The Underlying Oneness of the Power of Love / RIPLEY’S

The Underlying Oneness
of the Power of Love

Paul Newman Classic Images of Paul Newman

Paul Newman

Is it possible that love never dies?
Is it even possible that our awareness
(consciousness) of love
may be the only thing that is real?

The essence of,
the real reason for our being,
may lie outside the
complex cognition plane.

There is a beautiful and dynamic nature
to our passionate and loving reality.

The legacy of our lives
can live on, deeply embedded
in the hearts of those we touch.

The enduring Love we leave behind
may transcend space and time
and blossom into the infinite.

Poets have long extolled
the Divine Virtues of Love.
In beautifully crafted works
they have revealed
aspects of immortality and infinity,
in exploring the nature of Love.

And some say this:

Our Love may exist beyond
our physical being.

It may live on after us,
in the hearts of others,
in the underlying oneness
of the power of Love,

in the Heart of God.
                              – Wm. C. Anderson

The following beautiful story tells of a life lived in gratitude to others and of a man’s love that truly transcends space and time. I hope you enjoy reading about the legacy of love from Newman’s Own. Click here for more:

Actor Paul Newman applied his greatest commitment and derived his deepest satisfaction from his quiet work in philanthropy. He used his influence, gave of his financial resources, and personally volunteered to advance humanitarian and social causes around the world.

In 1982, he founded Newman’s Own, Inc., which was one of the first food companies to use all natural products. Today, Newman’s Own is successful, and all after-tax profits and royalties are donated to thousands of charities worldwide through Newman’s Own Foundation. Thus far, over $400 million has been awarded to grantee recipients in all 50 states and in 31 countries around the world.

Newman’s Own Foundation is an independent, private foundation formed in 2005 by Paul Newman to sustain the legacy of his philanthropic work.

Ian and Joshua enjoyed a pre-historic battle.

Ian and Joshua enjoyed a pre-historic battle.

The Foundation believes that each of us has the potential to make a difference. Since 1982, when Paul Newman first declared, “Let’s give it all away,” many millions have been donated to thousands of nonprofit organizations helping people in need around the world.

Paul Newman’s private company makes a line of foods including lemonade, popcorn, salad dressings and spaghetti sauce, coffee (my favorite) and, as the labels say, all profits go to charity.

Mr. Newman’s celebrity tends to obscure how revolutionary his company

has been in forging a new kind of conscientious consumerism over the past decade. In that time, buyers have demonstrated a fierce brand loyalty. And I am proud to say, I am one of them.

Philanthropy is…

Love for Humankind and
the Practice of Charity

Ms. Nell Newman, the third of Mr. Newman’s five daughters said her father’s philanthropy is just as he tells it. ”He thought the world had treated him incredibly well,”

His company co-sponsored the PEN/Newman’s Own First Amendment Award, which was presented annually to a United States resident who had fought courageously, despite adversity, to safeguard the First Amendment right to freedom of expression as it applied to the written word.

A sampling of grantees is available at the Newman’s Own Foundation website along with a description of funding areas. One beneficiary of this charity is the SeriousFun Children’s Network, residential summer camps for seriously ill children. Today, there are camps, programs, and initiatives operating in 50 countries across 5 continents. Over 384,700 children have attended a SeriousFun program free of charge.

Additionally, the Neman’s Own Foundation also provided a grant to The MINDS Foundation to fund US operations of the non-profit that works in rural India. Other beneficiaries, among many, have included The New York Times Neediest Cases Fund (from 1983 onwards), Shining Hope for Communities, Safe Water Network, Edible Schoolyard NYC, Fisher House Foundation, the WILD Young Women Programme (New Zealand), and Pilgrims Hospices (UK).

There are six camps Paul Newman founded for children who have life-threatening diseases. The charity was spurred by letters from seriously ill children who wanted to visit places like Disneyland.

Paul Newman lived his life, and dedicated the earnings from his hard work, to help those in need. He, and his family, are to be truly admired. Mr. Newman ranks among those we can call true American Patriots. Perhaps we can live our lives in a similar manner. At the very least, we can purchase Newman’s Own brand products. Please join me. There are many on their knees in need. And we can help.

Just think what this world would be like if millions of us would follow his example. Think of where the self-serving corporations would be. You know, the companies who seemingly care less and less, as time goes by, about what is in the food or drinks we continue, with ignorance, to consume.

These corporations have so polluted our food chain with items purposefully engineered to be addictive, that now for first time ever, and UNBELIEVABLY, the next generation (your children) can expect not to live as long as the previous generation. How awful can it get? Yes, that BAD.

We have fun with our new purchases.

I beg you to please join me and proudly become one of Newman’ Own.

We will depart at 9:00 a.m. to arrive at 10:00 a.m. We will first enjoy a brief visit to the video arcade, gift shop, fantastic photos, and wax hands (ask for the special price for our group), then have an early lunch at 11:00 a.m. to avoid other large groups. Following lunch we will enjoy self-guided tours of the Palace of Wax & Ripley’s Believe It or Not, which should last approximately two hours.

This is a history, science, literature and art museum where learning becomes a unique experience. The fear section can be avoided by the young, faint of heart or just plain scared (like Dr. Anderson–who has been known to scream and cry and embarrass us). The not-so-brave may exit to the gift shop (now that’s a really scary place) and show the crybaby Dr. A how to escape a frightful future and avoid touring the rest of the exhibit.

We had serious shopping to do.

FINANCIAL Fee: $10.00 (includes TAX & and money for gas). This is a group combination ticket – the regular price is $15.95. If you arrive late you will be required to pay FULL price. Does not include Mirror Maze. Please pay Dr. A. LUNCH: Please bring funds for lunch.
GIFT SHOP Yes! Please do not purchase anything to scare the cowardly Dr. A! He is already afraid of all children, a few parents (you scary ones know who you are!), his wife, R.J., haunted houses (Ian knows) and one rooster.

And this, of all things, is what Dr. A wanted. Yes, a large, very hard, egg!

And this, of all things, is what Dr. A wanted. Yes, a large, very hard, egg!

Drop-off will be at the School at 8:30 a.m. If you choose to meet us at Ripleys, that is OK! Pick-up will be at the Anderson School at 3:15 p.m. Please be patient – traffic conditions, goofing off or a reluctance to ask for directions (a male thing) may delay us. Clouds up close
Revealing the love hidden deep within the heart
can become seemingly impossible. But it is not.

bird on ringI have helped small birds back into their nests. Later, as I heard  their joyful sounds, I realized such brief, precious moments can reveal the love of life deeply held in such tiny and trembling hearts. These hearts are weighed down, not so much by misfortune or circumstance, but by apathy, by noticing nothing but the self, by constantly looking ahead and not seeing into this moment, by losing control of consciousness and neglecting the precious life that is all around, by living only inside of your own body and mind and not in the lives of those all around you.

Our trip on Friday was to the Modern Art Museum.

Our trip on Friday was to the Modern Art Museum.

In just one moment, you can suddenly realize that your happiness and your joy truly reside only in the hearts of others. The most miserable people on earth have only ever met themselves. They have only met their own personal desires and needs.

These truly sad people never realized that the physical and spiritual nature of our own reality tells us that we are one. We are woven from Fabric that is not just the same, but made by the same Maker in the same Pattern. They never noticed that when we breathe in, the plants breathe out, that when we smile, someone smiles back, that when we give to someone on their knees in need, our deepest inner needs are met. They never knew that when we extend our love to others, we are truly loved. They never discovered the simplistic and vital truth that we are truly one, just one, and only one.

The Modern was filled with amazingly beautiful creatures.

The Modern was filled with amazingly beautiful creatures.

My friends, there are nests everywhere. The fallen are at your feet. Their cries for help may never be heard, but they are there. These people, and all of God’s beautiful creations in need, may not be seen. But if you search for them, they will reveal themselves. SEEK and you will FIND (Matthew 7:7). Knock, and the door of opportunity to help so many others, will be opened to you.

And as you open this door, you will discover that your inner joy, the peace

We found joy in amazing places.

that your heart so fervently desires, the reason for your being, resides on the other side of you. It lives in the song of a bird, in the laughter of someone else, in the lives of so many in need.

Reflections 2

The reflection of your life is more real than you are.

The reflection of your life is more real that you are.

It will live on long past your time on earth. You can become philosophical and peel the image of yourself off the mirror of life, and then give it to others. The world around you is a mirror. Look into it. Find yourself. And envision just how beautiful you are, as you more clearly see through the loving and grateful eyes of others.

God made you in His Image. You are the reflection of His deep and abiding Love. And you are so beautiful.

Lunch at the Modern was a beautiful experience.

I invite you to witness a few acts of kindness caught on camera. (click here)

My friends, bound away across the wide expanse of yesterday, you have arrived upon the shores of this day. And the essence of your being is a miraculous discovery. Treasure it. Share it. Your heart, like a beautiful and wild flower, is planted in the fertile soil of God’s Eternal Love. Let it blossom. Let it be.

  A POET’S EYE
–  by Wm. C. Anderson

Long after the distant drums
Of war are played,

After the games of death,

When nothing is left inside,
But the memory of those
We loved more than this life,

It is not music we hear,

Not the cadence of a drum,

But silence,

The absence of a heart beat

Multiplied millions of times.

After much reflection
And such sorrow,
Long, long after our deep despair,

We feel a single Beat

Of God’s Heart,

The Power of Everlasting Love,

In an Act of Forgiveness
For silencing so many others.

Clouds in the Heavens above,
In a poet’s eye,
Cry drops of rain,
Like tears Reflecting the love,
Found in other eyes.

Sacred water pours
Down upon our lives.

And, drop by drop,
We are Blessed

By the Love of One

Who washes away our sin,
Nourishes Precious Life.

The rain, like tears,
Bathes the barren plain,
And carries away
Thirst, sorrow and pain,
To give us hope again.

Tears that fall,
And drops of rain,
Are in a loving way,
The same.

URBAN THEATER: NEW YORK ART IN THE 1980s. Vibrant, vital, and discordant, the New York art scene of the 1980s gave rise to some of the contemporary art world’s most recognizable features.

As the artists who emerged in that decade now set records at auction, the era is ripe to be reexamined. Representing in turns a cool irony, reflections on media culture, consumerism, cartoons, and street art. The work collected here re-creates the tense energy of a grittier New York through painting, performance, sculpture, & photography.

Chief Curator Michael Auping says, “New York was the loudest and the most intense. If you wonder why the art world is like it is today, refer to the ’80s. That’s where it began.”

The exhibition presents iconic works that capture the mood, energy, and critical themes that distinguished the art of the 1980s in one of the world’s greatest urban centers.

New York was the center of a new synthesis of ideas about the relationship between art and popular culture and inspired a new audaciousness. The decade’s most critically acclaimed artists will be presented including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Troy Brauntuch, Francesco Clemente, Jeff Koons, Barbara Kruger, Robert Longo, Robert Mapplethorpe, Philip Taaffe, and Andy Warhol.

If Loving You Was Easy
                             – by Wm. C. Anderson

You will never love someone,
As much as God loves you.
It is the only thing that is real.
And this Everlasting Love is just for you.

If loving you was easy,
God would not love you at all.
When someone truly loves you,
They catch you when you fall.

In this life He Loves us all.
So as you seek
shelter from the storm,

From your fear He will set you free,
His heart will keep you warm.

Close your eyes
So that you may see.
Open your heart,
That you may fully be.

Do not wait
To see the Light
Until the day you die.
The day is near to night.

The Dangers of Energy Drinks

From staff writer Angela E. Rodriguez of the Coyote Chronicle of California State University and others, we find a study released last week by researchers that indicates your kids could be at risk.

The study, headed by Dr. Steven Lipshultz, dean of child safety at University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine, concluded there is no “therapeutic value” in energy drinks. While the popular drinks advertise benefits ranging from re-energizing athletes to increasing stamina, Lipshultz said it’s quite possible the drinks actually have the opposite effect.

According to researchers, teeth begin to suffer irreversible damage from

energy drinks after just 5 consecutive days of consumption. With an estimated 30% to 50% of United States youth calling energy drinks their beverage of choice, educating this patient population about the beverages’ long-term consequences is important.

“Patients are shocked to learn that these drinks are essentially bathing their teeth in acid,” says Poonam Jain, BDS, MS, lead author of the study.

Energy drink companies are not required to put the amount of citric acid on the products’ labels, therefore consumers will never know the damage that they are causing their teeth. – See more

Even worse, Lipshultz said the sugar, caffeine and other ingredients in the drinks aren’t regulated by the Food and Drug Administration—which classifies them as dietary supplements—and may be dangerous in combination with alcohol and for kids with ADHD, heart conditions and diabetes.

Dental Medicine at Southern Illinois University, Poonan Jain, argues that energy drink consumption not only depletes tooth enamel but also leads to loss of bone mass and kidney stones. – See more

Consumers who are drinking these products are susceptible to damaging their tooth enamel and can develop other long term effects such as acid reflux and high sugar levels, which can lead to diabetes.
Travis is learning too.

Several countries have ordered complete or partial bans of energy drinks or required warning labels on cans after several deaths that appeared to be related to energy drinks in the past few years. Denmark , Turkey and Uruguay have banned all energy drinks, Germany has banned 11 of 16 brands and Australia has banned 5 energy drink makers.

“Other countries are studying energy drinks and many are banning or heavily regulating the products,” Lipshultz said. “At some point, you have to wonder why that is happening.”

A Better Choice

What are some alternatives to energy drinks? Recently, many companies have created drinks similar to energy drinks, they provide the energy and are actually healthy to consume.

One drink that has become extremely popular is called Purple. This drink has seven antioxidants including, Acai, Black Cherry, Pomegranate, Black Currant, Purple Plum, Cranberry, and Blueberry. All of these antioxidants working together create something called the Cascade Effect. Purple also has no added chemicals or sugar. Purple is much healthier compared to the mainstream energy drinks.

Keeping harmful chemicals in your home puts both children and pets at risk (as well as adults), especially if they accidentally get into them when you’re not looking. That’s why it’s best to use all-natural products that pose absolutely NO risk, except to your target.

Below are ways to effectively deter ants naturally, provided by Mother Nature Network.

Lemon Juice – Spraying pure lemon juice in or around openings near your home can prevent the pests from entering.

Kylee found several new friends.

Kylee found several new friends.

Cinnamon – Ground, oil or combined with ground cloves, both fill your home with warm, seasonal scents and deter ants if sprinkled in their paths.

Peppermint – either by itself, or combined with equal parts water can be mixed and sprayed directly at the ants or along their pathways.

Coffee grounds – place used coffee grounds in the cracks near their entryway. The coffee deters the ants, forcing them to set up shop somewhere else.

Mary Alice celebrated a birthday. Congratulations.

Mary Alice celebrated a birthday. Congratulations.

Chalk – Drawing a line around windows or doorway entries has kept ants at bay for some. You can usually find chalk at home improvement stores, some of which come in a squeeze bottle, making application easy.

Baking soda and powdered sugar – Mixing baking soda and powdered sugar in jar lids and placing them in strategic corners can greatly reduce ant populations.

Hot water and dish soap – Filling a spray bottle with soap and hot water can work very effectively against ants. Also, food items that attract ants, such as honey jars, can be placed on a small water-filled saucer to prevent the insects from reaching it.

Rylee, Kylee and Kayla loved the birds.

Rylee, Kylee and Kayla loved feeding the birds.

Vinegar plus equal parts water isn’t just great for cleaning your kitchen counter tops and floors but has been known to sufficiently kill unwanted insects. Pouring the solution where the ants have their nest is key. You can also mix vinegar with peppermint for an extra kick that gets rid of them faster.

Cream of wheat – Posts on Helpful Gardener say cream of wheat takes care of ant infestations. After eating the cream of wheat, rolled oats, dry cornmeal or grits, it swells up in their guts and their stomachs explode.

We love the Fort Worth Zoo.

There are so many effective ways to control ants, or other insects, without using toxic chemicals. Next week, I may focus on helping to control the Uncles! And later, the pesky cousins.

Also from Natural News: For decades, top officials at the Environmental Protection Agency (PEA) were aware that a compound approved for agricultural use in the United States was wiping out the honeybee population, but they chose to ignore the compound’s effects in deference to pressure from agri-giant corporations.

Worse, the agency reacted harshly to anyone within the EPA who attempted to bring the issue to light, including through firings, forced reassignments and other actions.According to a scholarly 2014 study [PDF] compiled by researcher Rosemary Mason, “on behalf of a global network of independent scientists, beekeepers and environmentalists,” and published on the website of MIT, “We have found evidence to show that the herbicide glyphosate (or alternatives) the primary substance found in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide – became a global best-selling herbicide because the public was told by industry and the regulators that it was ‘safe.’ “

The results have been disastrous. The heavy use of glyphosate has led to the rise of so-called “superweeds” that are resistant to the herbicide. And there is another compound that was approved by the EPAover the objections of scientists — that has had a devastating effect on the nation’s honeybee population: clothianidin, which is used for seed treatment on corn and canola, by Bayer.

        ‘Honeybees are going extinct’

According to this EPA document describing clothianidin [PDF], it “is highly toxic to honey bees on an acute contact basis,” and “has the potential for toxic chronic exposure to honey bees, as well as other non-target pollinators, through residues in nectar and pollen. “In honey bees, the effects of this toxic chronic exposure may include lethal effects in the larvae and reproductive effects in the queen,”. Her research team found additional evidence of corporate/EPA cover-up regarding the effects of clothianidin.
This 99-page EPA memorandum dated November 2, 2010, [PDF] noted, in part:The major risk concerns are with aquatic free-swimming and benthic invertebrates, terrestrial invertebrates, birds and mammals.Clothianidin is an insecticide that is both persistent and systemic. Acute toxicity studies to honey bees show that clothianidin is highly toxic on both a contact and an oral basis.

Tests and field studies, as well as incident reports suggest the potential for long term toxic risk to honey bees and other beneficial insects.

A number of EPA scientists – those with integrity, anyway – have tried along the way to sound the alarm – over both glyphosate and clothianidin.

In a piece for The Huffington Post, former EPA scientist Evaggelos Vallianatos wrote that honeybees were on the verge of extinction. Here is a beneficial insect pollinating a third of America’s crops, especially fruits and vegetables, and we thank the fragile and highly beneficial honeybees with stupefying killing.

Poisoning of honeybees became routine in the mid-1970s with the EPA’s approval of neurotoxins encapsulated in dust-size particles that took days to release their deadly gas. He further noted that some of his colleagues have tried to denounce the EPA actions, but the agency reacted “with fury” after one EPA ecologists discovered neurotoxic plastic spheres in the gut of a queen honeybee, which “meant poison in the honey. “It forced the scientist out of his laboratory and into paper pushing in Washington. Approval of the industry’s neurotoxins expanded to cover most major crops. This meant honeybees had less and less space to search for food without dying,” Villianatos wrote. Note: LeVonna and I maintain a honeybee hive behind our home. Honeybees have thrived on our property for decades. We have lived in harmony and have treasured their presence. The wildflowers we keep during the Spring and Summer, in front of the school, are beautiful to see.

But more importantly, they are grown without the use of pesticides and benefit our precious, life sustaining honey bees and many other beautiful creations, such as spectacular moths, mosquito eating and unbelievably beautiful Dragonflies, our precious friends the Praying Mantises, our bountiful and beautiful life saving birds and many others.meercat
