Yes, to Life and Yes to Living / Ray Kurzweil Hacks His Body / Sept. 3 (Tuesday) is the First Day of Fall Semester

                                   They say YES.

To understand the Song
of a tiny feathered Heart,
and reflect upon
the music of his
magical moment,
is to understand
Life.
As beautiful Birds sing
and flutter around
you,
they say
YES.

Yes,
to Life.
And Yes
to Living.

If
we pause long enough,
and truly listen
to the sensations of their
Hearts,
we no longer decipher
this World
by thought,
but by feeling
and finally knowing,
knowing we belong
in the Beautiful Web
of Life.

                                           We belong.

All
Living Things
are elegantly interdependent
and connected to
everything.

There is
so much Beauty
in this World,
your Heart
cannot comprehend
the profound awe and wonder
of it.

There are deeper forces
at play.
.
Go outside.
Go into God’s World.
Close your eyes.
.

Listen.
Just listen,
and your Heart will see
a larger perception of
Reality
abides all around
the Dream
that is you
and me.

There is Magic
in the moment
you discover
your Spiritual Nature
is in the Wisdom
of Being.

It is simple.
Remove yourself
from the artificial constraints
and the linear constructions
created by the feeble mind
of our kind.

A far greater Love
than we can even imagine,
has Lovingly crafted and created
the truly meaningful moment
that is
YOU.

And the journey
of discovery
My Friend,
is effortless,
like Magic.

Simply go
into the Natural World
created by God.
Sit quietly
under the shade
of His beautiful Tree.
It is simply a matter
of listening,
hearing, feeling
and sensing
what is all around
YOU.

The dark shadows
of our thoughts
can be confusing,
chaotic,
irrelevant.

Stop searching
your mind
for somewhere to go,
something to discover,
something to figure out.
The clarity
we seek,
we need not
look for.
It will find
YOU.

                    It will find YOU.

My Dear Friends,
the awareness
of our kinship
with all of Nature
is long overdue.
It is a relationship
that reaches beyond
Mankind
and extends everywhere.

It is not bounded
by the dimensions
of our species.
It connects
with kindred currents
and ancestral rivers,
visible
and invisible.
.
Shift
from experiencing Life,
to truly Living
in the flow.
Allow the Love
of God
to flow through you,
and all around
you.

When
our precious Hearts
feel the Loving flow
of this beautiful Universe,
we are open
and aware
centered
in the here and now,
and forever more.

We no longer
expect
anything.
What we feel
is more real,
than real.

With no expectations,
our fragile Human Hearts
gently flow
to a deeper state of
Being.

             Your Heart cannot comprehend.

“The harmony
of Natural Law,
reveals an intelligence
of such superiority
that,
compared with it,
all the systematic thinking
and acting of Human Beings
is an utterly insignificant
reflection.”
Albert Einstein

The Universe God created
always
responds to our deep need
to leave our thoughts
and allow the Love
in our Hearts
to flow out
to all
Creation.

So often
we get into
our own way.
We never open
the door
to the most magnificent Gift
that is before
us.

We fail
to explore
the Wisdom
hiding all around
us.
Everything that Lives
has something of value
to share with
you.

As a young Child,
we learned to label
the World.
In trusting others
and not ourselves,
we learned
to color our feelings
about everything
around us.

Everything we see is a mirror.

We came to forget
what we instinctively
always knew,
that every Creature in this World
was a beautiful Living Being,
with its own
feelings,
and Hope
for the future.

We failed
to find Wonder,
Knowledge and Insight
and pure Delight,
in the Magic of the moment
we were with them.

All
Living Things
are Beautiful Instruments
through which
the Mind of the Universe
feels,
and thinks
and speaks
and acts.

We
are ALL
instruments
in a vast Cosmic Orchestra,
essential
to the harmonious and complementary
playing of the
Whole.

So very often,
the Creatures God Created
that we fear the most,
or hate,
are the ones that offer
the greatest lessons
for our own personal
growth.

And
this includes
other people.

But,
in remembering our connection
to ALL things Living,
we begin to realize
that everything we see
is a mirror
to our own deeper
Being.

Our Mother,
this Earth,
has dressed Herself up
for a command performance
with the Stars,
arrayed upon the black
of night,
and entwined in Her Hair.
She will forgive you
for not taking
the Time
to know
Love is there,
and everywhere.

“While
with an Eye
made quiet
by the Power of Harmony,
and the deeper Power
of JOY,
we see into
the Life of Things.”
William Wordsworth

We
are One.

Goodnight.

                     Entwined in Her Hair.

Google Futurist Ray Kurzweil Hacks His Body With These

Ray Kurzweil has many followers. Some call him a prophet.

Over a decade ago, Ray Kurzweil predicted that, within decades, we will have medical nanorobots, now called nanodocs, swimming through our veins keeping us healthy. In a 2007 essay in the Guardian, Kurzweil made the following prediction:

“Within a couple of decades, we will have ‘nanobots’ in our blood stream, basically small robots the size of blood cells, that will keep us healthy at the cellular and molecular level.” Kurzweil later added, “These devices will be a billion times more powerful than they are today in 25 years, and will continue the accelerating path to radical life extension.”

Ray Kurzweil made that prediction back in 2007, and his prophecy is becoming a reality, at least in the treatment of solid-tumor cancer. According to a recent report on bacteriobots, a physician in Montreal may be the first to treat cancer patients with tumor-killing nanorobots.
Futurist, Heal Thyself.

Kurzweil was diagnosed with high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes when only 35. The diagnosis of type 2 diabetes was a wake-up call for Ray, so he read up on the latest nutritional research, went on a diet and cut his fat intake. All that hard work paid off for Ray Kurzweil, who says he reversed both his diabetes and high cholesterol,
losing 40 pounds in the process.

Immortality Isn’t Easy for Ray Kurzweil

As reported by the Financial Times (FT.com), the futurist used to eat 250 pills a day. Now, he’s down to 100. In an interview a few years back, Kurzweil told the Financial Times’s Caroline Daniel that he spends “a few thousand dollars per year” on vitamins and supplements. According to press reports, Kurzweil also spends one day a week in a doctor’s office, receiving intravenous longevity treatments in a bid to live forever.

In addition to taking vitamins and supplements, Ray also eats a healthy diet, rich in plant compounds called phytonutrients. According to Caroline Daniel, his breakfast includes berries, dark chocolate infused with espresso, smoked salmon and mackerel, vanilla soy milk, porridge and green tea.

If the supplement plan doesn’t work, Ray Kurzweil has a backup plan. The outspoken futurist has signed up to for cryonics. Kurzweil joins other notables such as SENS Foundation’s Aubrey de Grey on the member list of the cryonics firm Alcor. Ray Kurzweil has arranged for the cryopreservation of his body shortly after death, with the hopes of being revived when medical science has found a cure for whatever felled him.
.

                            Ray Kurzweil’s Supplement List

Most of the items on this list come from Kurzweil’s book, Fantastic Voyage: Live Long Enough to Live Forever, published back in 2005 when Ray was taking 250 supplements a day. How Not To Live Forever

As reported in a previous article, large doses of some vitamins can cause harm. A few of the supplements on Ray Kurzweil’s list could ruin his health or shorten his life, notably the vitamins B-3 and B-6. Recent research on vitamin B-6 shows that taking more than 100 milligrams of the vitamin over an extended period can cause a form of nerve damage called neuropathy. Research shows that taking excessive vitamin B-3 lowers cholesterol, but can also harm the liver.

Department of Redundancy Department

There’s redundancy in Ray Kurzweil’s longevity regimen.

Ray takes EPA/DHA fish oil supplements. Studies show that when compared to omega-3 supplements, whole fish is a healthier source of these oils. Ray Kurzweil should stick to his salmon.

Kurzweil has a healthy diet, rich in fruit and vegetables. He doesn’t need that many supplements. Ray Kurzweil is going overboard.

I’m puzzled by Ray’s testosterone-boosting regimen. Kurzweil takes many supplements that increase testosterone. At the same time, Ray takes the drug itself.

The best thing to boost testosterone is testosterone itself.
.

Bottom Line on Ray Kurzweil’s Regimen

On the plus side, Kurzweil has an otherwise healthy lifestyle. He takes prescription drugs for legitimate reasons, such as aspirin for the heart, metformin for diabetes and statins for high cholesterol. Some of the medicines have dual purposes. Metformin has been shown to prevent cancer, and it’s a general anti-aging drug to boot. Cholesterol-lowering statins are also proposed for anti-aging purposes.

On the other hand, while justification can be found for some of the items on his list, it seems as if the futurist is taking too many overall. A recent report published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) suggests that vitamin supplements aren’t all they are cracked up to be. Instead, the JAMA article recommends that people obtain most of their vitamins and minerals through a healthy diet. The report suggests that those people with specific conditions or at certain life phases might consider vitamin and mineral supplements. Furthermore, two of the B vitamins that Ray takes are shown to be harmful to the health when taken to excess.

Around School 5-5-14 001 - Prof. Lacey

Dedicated to our very own Professor of Epic Literature, Latin and Greek, Mr. Lacey. Among the greatest Blessings in my life, and the lives of so many others, is knowing this gentle Heart, this Loving Soul. What an Honor to know Mr. Harry H. Lacey. Human kindness is overflowing in the life of this truly remarkable man.  Thank you for all you do.                                We Love you too.

“Its obvious that we don’t know
one millionth of one percent
about anything.”

Unbelievable. A bird raised her young inside our cast iron Rabbit welded to the railing. “Uh, what’s up Doc?”

And it becomes apparent that we,
who are almost
nonexistent,
know next to nothing
about anything.

But we keep
wondering
about everything,
not realizing
that the things
we think about,
may not even
exist at all.

There is so very little

Yes, it may indeed

So, let’s either wake up or go back to sleep,

But what ever you choose to do,
give thanks to your Loving Creator.

He made you out of
virtually nothing,
nothing but Love.

And if you think about it,
that is a truly powerful

You are Love.
And you are deeply Loved.

Perhaps saying
“I Love you”
has a much deeper meaning

        Nothing but Love

“The nature of ‘reality’
is not only stranger than you imagine,
it’s stranger than you can imagine!

There is a saying that
“truth is stranger than fiction”
and this certainly applies to the nature of reality,
because in the light of increasing evidence,
what we have accepted to be the ‘truth’
about our everyday reality
is much more like the ‘fiction’
of our everyday reality.”

Our students honor the Loving memory of Anne Frank and over a million precious Jewish children lost to the evil of the holocaust. No. We shall never forget. Never. And we shall never stop Loving you.

Sometimes blow
Only one way,
Sometimes, we feel,

At dawn of day,

Whispering your name,
Beckoning you to stay
In Love
With this Precious Gift of Life

Superfoods
for Coping with Stress

When it comes to combating stress levels,
what you eat may help relieve your tension.
Some foods may help stabilize blood sugar
or your emotional response.
Here are12 foods to reach for
(GREAT for KIDS):

Green leafy vegetables

Like spinach they contain folate, which produces dopamine, a pleasure-inducing brain chemical, helping you keep calm,” says Heather Mangieri, RDN, of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. A 2012 study in the Journal of Affective Disorders of 2,800 middle-aged and elderly people and found those who consumed the most folate had a lower risk of depression. A 2013 study from the University of Otago found that college students tended to feel calmer, happier, and more energetic on days they ate more fruits and veggies.

Turkey breast

Tryptophan in turkey is to blame for that food coma on Thanksgiving.  The amino acid, found in protein-containing foods, helps produce serotonin, “the chemical that regulates hunger and feelings of happiness and well-being,” In a 2006 study published in the Journal of Psychiatry Neuroscience, men and women who were argumentative (based on personality tests) who took tryptophan were perceived as more agreeable compared with when they didn’t take it. (Canadian Institutes of Health Research) Other foods high in tryptophan include nuts, seeds, tofu, fish, lentils, oats, beans, and eggs.

Oatmeal

According to MIT research, carbohydrates can help the brain make serotonin, the same substance regulated by antidepressants. A complex carb like oatmeal won’t contribute to your already potential spike in blood glucose.”

Yogurt

A 2013 UCLA study revealed that consuming probiotics in yogurt reduced brain activity in areas that handle emotion, including stress. You really can’t go wrong by adding more of it to your diet.

Salmon

Ratchet up anxiety hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. The omega-3 fatty acids in salmon help counteract the negative effects of stress hormones,” according to Lisa Cimperman, RD, of the University Hospitals Case Medical Center. In a study funded by the National Institutes of Health, Oregon State University medical students who took omega-3 supplements had a 20% reduction in anxiety. One 3-ounce serving of cooked wild salmon can have more than 2,000 milligrams of omega-3s, double the daily intake recommended by the American Heart Association for people with heart disease.

Blueberries blueberries

The antioxidants and phytonutrients found in berries help improve your body’s response to stress and fight stress-related free radicals.” Research has also shown that blueberry eaters experience a boost in natural killer cells, “a type of white blood cell that plays a vital role in immunity according to Cynthia Sass, MPH, RD, Health’s contributing nutrition editor.

pistaciosPistachios

When you have an ongoing loop of negative thoughts playing in your mind, doing something repetitive with your hands may help silence your inner monologue. Think knitting or kneading bread—or even shelling nuts like pistachios or peanuts. The rhythmic moves will help you relax. Pistachios have heart-health benefits. Eating pistachios reduce acute stress by lowering blood pressure and heart rate. They contain key phytonutrients that provide antioxidant support for cardiovascular health.

Dark chocolate

Just a bite, not a whole bar, of dark chocolate can help to regulate your stress levels. Research has shown that it can reduce your stress hormones, including cortisol. The antioxidants in cocoa trigger the walls of your blood vessels to relax, lowering blood pressure and improving circulation. Dark chocolate contains unique natural substances that create a sense of euphoria similar to the feeling of being in love!” Go for varieties that contain at least 70% cocoa.

milkMilk

Fortified milk is an excellent source of vitamin D, a nutrient to boost happiness. A 50-year-long study by London’s UCL Institute of Child Health found an association between reduced levels of vitamin D and an increased risk of panic and depression. People whith sufficient vitamin D levels had a reduced risk of panic disorders. Other foods high in vitamin D include salmon, egg yolks, and fortified cereal.

Seeds

Flaxseed, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds are great sources of magnesium (as are leafy greens, yogurt, nuts, and fish). Loading up on the mineral helps regulate emotions. Magnesium has been shown to help alleviate depression, fatigue, and irritability.

Avocadoalvacado

This superfruit helps shut down stress-eating by filling your belly and making you feel more satisfied. In a 2014 study by Loma Linda University (which we MUST note was sponsored by the Hass Avocado Board), reduced desire to eat more by 40% for the three hours.

cashewsCashews

Researchers gave zinc supplements to people who were diagnosed with anxiety symptoms (irritability, lack of ability to concentrate) and patients saw a 31% decrease in anxiety, according to Nutrition and Metabolic Insights. Zinc affects the levels of a nerve chemical that influences mood. Other zinc-rich foods are oysters, beef, chicken, and yogurt. Cashews are also rich in omega-3s and protein, so they’re a smart snack.

The Cathedral of Your Heart

The Majesty of coming to be
Is rarely given for us to see.
Mirrored in each other,
Through eyes
That more than see,
We are given, one to the other,
To look at in wonder,
You and me.

And seeing what we believe
To be the Majesty of being,
We find ourselves
Looking outward,
To see what lies within.

And discover in ourselves,
In the endlessness of creation,
That we are far more
Than we could ever discover,
As we look through
The eyes of Love,
Through the Heart of another.

Don't poison your children with pesticides! Use natural methods (and BIRDS).

Don’t poison your children with pesticides! Use natural methods (and the BIRDS).

Love
Is a journey of discovery,
To find ourselves
Deeply embedded
In the Heart of our Creator,
And alive forever.

So when your heart has been
Too Lonely,
And the night has been too long,
And sufferance seems everlasting,
Thirst from dusk to dawn.
Oh, when the darkness

Never gives in,
And your dreams

Are the only Love left in life,
And there is seemingly no end,
For awake you cannot begin.

Love, whose Seed you are,
Cradled in the Warmth of God’s Heart,
Will find you one day
Blossom in His Spring.

You are a Flower,

And R. J. is down. And it's One, Two, Three - your out.

And R. J. is down. And it’s One, Two, Three – your out. The new dog wrestling champion is . . . LEXI?

Who in a Moment of His Time,
Is picked to give Hope
To another,
Who can only dream.

Child of so many restless nights,
Listen, as He softly whispers your name.
Your Father in the Heavens above
Loves you and worships you,
As you do your child,
In the Cathedral of your Heart.

You are the beautiful child of His Dream,
In His Own Image were you made,
Cradled in the Dawn of His Light,
And with His Breath, given Life.

For you the day began,
For you the Earth was formed,
Shaped into magnificent being.
Love has brought you here,
And Love will keep you near
To the very Heart
Of God.

It doesn't get much better than this.

It doesn’t get much better than this.

When the tide of your trust rises
To claim your faith in the Lord,
And drown the tender need
From which you were born,
The Grace of God
Will lift your dreams,
And you,
Beyond.

Rejoice in your Heart,
For Love
Is to be aware
That Life
Is a Beautiful Song,
And this, my friend,
Is just the dawn.

Now, in Faith carry on,
Sing His Song,
All day long.
In your trusting eyes,
He will always be strong.

Scientists at Harvard Medical School have advised all adults to take a multi-vitamin supplement to help prevent suboptimal levels of nutrients that may contribute to the onset of diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and osteoporosis. For example, suboptimal levels of folic acid and vitamins B6 and B12 are a risk factor for cardiovascular disease and cancer of the colon and breast. Deficient levels of calcium and vitamin D can contribute to osteoporosis and the loss of bone mass. While multi-vitamins can help to prevent certain illnesses, research indicates that abundant intake of fruits and vegetables can prevent some of the major diseases of aging. Studies at the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition in Los Angeles, have reported that higher intake of fruits and vegetables is associated with a reduced incidence of many common forms of cancer.

The World Cancer Research Fund published an extensive review of the

effects of vegetable and fruit consumption on cancer risk. After reviewing hundreds of studies, this not-for-profit group determined conclusively that vegetables and fruits protect against cancer. The panel noted that consumption of at least five servings a day of vegetables and fruits was associated with an approximately 50% reduced risk for cancer compared to the risk associated with consuming only one or two servings. The panel also noted that the cancer-preventive effects of fruits and vegetables were dose dependent, with in-creased intake conferring greater protection.

Compelling evidence likewise suggests that a diet rich in fruits and vegetables can lower the risk of heart disease, the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in the US and worldwide. People who consume more fruits and vegetables often have a lower prevalence of important risk factors for cardiovascular disease, including hypertension, obesity, and type II diabetes. Regular and frequent consumption of fruits and vegetables has also been shown to lower the risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, atherosclerosis, and hypertension.

A large study conducted in Finland examined the effects of dietary fruit, berry, and vegetable intake on cardiovascular mortality and all-cause mortality in men. More than 2,000 Finnish men participated in the study. Men with the highest consumption of fruits, berries, and vegetables had a 41% lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease and a 44% lower risk of all-cause death than men who consumed the least amount of fruits, berries, and vegetables. The study authors concluded, diets that are rich in plant-derived foods can promote longevity.”

Fruits and vegetables not only contain beneficial vitamins, minerals, and enzymes, but also provide a wealth of phytonutrients. These plant-based compounds likely are responsible for some of the protective effects of fruits and vegetables. Phytonutrients are versatile and powerful agents that help to modulate disease risk through a variety of mechanisms. For example, the glucosinolates in broccoli have been associated with a reduced risk of cancer, particularly of the lung and gastrointestinal tract. These compounds appear to offer protection by stimulating the liver’s Phase II enzymes, which are powerful detoxifiers of chemical carcinogens. By contrast, the polyphenols present in olive extract promote health through a different mechanism. In humans, olive polyphenols have been shown to increase the resistance of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) to oxidation. Oxidized LDL is a significant risk factor for the development of heart disease and atherosclerosis.

Pomegranate Promotes Heart Health

The pomegranate is a widely cultivated tropical fruit that is native to Asia. Valued throughout history as a symbol of health and fertility, pomegranates contain many seeds enclosed in juicy red pulp and covered in a tough red rind. Pomegranate appears to be one of the most powerful sources of antioxidants among dietary plants, demonstrating a number of actions that can help prevent disease and aging. Ellagic acid, a polyphenol compound found in pomegranate, has been associated with antioxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-atherogenic biological properties. Pomegranate polyphenols have been found to protect LDL against cell-mediated oxidation.

FOR HEALTHY BLOOD PRESSURE
It is beautiful. And, Dr. A had too much coffee.

Yes, it is beautiful. And, Dr. A had too much coffee.

High blood pressure often is a silent yet dangerous condition that increases the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Researchers in Athens, Greece, investigated the effects of the Mediterranean diet – rich in fruits, vegetables, and olive oil—on blood pressure in adults. Over 20,000 subjects who had never been diagnosed with hypertension participated in the study. Adherence to the Mediterranean diet was significantly associated with lower levels of systolic and diastolic blood pressure. By contrast, intake of cereals, meat and meat products, and ethanol was associated with higher levels of arterial blood pressure. A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and olive oil has been demonstrated to promote healthy blood pressure levels.

Chinese researchers investigated the effects of dietary intake of lycopene and other carotenoids on the prevention of prostate cancer in men.

Information on food consumption, including fruits and vegetables, was gathered using an interview and questionnaire. The researchers found that prostate cancer risk declined with increasing consumption of lycopene, alpha carotene, beta-carotene, beta-cryptoxanthin, lutein, and zeaxanthin.

Consumption of tomatoes, pumpkin, spinach, watermelon, and citrus fruits was also associated with a reduced risk of prostate cancer. The dose-response relationships were also significant in this study, suggesting that increasing one’s intake of lycopene and other carotenoid-rich vegetables and fruits may offer protection from prostate cancer.

10 Common Habits That Seriously Damage Your Kidneys

By Amy Goodrich in NaturalNews.com

Dr. A is desperate for company.

Dr. A is desperate for company.

Here’s a list of 10 common habits that put a lot of pressure on your kidneys and can cause serious damage over time.

1.    Not Drinking Enough Water
2.    Too Much Salt In Your Diet

As a good rule of thumb, no more than 5 grams of salt should be eaten on a daily basis.

3.    Frequently Delaying The Call Of Nature

Retaining urine on a regular basis increases urine pressure and can lead to kidney failure, kidney stones, and incontinence.

4.    Kick The Sugar Habit

People who consume 2 or more sugary drinks a day are more likely to have protein in their urine.

5.    Vitamin And Mineral Deficiencies

Now, that's an interesting Leaf.

Now, that’s an interesting Leaf.

Eating a clean, whole food diet full of fresh vegetables and fruits is important for your overall health and a good kidney function. Many deficiencies can increase the risk of kidney stones or kidney failure. Vitamin B6 and magnesium, for instance, are super important to reduce the risk of kidney stones.

An estimated 70 to 80 percent of Americans isn’t getting enough magnesium, so there may be a good chance that you are one of them. Click here to learn more about magnesium deficiencies.

6.    Too Much Animal Protein

Over consumption of protein, especially red meat, increases the metabolic load on your kidneys. So more protein in your diet means your kidneys have to work harder and this can lead to kidney damage or dysfunction over time.

And look at this Beauty!

And look at this Beauty found in our Butterfly Garden! The world is full of God’s living art, if you do not murder everything around you, including your family, with pesticides. What do you think causes cancer?

7.    Sleep Deprivation

Chronic sleep deprivation is linked to many diseases and kidney diseases are also on the list. During the night your body repairs damaged kidney tissue.

8.    Coffee

Caffeine can raise blood pressure and put extra stress on your kidneys. Over time excessive consumption of coffee can cause damage to your kidneys. A couple of cups will provide 60 antioxidants. Many more than that and you, too, will be photographing leaves.

9.    Painkiller Abuse

Way too many people take painkillers for their small aches and pains, while there are many all-natural, safe remedies available. Excessive use or painkiller abuse can lead to severe damage of liver and kidneys.

10.  Alcohol Consumption

027

Mosquito problem? NO. But we must feed the birds the main course. They then have mosquitoes for (burp) dessert. Mosquitoes are the DEADLIEST creatures on this planet!

Alcohol is actually a legal toxin that puts a lot of stress on our kidneys and liver. Please see this weblog dated 02/26/14 – What To Tell Your Kids About Alcohol (go to: News & Events/Newsletters/Digital Newsletters.) You will be shocked to discover what alcohol really is. (Hint: put a long straw in the septic tank and you will get the same effect!)

R. J. & my Foot

Rosie Jr. and his favorite pillow – my foot.

In order to defeat cancer and ensure there is no recurrence, the body must be brought into balance and the immune system rebuilt and fine tuned. So how is this feat accomplished? Detox and achieve a slightly alkaline pH, while filling the body with the best, organic, nutritionally dense food available. Your goal is to rebuild a killer immune system as you bathe every non-cancerous cell in your body with nutrition. By the way, you can purchase naturally alkaline water – ETERNAL WATER by name – at your local health food store.

Specific foods known to eliminate cancer:

Omega 3

Mrs. Anderson is again busy tutoring students.

Mrs. Anderson is again busy tutoring students.

Oily fish, fish oil, flax seed oil, hemp oil, and healthy oil blend supplements provide omega 3 fatty acids (and other beneficial fatty acids), which fight inflammation and make the body less hospitable to cancer cells. Vitamin D is also known to kill cancer, and you can find many fish oils and some vegan oil blends with vitamin D in them. Personally, I take D3 daily for arthritis. Yes, I have found relief from the pain. Thank you again, Linda Latham, for the compassionate recommendation.

Cruciferous Vegetables

Cruciferous vegetables include broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussel sprouts, watercress, kale, collard greens, cauliflower, bok choy, turnips, rutabagas, radishes, arugula, and more. These vegetables contain sulforaphane and other helpful compounds, which help fight tumors, breast, prostate, brain, and colorectal cancers, as well as leukemia. Broccoli sprouts and mature broccoli in combination really pack nutritional, cancer fighting punch.

Berries

Black raspberries appear to reign supreme, though all berries contain cancer fighting phytonutrients and high amounts of ellagic acid, which inhibit tumor growth.

Maitake and Shiitake Mushrooms

Google maitake mushrooms cancer. Continue your search and study after study reveals they do. Mushrooms boost immune function and are a great source of antioxidants. They are also rich in vitamins C and B vitamins as well as calcium and other minerals.

Tumeric

Curcumin, found in turmeric, inhibits the spread of cancer (metastases) along with its anti-inflammatory and oxidative effects. Tumeric can be found at farmer’s markets in root form. It can be used liberally to spice your food (great on salads or in salad dressing as well as in cooked dishes) with no side effects. Curcumin also comes in pill or tablet form available from your health food store.

Tomatoes

The active compounds found in tomatoes, carotenoids and lycopene (especially lycopene), are very helpful, especially in the fight of prostrate and pancreatic cancer in men. Seven to ten helpings are week are suggested, both cooked and raw juice. To gain the health benefits of juice, make your own. Store bought tomato juice will be pasteurized. Lycopene is a strong antioxidant.

Folate

Egg yolks,  avocadoes,  apricots,  green leafy vegetables, and pumpkin are among the foods rich in folate. For meat eaters, chicken livers are very high in folate. Studies involving folate or its synthetic form, folic acid, show a significant reduced risk of colorectal cancer. Folate or folic acid is essential for the body to correctly replicate DNA.

Garlic

Even the National Cancer Institute admits garlic “…may reduce the risk of developing several types of cancer, especially cancers of the gastrointestinal tract”. Garlic reduces inflammation, fights free radicals, and fights cancer. Eat it raw or chop it up and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before cooking with it or its beneficial compound, allicin, will not be released. Garlic may be purchased in pill or tables form from your health food store.

Grapes

Mr. Lacey is helping with Latin, Greek & Epic Literature

Mr. Lacey, with our gratitude, is helping with Latin, Greek & Epic Literature.

The compound found in red grapes, resveratrol, is a powerful antioxidant that also saves cells from oxidant-caused death. Grape seeds have huge benefits. We recommend you don’t eat grapes without seeds.

Conclusion

An alkaline, balanced diet with plenty of nutrition, and as few toxins as possible, makes the body inhospitable to cancer. Sugar feeds cancer. Processed and refined foods feed cancer. Raw, organic vegetables, especially when grown for maximum nutrient content (as opposed to large scale farming) should be the foundation of any healthy diet. We also recommend that anyone with cancer undergo a full body detox with a supplement regimen specifically designed for your current state of health.
