally found it to make a huge difference to my outlook. There are lots of ways to practice gratitude, from keeping a journal of things you’re grateful for, sharing three good things that happen each day with a friend or your partner, and going out of your way to show gratitude when others help you.

In an experiment where participants took note of things they were grateful for each day, their moods were improved just from this simple practice:

The gratitude – outlook groups exhibited heightened well-being across several, though not all, of the outcome measures across the three studies, relative to the comparison groups. The effect on positive affect appeared to be the most robust finding. Results suggest that a conscious focus on blessings may have emotional and interpersonal benefits.

The Journal of Happiness studies published a study that used letters of gratitude to test how being grateful can affect our levels of happiness:

Participants included 219 men and women who wrote three letters of gratitude over a 3 week period. Results indicated that writing letters of gratitude increased participants’ happiness and life satisfaction while decreasing depressive symptoms.

Quick Final Fact: Getting Older Will Actually Make You Happier

As we get older, particularly past middle age, we tend to naturally grow happier. There’s still some debate over why this happens, but scientists have a few ideas:

Researchers, including the authors, have found that older people shown pictures of faces or situations tend to focus on and remember the happier ones more and the negative ones less.

Other studies have discovered that as people age, they seek out situations that will lift their moods – for instance, pruning social circles of friends or acquaintances who might bring them down. Still other work finds that older adults learn to let go of loss and disappointment over unachieved goals, and focus their goals on greater well being.

So if you thought getting old will make you miserable, it’s likely you’ll develop a more positive outlook than you probably have now.

How cool is that?

The Game of Life / Chemicals for ADHD? – NO! / Sept. 4 is near

sunset

A Glorious Day

As our lives
spill into each other,
they mirror
the deeper meanings
of shallow moments.
Our masks of clay
cast shadows
over moments at play,
darkening the Sunrise
of a glorious Day.

To never know
the taste of defeat,
forgive the ignorance
we meet,
and let your Heart
greet
all the Joy it desires,
and the Love
it inspires.

couple

Our lives spill into each other.

Knowing yourself
is Victory
beyond Belief.

To truly Love
others,
give them
the lingering Sunset
of your Smiles,
the desire to walk
many, many miles,
in the shadow
of your fascination
with Life.

What is truly
real,
is every moment
we feel
Love
is in the air,
Love is
everywhere,
and here
and now
and there.

In the shadow of your fascination with Life.

True Love
is playing the
Game of Life
with no one
keeping score,
as the rhythms of Life
we feel,
and the rest
we ignore.

There are moments
when we fade into
what may seem
like the rewind
of yesterday,
our of sync
with time,
and not on
a scale we deem
real.

The Rhythms of Life

But
the ravaged places
of past spaces,
is a future of
hand-me-downs.
So Live
in the unmissable montage
of the melodies
of this moment.
Each Life,
lived with dedication
to be
in the now,
cries out loud
with disbelief
at all the Beauty
in its Being.

My Dear Friends,
don’t
just leave your
precious Children
in your will,
leave them
the will,
to truly live
and always Love
everyone,
and every Living Thing.

The unmissable montage of the melodies of this moment.

Those in Love
with Life
are never apart
from the Love
of God.

We fade into what may seem like the rewind of yesterday.

Chemicals for ADD and ADHD?

Something is wrong,
but not with your precious child.
God, in His Wisdom, has never created a child
He did not deeply Love.
The concern you express for your child
is part of that abiding Love.

Please consult with your physician
and ask him or her to remove your child
from all the harmful chemicals
that will create more and more issues as time passes.
The research that is readily available
has led to the conclusion that
no child should be subjected to the long term effects
of these substances.
And very few longitudinal studies
have been conducted.

Please type the name of your child’s prescription(s)
combined with two more words,
“____   and cancer“,
and read the results.
Yes,
you will be horrified.

The Drug Enforcement Administration
has classified Methylphenidate (Ritalin)
as a Schedule II drug, comparable to
Cocaine.

Methylphenidate
is also one of the top ten abused prescription drugs.
Ritalin causes constriction of veins and arteries,
causing the heart to work overtime
and inevitably leading to damage to the organ itself.

It is a violation of parent’s rights
when they are not told of the unscientific nature
of so-called disorders such as ADHD
or the risks of the treatments involving drugs
like Ritalin.

Did you know that by labeling your child with ADHD,
you are actually labeling them with a mental illness?

Did you know that a child taking a psycho-tropic,
psycho-stimulant drugs like Ritalin
after the age of 12
is ineligible for military service?

Why?
What do they know that we do not know?

Did you know
that the subjective checklists that are being used
as criteria for diagnosis are very similar
to the checklists used to determine
Gifted and Talented Children?

These two checklists are almost
identical.

My Dear Friends,
bright children are not passive players
in the game of life.
They are active.
Such activity is a NATURAL by-product
of high intelligence.

Get on your knees and Thank God
you have NORMAL, intelligent and yes,
ACTIVE children.
What a Blessing!

Did you know that there are studies,
such as the Berkeley Study,
that contend that Ritalin and other stimulants
further raise the risk of drug abuse?
Ritalin makes the brain more susceptible
to the addictive power of cocaine
and doubles the risk of abuse.

Children are dying from ADHD Drugs

Sadly, the deaths of many children
has remained unexposed and suppressed for so long
because there is a tremendous amount
of money and profit at stake for so many.

Between 1990 and 2000 there were 186 deaths
from methylphenidate reported
to the FDA MedWatch program,
a voluntary reporting scheme,
the numbers of which represent no more
than 10 to 20% of the actual incidence.

We need to expose the health risks, dangers, deaths
and suicides
that are a direct result of administering Ritalin
and other psychiatric drugs to children.

Does Ritalin Increase Cancer Risk in Children?

Research is raising concerns about the drug Ritalin,
suggesting that children who take it
may have an increased risk of cancer.

All 12 of the children included in a University of Texas study
experienced an increase in chromosome abnormalities
just three months after starting Ritalin.
Chromosome damage has been linked
to heightened cancer risk
and to other health problems.

Lead researcher Randa A. El-Zein, MD, PhD, and colleagues
found a THREEFOLD increase
in the level of chromosomal damage
in the samples taken after the children were started
on Ritalin.

Several animal studies have also suggested
a link between Ritalin use
and cancer.

         Come on Folks!
Wake UP!

What needs to change
is the academic environment.
It needs to allow for normal active children.
Hyperactive children simply do not exist.
Most boys are highly active
and for a good reason.
It relates to the survival of the species.
Think about it!

And common LOGIC dictates what is so apparent:
WE ARE A PART OF NATURE
NOT APART FROM NATURE.

Your child is acting normal!
Put him or her outside in the fresh air
with God’s bountiful sunshine
and allow for activity.

Take advantage
of the high activity level
and enroll your child in a great sports program.
Wear him or her out on the soccer field
or playing a ball game like baseball
or camping out with a Scout Troop, etc., etc. etc.
Instead of drugging up your kid,
set him up for recognition for his athletic ability.
Take advantage of the GIFT
of being a healthy active
HUMAN being.

Don’t bury your loved one in an early grave
because you lack the courage to say NO.
Don’t just say it,
shout  “NO”!

There is Beauty in courage.
There is no need to water the flowers
you place on the grave
of your precious child with your tears.
Tears should be shed only for
Joy.

INVITE the dim wit who insisted
your child become a lab rat
to take the drug instead.
Yes,
insist they go on the drug first.
Look into their horrified eyes
when they scream,
“What?”

bix 2

If you are not a strong advocate for your child,
NO ONE WILL BE.
That is why God gave you HIS child –
to shelter the deeply loved from the storms of Life,
to protect, to Honor, to serve, and LOVE
above all things on this Earth.
And Love my Friend,
is courage.

Please take the time to research these substances
and have your precious son or daughter
removed from them.
I would also change my physician.
If he or she has taken the convenient,
and profitable way,
to medically treat your family,
then he or she needs to be
removed from service.

Obviously,
the good Doctor has not researched the topic
to the degree enough to reach a compassionate,
reliably informed and reasonable conclusion.

The qualifications of physicians also follow,
like everything else in Life,
the bell-shaped curve of probability.
Some are at the lower end of expectations
relative to the awareness of what they do.
Some will write a prescription for anything.
Just be sure to pay the bill on your way out.

Motor vehicle deaths as recently as 2013 totaled
32,719.
But, in recent years,
there has been an annual average
|of about 400,000 drug related deaths
and serious injuries in a hospital
that could have been prevented
(those we know about).
Which leads me to conclude
that the most dangerous place in this country
is not on America’s highways,
but in the doctor’s waiting room.

Like Jesus said,
“Forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
They truly do not know.

Your instinctive and abiding Love for your child
allows for insight into what is happening.
Please follow your instincts.
God has given them to you for a reason.
And that reason always points to His abundant Love
for you and your child.

Your child is perfection,
as are all of God’s children.

Please remove your children from all substances
that tarnish the Will of God.
What is truly needed
is the abundant Love of our Lord
that flows through you.
That is all your children
will ever need.

“The point,
is for Beauty.
Simplistic, joyous Beauty;
complicated, twisted Beauty
– the Beauty of courage,
the Beauty of loss.
For if there is a Something Else out there,
it is surely hidden
among the Beauty of this World.”

– Isabella Rogge

Immanuel Kant

The shadows of thoughts.

We have discovered
that Quantum-mechanically,
two electrons are part of
a single quantum state,
no matter how far apart they are.
They are not independent, well-separated objects.
In fact,
quantum mechanics tells us that,
until
we measure the position of either electron,
we cannot say for certain where it is located.
And
it can be
everywhere
at once.

“The Eyes

Reality
is appearing to be
far different than
what we thought,
and exactly
what we have
felt
Love

Music
that is our being.

The Music or Harmony
of the Spheres
is an ancient Philosophical concept
that looks at the movements of Celestial bodies
such as the Sun and Moon and Planets
as a form of Music.
It is not thought to be literally audible,
but Harmonic, Mathematical and Religious
in its concept.
Scientific exploration has determined
some orbital motions

“With you Eternally mine,
In Love there is

We planned it all at the start
That you and I

We may be oceans away.
You feel my love,
I hear what you say.”

lies beyond
our comprehension.

                               My Friends,
as we reflect
upon the humbling thoughts
of Life
and Living,
we paint our own Portraits
from a palette
of lighter and darker
shades of gray,
and look with eyes
at shadows
of the days gone by,
for which we
often grieve.

“I’d like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly.
It’s hard to say that I’d rather stay,
Awake when I’m asleep
‘Cause everything
is never as it seems.

My,
how our people have suffered
for their sanity,
never knowing
Colors
change their hues,
and weathered faces
lined with pain
can be soothed
by our Artist’s
Loving Hand.

Colors change their hues.

The dark, flat land
upon which we often stride,
can be ablaze
in morning’s eye,
and abide

with Flowers flaming
brightly

and clouds swirling
lightly.

Yes,
our World

was created to be
Beautiful for
YOU.

    Flowers flaming brightly.

Let God
hold you in His Embrace,
and fall
in Love with Life
again.

“God
is more me
than I am
myself.”
St. Augustine

Heaven
is in the moment,
the precious moment,
when you
become real,
and understand
the Love
that is YOU,
and that, My Friend,
is all
you really need
to know.

Goodnight.

        How our people have suffered.

“There’s nothing you can do
that can’t be done,

Nothing you can sing
that can’t be sung,

Nothing you can say
but you can learn how to play

It’s easy.

Nothing you can make
that can’t be made,

No one you can save
that can’t be saved,

Nothing you can do
but you can learn how to be,
YOU
in time.

It’s easy.

All
you need is

Why is Coffee Good For You?
Here Are 7 Reasons
By Kris Gunnars, BSc
To read full article click here

In recent years and decades,
scientists have studied the effects of coffee
on various aspects of health
and their results have been nothing short of amazing.
Here are 7 reasons why coffee
may actually be one of the
healthiest
beverages on the planet.

1. Coffee Can Make You Smarter

The active ingredient in coffee is caffeine, which is a stimulant and the most commonly consumed psychoactive substance in the world. Caffeine’s primary mechanism in the brain is blocking the effects of an inhibitory neurotransmitter called Adenosine.
By blocking the inhibitory effects of Adenosine,
caffeine actually increases neuronal firing in the brain
and the release of other neurotransmitters
like dopamine and norepinephrine.

Many controlled trials have examined
the effects of caffeine on the brain,
demonstrating that caffeine can improve mood, reaction time,
memory, vigilance and general cognitive function.

2. Coffee Can Help You Burn Fat
and Improves Physical Performance

There’s a good reason why you will find caffeine
in most commercial fat burning supplements.

Caffeine raises metabolism
and increases the oxidation of fatty acids.

3. Coffee May Drastically Lower
Your Risk of Type II Diabetes

Type II diabetes is a lifestyle-related disease
that has reached epidemic proportions,
having increased 10-fold in a few decades
and now afflicting about 300 million people.

In observational studies,
coffee has been repeatedly associated with a
lower risk of diabetes.
The reduction in risk ranges from 23%
all the way up to 67%.

A massive review article looked at 18 studies
with a total of 457,922 participants.
Each additional cup of coffee per day
lowered the risk of diabetes by 7%.
The more coffee people drank,
the lower their risk.

4. Coffee May Lower Your Risk
of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s

Not only can coffee make you smarter in the short term,
it may also protect your brain in old age.

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common
neurodegenerative disorder in the world
and a leading cause of dementia.

In prospective studies,
coffee drinkers have up to a
60% lower risk
of Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Parkinson’s
is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder,
characterized by death of dopamine-generating neurons in the brain.
Coffee may lower the risk of Parkinson’s by 32-60%.

5. Coffee May be Extremely Good
For Your Liver

The liver is a remarkable organ
that carries out hundreds of vital functions in the body.

It is very vulnerable to modern insults
such as excess consumption of alcohol and fructose.
Cirrhosis is the end stage of liver damage
caused by diseases like alcoholism and hepatitis,
where liver tissue has been largely replaced by scar tissue.

Multiple studies have shown
that coffee can lower the risk of cirrhosis
by as much as 80%,
the strongest effect for those
who drank 4 or more cups per day.

Coffee may also lower the risk of
liver cancer
by around 40%.

6. Coffee May Decrease
Your Risk of Dying

In two very large prospective epidemiological studies,
drinking coffee was associated with
a lower risk of death by all causes.

This effect is particularly profound in type II diabetics,
one study showing that coffee drinkers
had a 30% lower risk of death during a 20 year period.

7. Coffee is Loaded
With Nutrients and Antioxidants

Many of the nutrients in the coffee beans do make it into the final drink, which actually contains a decent amount of vitamins and minerals.

ONE cup of coffee contains:

6% of the RDA for Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5).
11% of the RDA for Riboflavin (Vitamin B2).
2% of the RDA for Niacin (B3) and Thiamine (B1).
3% of the RDA for Potassium and Manganese.

May not seem like much,
but if you drink several cups of coffee per day
then this quickly adds up.

But this isn’t all.
Coffee also contains a massive amount of
antioxidants.

In fact,
coffee is the biggest source of antioxidants
in the western diet,
outranking both fruits and vegetables combined.

Even though coffee in moderate amounts is good for you,
drinking way too much of it can still be harmful.

To make sure to preserve the health benefits,
don’t put sugar
or anything nasty in your coffee!
If it tends to affect your sleep,
then don’t drink it after 2 p.m.

If anything, coffee may literally be
the healthiest beverage
on the planet.

And so, My Friends,
instead of allowing your children
to drink deadly and addictive soft drinks,
why not introduce them to something healthy?
Yes,
like coffee.

          The Love that is YOU.

Everywhere I look / Questions for Deep Reflection / Important Dates

                         The allure of the unknown.

There is more
Majesty
in Mystery,
than in
knowing,
more Time
in a moment of
Wonder,
than in certainty,
drawn asunder.

Knowing
possesses innate limitations,
while
never knowing,
contains elements
of the Eternal,
and the allure
of the unknown.

                            We long to comprehend.

Deeply embedded
within our desire
to know,
dwells
a more deeply seated
need,
to accept
the unknown.

Yes,
we long to comprehend
the unfathomable Mysteries
of the Universe.

  But so often
as we look back,
what began with a deep focus,
faded to
black.

                               Everywhere we look.

But,
everywhere we look,
God’s Love
we find.
Victory belongs to the
power
of this Love.
Christ came to bring us
that message.

My Friends,
when our Time
on Earth
is through,
the only thing
that will truly matter,
is that someone Loved
YOU.

The only thing that will truly matter.

As science and technology
permeate more and more
dimensions unknown,
and our consciousness
opens wide the door
for the “unnatural”
to become more and more
of the “natural”,
our separation from
the Beautiful World of Nature
will widen
evermore.

The Majesty of Mystery
gives us connection
to Life itself.
The reason
is Beautifully
Mysterious.

 “All our knowledge
brings us nearer to our
ignorance
.

And all our ignorance brings us nearer to
death.

But nearer to death,
no nearer to God.

Where is the life,’ he asks,
‘that we have lost in living?’
It is possible, is it not, to lose Life
while you are living it.”
T. S. Elliot

Interestingly,
a Japanese researcher,
Mr. Emoto,
has studied water crystals
and observed the molecular changes    in water
resulting from our thoughts,               our words
and even our music.
Loving and happy thoughts
form Beautiful crystalline patterns,
and hateful and unhappy thoughts
form distorted crystalline patterns.

Positive thoughts create
positive realities.

Heartbreak Hotel,  by Elvis Presley

The research of Mr. Emoto
indicates that consciousness
permeates all things,
even and especially,
us.

According to H.H. Mitchell
in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, the brain and Heart
are composed of 73% water,
the lungs are about 83% water,
the skin 64% water,
muscles and kidneys 79%,
and our bones are 31% water.

Little wonder
that our very fragile,
water born bodies
are highly susceptible
to damage due to
our separation from the positive

as so many precious lives
fade to
black.

Knowledge,

limitations.

Is has been well established
that Psycho-social and environmental
stress factors contribute to
self-destructive behavior.
And the environment
WE created
is replete with
many causes of
stress.
It seems
that we forgot
what Life is truly
all about.

My Dear Friends,
have you lost
Loved ones,
as have I,
who never knew

Loved them?

Why?

you

God exists

My Dear Parents,
precious is the sound
a child hears,
when you say
out of Love,
NO.
This far
you may come
and no farther
.

To know
this sound belongs
to me,
coming through you
from Above,
is to know
another way
you say the word,
Love.

Eternity
lies enfolded within
a Sacred
sigh
of relief,
knowing your child
is safe,
within the sound of your voice,
and Joyfully living
between two beats
of your Heart,
the one past
and the one
to be.

Eternity
lies between
not knowing,
and knowing,
YOU
are
within reach.

Eternity

Questions
for Deep Reflection
from Job 38:5-39

“Where were you when I laid the Earth’s foundation?
Tell me, if you understand.

Who marked off its dimensions?
Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?

On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone,
while the     morning stars sang together and all the Angels shouted for Joy?
“Who shut up the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the Womb
when I made the clouds its garment and wrapped it in thick darkness,
when I fixed limits for it and set its doors and bars in place,
when I said,This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt’?

“Have you ever given orders to the Morning, shown the Dawn its place,
that it might take the Earth by the edges and shake the wicked out of it?  The Earth takes shape like clay under a seal; its features stand out like those of a garment.
The wicked are denied their light, and their upraised arm is broken.
“Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep?
Have the gates of death been shown to you?
Have you seen the gates of the deepest darkness?

Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the Earth?
Tell me, if you know all this
“What is the way to the abode of Light?
And where does darkness reside?

Can you take them to their places?
Do you know the paths to their dwellings?

Surely you know, for you were already born! You have lived so many years!

“Have you entered the storehouses of the snow
or seen the storehouses of the hail
which I reserve for times of trouble, for days of war and battle?
What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed,
or the place where the east winds are scattered over the Earth?

Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain, and a path for the thunderstorm,
to water a land where no one lives, an uninhabited desert,  to satisfy a desolate wasteland and make it sprout with grass?
Does the rain have a Father? Who Fathers the drops of dew?

From whose Womb comes the ice?
Who gives birth to the frost from the Heaven
when the waters become hard as stone, when the surface of the deep is frozen?
“Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades? Can you loosen Orion’s belt?

Can you bring forth the Constellations in their seasons or lead out the Bear with its cubs?

Do you know the Laws of the Heavens?
Can you set up God’s Dominion over the Earth?

“Can you raise your voice to the clouds and cover yourself with a flood of water?

Do you send the lightning bolts on their way? Do they report to you, ‘Here we are’?
Who gives the Ibis wisdom or gives the rooster understanding?
Who has the Wisdom to count the clouds?
Who can tip over the water jars of the Heavens

when the dust becomes hard and the clods of Earth stick together?
“Do you hunt the prey for the Lioness
and satisfy the hunger of the Lions?
Job 38:5-39

The only in Lonely is the one you never met.

Baking soda could reduce your chances of an early death

Research published this month in the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology found that having balanced baking soda, or bicarbonate, levels in your body could reduce your chances of an early death.

The study examined data compiled in the Health, Aging and Body Composition Study for 2,287 participants. Participants were healthy adults who, at the onset of the study in 1997, were between the ages of 70 and 79, and were followed for approximately 10 years. Survival data were gathered through February 2014.

What did they find?

Study author Dr. Kalani Raphael, associate professor and nephrology and hypertension specialist at the University of Utah, and colleagues investigated pH, carbon dioxide and bicarbonate in association with long-term survival. According to the University of Utah press release, “Critically ill patients with severe acid-base abnormalities have a very low likelihood of surviving their illness, but it’s unclear whether more subtle changes in the body’s acid-base status have an effect on the longevity of relatively healthy older people.”

Raphael and colleagues found that low levels of bicarbonate may be linked to an increased risk for premature death by 24 percent. Sodium bicarbonate assists your body in balancing pH levels, possibly extending life. “What we found was that generally healthy older people with low levels of bicarbonate had a higher risk of death,” Raphael said. “Adding the pH measurement into the equation didn’t change the results, which is important because pH is not routinely measured.”

The study’s findings may assist clinicians in better assessing a patient’s risk of premature death by analyzing their blood bicarbonate concentrations more closely. Clinicians can recommend dietary adjustments to patients with low bicarbonate concentrations to optimize health.

What does it mean for me?

reduceprematuredeathbakingsoda_640x359 (1)How do you get more baking soda in your life? Surprisingly, the answer has nothing to do with that yellow box in your fridge fighting odors. If you want to balance your pH levels by getting more sodium bicarbonate in your diet, eating more fruits and vegetables is the key.

Fruits and vegetables high in potassium and bicarbonate will have a negative potential renal acid load (PRAL) score. This represents the amount of acid produced by the kidneys after metabolism. The higher the negative, the more potassium and bicarbonate they will provide, potentially reducing your risk of premature death, according to the study. Apples, raisins, spinach, bananas, carrots, broccoli, lemons and even coffee are a few sources that will boost your potassium and bicarbonate levels.

Are you eating enough fruits and vegetables to keep a healthy pH balance

Truths About Living In an Illusion

                                           by Vernon Layne

Here are common truths
that you’re living in an
ILLUSION:

1. You see the present through your past. Your past plays an important role in your life.  It’s there to teach you what you could have done differently or what you need to continue doing. THAT’S ALL.  It’s not there for wallowing in or condemnation. We fall short of His Glory so it’s important you learn to give yourself a break.
Let go of your past and not become its prisoner then it will be easier for you to put things in its proper perspective.

2. You believe you can control things that are uncontrollable.  Stop trying to control people and situations. One of life’s most important lessons is learning to give up the illusion of control. You may wonder how you suppose to give that up, but the fact is you were never in control. The moment you think you’re in control is the moment you’re out of control.

3. You only see the bad in yourself and others. If you ask someone to list things about themselves most will list liabilities. People have a hard time seeing the good within themselves.  Not finding the good in you makes it impossible to see the good in others.

man living an illusion

4. You believe everything you feel and think. Imagine being judged inaccurately by two people who don’t know you. Believing everything you feel and think is just like listening to two people gossip. Your feelings aren’t facts. Don’t believe everything you think and feel because they can influence you to make unwise decisions. Learn to make decisions from facts and not feeling.

5. You search for fulfillment through things. The only person you can’t run away from is yourself. There’s nothing wrong with trying to get things in life but don’t lose yourself in the process by not understanding why you’re doing it. When the chase for things becomes more important than your family and your health, then it’s a destructive rush that’s causing harm. Most of the time you’re trying to fill a void or block a feeling when you’re searching for fulfillment in things.

6. Your self-worth comes from social media. All your life you wanted to belong and fit in, so you spend a lot of time on social media– yet never quite measuring up. The more likes you get the better you feel. The reality you need to hear and afraid to admit is when you’re not getting those likes you think you should be getting, you feel down almost depressed. Depending on social media to feel relevant is an illusion many people believe.

7. You think your happiness is your mate’s responsibility. It’s not fair to your mate when you expect them to be responsible for your happiness. They’re there to add to your happiness. It’s your responsibility to see that you’re happy. It’s not healthy and it doesn’t work when one partner isn’t responsible for his own feeling, thoughts and actions.  A healthy relationship is when a couple can grow in unity while at the same time growing as individuals, so take ownership of your own happiness.

8. You’re convinced everything supposed to go your way. Self-centeredness is at the core of self-deception. It can create an illusion that you’re right and the world is wrong base on a feeling or an idea. You began to see yourself as a victim. Understand that everyone experiences life challenges and that you’re not the only one. To see things clearly bring your attitude in line with reality.

9.  You think you don’t need help. Most people, myself included, believed at some point in their life that they could do it all by themselves. This kind of thinking doesn’t work very well. The only guarantee you will get is being frustrated and exhausted.

We are here to help and support one another. Your life will be enhanced when you’re able to see people as a gift from God. Take the time and get to know the gifts God have given you by learning to trust others, reaching out to others, and admitting your need for others.

10. You believe you can’t change. It’s important to examine this false belief because it may not be yours. You could have picked it up from your parents. I know this may sound a little harsh but some parents tell their children self-defeating things. Not all illusions come from you. Some are created by others.

11. You think your success is because of the work you’ve done. Don’t become a legend in your own mind. As you begin to experience success in life it’s important to give credit where credit is due. Selfishly claiming what belongs to God is the quickness way to lose it all. Pride usually comes before the fall so give the Glory to God.

12. You feel you’re alone. I call this the ultimate illusion. The next time you’re by yourself look around you. Feel the air. Go outside and watch the squirrels chase each other. Look up and see the clouds move gracefully. God’s presence is all around you. You are never alone.

“Foolish dreamers
live in a world of illusion;
wise realist plant their feet
on the ground

Proverbs 14:18

Every Flower That Is Unfolding / Life Hacks to Help You Lose Weight / Friday: Half Price Books and a Movie (Wonder)

The innate intelligence
of Nature
is far more powerful
and Beautiful

than we can ever
imagine.

Flowers
lift the Spirits
of the Earth.
They sustain Life
with all their
Splendor.

                        They sustain Life.

We can see
every Flower
that is unfolding
as it says
to every Living Thing,
“I Love You”.

And,
as the wind gently whistles
a pale blue sigh
though the lonely leaves
of all the trees,

it plays the music
of Life.

If we listen carefully
we can hear
the wishes of all

Creation
coming True.

To every Living Thing: “I Love You”.

Beauty
is far more than
what it seems.
The constant
motion of Love,
Beauty begins.
And it never really
changes
its meaning.

Life never really wants
more
than Love asks.
And what does Love
ask?
That you care,
that you share,
that
when you are needed,
you are there.

“Yes,
How many times
must a man look up

before he can see the sky?”
Bob Dylan

As the fingers
of our questions
reach
deep into the pockets
of our minds,
we may find
what we are truly
searching for:
our Love
for
every living thing,
and the Love
of God
in
every living thing,
and in us.

Nothing more
could we ask.

“But ask now the Beasts,
and they shall teach Thee;
and the Fowls of the air,
and they shall tell thee:
Or speak to the Earth,
and it shall teach thee:
and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto Thee.
Who knoweth not in all these
that the Hand of the LORD hath wrought this?
In whose Hand is the Soul
of every living thing,
and the breath of all Mankind.
– Job 12:10

                                 What does Love ask?

Watch the Sun
rise in the
eyes
of one you tell
of all the Love
in your Heart.

Yes,
there is Magic
in the moments
we marry,
that are divorced
of time.

We become
so blind
to the deeper
realities of Life.
The Beautiful Creation
you are
is more surprising
and Mysterious
than the feeble mind
of Mankind can
imagine.

Our transitory existence
goes far beyond
the surface dimensions
of Life.

God’s Truth is always joined with Love.

My Dear Friends,
Forgiveness,
Compassion
and Hope
can unleash Mysterious
and powerful forces
within.

Yes,
imperfection
is part of
the very fabric
of Human Life.

But,
Divine Perfection
may be found
in the abundance
of God’s Beauty
and Love.
And it is offered
to us in
each
precious moment
we are on
this Earth.

Knowledge
of God’s Truth
is always
joined
with Love.

Divine Perfection is found in the abundance of God’s Beauty.

The energy in Nature
is never lost,
never destroyed,
only transformed.
And
God’s Love
integrates Eternity.
Nothing
is ever lost,
no tear
is ever forgotten,
and no death
is ever
meaningless.

God
is neither beyond us
or outside of us.
He is
within us.
Each one of us
is a Child
of God.

“Do you not know that
YOU

are a Temple of God
and that the Spirit of God
dwells in you?”
1 Corinthians 3:16

Regardless
of fate’s fearless frown,
God’s Light
pours down.

Ultimate reality
is always Mysterious
and unfathomable.
God’s presence
everywhere
and in all things
is beyond
Human comprehension.
God’s Spiritual Presence
is deep within
the World of matter,
which He
created.

Discover
the Beauty,
the meaning
and the Joy
of your existence.

In the cold and lonely moments
of uncertainty,
the Words of our Lord
will warm your Heart
and free your Loving mind.

When shadows pale
the horizon of your Being,
the place to be
is behind your Loving smile,
and deep in your Faith,
trusting in
the patient Love
of your Creator.

Goodnight.

Beauty is far more than what it seems.

” I come to the Garden alone
While the dew is still on the Roses.
And the Voice I hear falling on my ear,
The Son of God discloses.

And He walks with me,
and He talks with me
,
And He tells me
I am His own.

And the Joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

He speaks,
and the Sound of His Voice

Is so sweet that the birds hush their singing.
And the Melody that He gave to me,
Within my Heart is ringing.

And He walks with me,
and He talks with me
,
And He tells me
I am His own.

And the Joy we share as we tarry there,
None other
has ever known.”
Brad Paisley

“If you want to learn to Love better,
you should start with a friend
who you hate.”

Life Hacks to Help You Lose Weight

By Jeffrey Kopman        read more

Several simple life hacks can make a huge difference. Changing your diet and getting regular exercise will always be the best way to get healthy, but these tricks can help too, and won’t take much time or effort.

Most people make many little mistakes throughout the day that can add up to form really unhealthy habits. What are some simple ways to correct these problems?

* Lack of exposure to a varied temperature, whole populations may be prone to develop diseases like obesity,” researchers at Maastricht University Medical Center in The Netherlands wrote in a study published in Trends in Endocrinology & Metabolism earlier this year.

The researchers suggested that regular exposure to mild cold could be a simple way to help people lose weight.

*  You should be drinking lots of water. But the best way to do this and lose weight is to replace other drinks with water.

This cheap and effective trick will eliminate sugary and high calorie drinks and replace them with a healthier alternative, according to a study presented at the 240th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society.

“People should drink more water and less sugary, high calorie drinks. It’s a simple way to facilitate weight management,” Brenda Davy, Ph.D., senior author on the study said in a press release. “We found that over the course of 12 weeks, dieters who drank water before meals, three times per day, lost about 5 pounds more than dieters who did not increase their water intake.”

*  People who were given pedometers were more likely to participate in physical activity than those who did not, according to research from The International Association of Applied Psychology.

These devices make it easier to track how much exercise you’re getting and how many more steps you should be taking. Reaching your goals can be made with small adjustments throughout your day, something a pedometer will highlight — instantly.

 *  Using a standing desk for three hours a day will help you burn an extra 144 calories per day, according to a study from the University of Chester in the United Kingdom.

“This is the perfect way for any office-bound worker to achieve the typical New Year’s resolution of wanting to lose weight without changing anything else — how easy is that?” said Dr. John Buckley, Reader of Applied Exercise Science in Health and lead Lecturer for the University’s MSc in Cardiovascular Rehabilitation, in a press release.

* One major cause of the obesity epidemic in America is an inability to control portion sizes. But this easy life hack can help you lose weight without even realizing it.

To make sure your portions are in control, use smaller plates, bowls or glasses. Research shows that people perceive the amount of food they’re eating differently based on the plate size they use.

One cup of food on a small plate looks like more than the same amount of food on a large plate, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

* In addition to changing the size of the plate you eat off of, consider switching the color of the plate as well.

Yes, even the color can affect how much food you’re eating, and either encourage or discourage overeating.

A Cornell University study found that eating food off a plate of contrasting color would help people reduce the amount they are eating. The study called this mind-over-matter practice “critical” for some people’s portion control.

* Here’s one to try right away: Slow down!

No, don’t slow down your exercise — slow down your eating. When you stuff your face full of food in mere moments, you’re not giving your body a chance to feel full until all the food is gone.

Similar to eating off of smaller plates, slowing down your pace will help you feel full without overeating. Eating too quickly leaves you full of more food than necessary.

Recently, researchers found that eating slowly led to increased fullness ratings in both normal-weight and overweight/obese participants, according to a study from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

 * It’s easy to get in the habit of paying for everything with a debit or credit card, just like it’s easy to get in the habit of eating and ordering too much food.

Paying with cash will serve as a psychological trick to keep your wallet full and your stomach just full enough.

People who pay with cards spent far more at Fast Food Restaurants ($4.50 compared to $7.00) than those who paid with cash, according to data from NerdWallet.

Similarly, people who paid with cash at grocery stores made smarter food choices, partially because they didn’t impulse buy junk food, according to a study published in the Journal of Consumer Research.
