                                                           by: Michael Edwards

(NaturalNews)  One teaspoon of Cinnamon Powder has up to 16% of the U.S. recommended daily allowance for Manganese, 5% for fiber 3% for iron, and 3% for calcium.

Blood and Inflammation Reduction
Cinnamon helps reduce unwanted blood platelet clotting, which can result in inadequate blood flow, and is a common symptom of various diseases and overall poor health.

Cinnamon Is a Powerful Antimicrobial Spice
Cinnamon is antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and antiparasitic.

Multiple studies have shown cinnamon’s effectiveness with a multitude of viruses including but not limited to HIV, herpes, and the adenovirus. Cinnamon even shows promise with cancer.

Cancer Treatment and Preventive
Research shows that Cinnamon oil is a promising solution in the treatment of Tumors, Gastric Cancers, leukemia, colon cancer, and lymphoma cancer. and Melanomas. Research studies show that sugar maybe causing or sustaining cancer cells (another reason to STOP buying sugary soft drinks for you precious child) and cinnamon may have a mitigating effect by controlling blood sugar levels in the body.

Another study found good results with leukemia and lymphoma cancer cells. Cinnamon in its various forms has two chemical constituents called Cinnamaldehyde and Eugenol (From Cinnamon Oil). These have been used to develop nutraceuticals in this study that have proven fairly effective in fighting Human Colon Cancer Cells (Eugenol) and Human hepatoma cells (Cinnamaldehyde). So the evidence seems to suggest that Cinnamon is starving cancer cells of the sugar needed to sustain them. read more

Antioxidant
With an ORAC value of 267536 (USDA 2007) cinnamon is one of the top seven anti-oxidants in the world.

He is quite the acrobat.

Cinnamon a powerful antioxidant. In a study that compared the antioxidant activity of 26 spices, cinnamon wound up as the clear winner, even outranking “superfoods” like garlic and oregano.

Depression/Reduced irritability/Mood Enhancer

Cinnamon may be an excellent cure for depression in a more round about way. There is some evidence that certain types of gut bacteria may make you more susceptible to depression. Cinnamon as a powerful stomach anti bacterial may help you remove the bad bacteria. However since Cinnamon removes both bad and good bacteria from your stomach you would be advised to repopulate your body with good bacteria by drinking a good probiotic or eating fermented food after taking Cinnamon. more

Blood Sugar, Diabetes
Cinnamon stabilizes blood sugar levels, which can help with weight loss, and can also prevent, and even help reverse, diabetes and hypoglycemia.

One study found Cassia cinnamon was almost twice as effective as the same amount of Ceylon cinnamon for controlling blood sugar.

Lowering LDL Cholesterol and Triglycerides
Studies have found that regular consumption of cinnamon is associated with a statistically significant decrease in levels of LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and an increase in HDL cholesterol (known as the good cholesterol).

Cinnamon and the Brain
Folklore says the smell of cinnamon can cure the winter blues. Cinnamon consumption may delay the effects of, slow the effects of, and even reverse some of the effects of Alzheimer’s. In addition, some parents are using cinnamon to treat their children with ADHD.

Alertness, Memory & Cognitive Development
According to a study by Dr. Bryan Raudenbush, Associate professor of psychology at Wheeling Jesuit University. Cinnamon may keep you more alert and decrease your frustration when you are behind the wheel.

This hard to verify German study cited in this article those taking Cinnamon improved their response times and memory recall. While not scientific, experience suggests pretty good results in alertness and concentration.

Cold, Sore Throat and Cough – At the first sign (within 5-10 minutes) of sniffles or an itch in your throat take some Cinnamon Tea or Cinnamon stick Tea. It is said to stop an impending illness in its tracks. Again this is related to the anti bacterial properties and warming properties of Cinnamon and its propensity to increase blood flow and thereby improve blood oxygen levels to fight illness. Chinese traditional medicine commonly recommends Cinnamon for phlegm coughs.

Alzheimer’s Disease
An Israeli study done at the University of Tel Aviv that found sufficient evidence to conclude that Cinnamon can delay the effects of five aggressive strains of Alzheimer’s inducing genes. Another study also finds that orally administered Cinnamon extract has had good success in correcting Cognitive Impairment in Alzheimer’s Disease in Animal Models.

More Ways to Use Cinnamon
There are various essential oils extracted from various parts of the tree (not just the bark), and various species to choose from.

Tooth and Gum Health
Antibacterial properties of cinnamon remove harmful bacteria without damaging teeth or gums. Try using cinnamon with homemade mouthwash and toothpaste recipes. Also, with coconut oil and a few drops of cinnamon oil.

Insect Repellant
Cinnamon essential oil can be used for head lice treatment and to repel (or kill) ants, bed bugs, dust mites, roaches, and mosquitoes.

Skin Infections Like Athlete’s Foot
Try cinnamon oil on any topical skin infection, including athlete’s foot. It’s antimicrobial properties make quick work out of fungus.

Digestion
Cinnamon is very effective for treating indigestion, nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, diarrhea and flatulence. Cinnamon eliminates excess gas from the stomach and intestines, removes acidity, kills pathogens and acts as a diuretic to stop diarrhea. It relieves irritable bowel syndrome, reduces morning sickness, and is often referred to as a digestive tonic.

Menstruation
Cinnamon has been shown to provide relief from menstrual discomfort and cramping.

Breastfeeding
Regular consumption of cinnamon after childbirth delays menstruation, especially when combined with breastfeeding. Many believe that cinnamon promotes healthier breast milk as well.

Massage
Cinnamon is also an anti-inflammatory substance that combined with carrier oil for massage, and when consumed, can help soothe and remove stiffness in muscles and joints.

Wound Healing
Cinnamon oil acts as a coagulant to stop excess bleeding, and it kills infectious pathogens, facilitating the healing process.

The cinnamon in your pantry is most likely many years old, stale, and of little potency. Stale cinnamon has reduced flavor and health benefits. It may be time to go cinnamon shopping.

The Cathedral of Your Heart

The Majesty of coming to be
Is rarely given for us to see.
Mirrored in each other,
Through eyes
That more than see,
We are given, one to the other,
To look at in wonder,
You and me.

And seeing what we believe
To be the Majesty of being,
We find ourselves
Looking outward,
To see what lies within.

And discover in ourselves,
In the endlessness of creation,
That we are far more
Than we could ever discover,
As we look through
The eyes of Love,
Through the Heart of another.

Love
Is a journey of discovery,
To find ourselves
Deeply embedded
In the Heart of our Creator,
And alive forever.

So when your heart has been
Too Lonely,
And the night has been too long,
And sufferance seems everlasting,
Thirst from dusk to dawn.
Oh, when the darkness

Never gives in,
And your dreams

Are the only Love left in life,
And there is seemingly no end,
For awake you cannot begin.

Love, whose Seed you are,
Cradled in the Warmth of God’s Heart,
Will find you one day
Blossom in His Spring.

Child of so many restless nights,
Listen, as He softly whispers your name.
Your Father in the Heavens above
Loves you and worships you,
As you do your child,
In the Cathedral of your Heart.

You are the beautiful child of His Dream,
In His Own Image were you made,
Cradled in the Dawn of His Light,
And with His Breath, given Life.

For you the day began,
For you the Earth was formed,
Shaped into magnificent being.
Love has brought you here,

Rejoice in your Heart,
For Love
Is to be aware
That Life
Is a Beautiful Song,
And this, my friend,
Is just the dawn.

Now, in Faith carry on,
Sing His Song,
All day long.

What’s Missing from Multi-Vitamin Supplements?
By Elizabeth Wagner, ND
read more

Scientists at Harvard Medical School have advised all adults to take a multi-vitamin supplement to help prevent suboptimal levels of nutrients that may contribute to the onset of diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and osteoporosis. For example, suboptimal levels of folic acid and vitamins B6 and B12 are a risk factor for cardiovascular disease and cancer of the colon and breast. Deficient levels of calcium and vitamin D can contribute to osteoporosis and the loss of bone mass. While multi-vitamins can help to prevent certain illnesses, research indicates that abundant intake of fruits and vegetables can prevent some of the major diseases of aging. Studies at the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition in Los Angeles, have reported that higher intake of fruits and vegetables is associated with a reduced incidence of many common forms of cancer.

The World Cancer Research Fund published an extensive review of the

We don't explain them. We just train them.

effects of vegetable and fruit consumption on cancer risk. After reviewing hundreds of studies, this not-for-profit group determined conclusively that vegetables and fruits protect against cancer. The panel noted that consumption of at least five servings a day of vegetables and fruits was associated with an approximately 50% reduced risk for cancer compared to the risk associated with consuming only one or two servings. The panel also noted that the cancer-preventive effects of fruits and vegetables were dose dependent, with in-creased intake conferring greater protection.

Compelling evidence likewise suggests that a diet rich in fruits and vegetables can lower the risk of heart disease, the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in the US and worldwide. People who consume more fruits and vegetables often have a lower prevalence of important risk factors for cardiovascular disease, including hypertension, obesity, and type II diabetes. Regular and frequent consumption of fruits and vegetables has also been shown to lower the risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, atherosclerosis, and hypertension.

American dogs can become

American dogs can become a little “Spoiled”.

A large study conducted in Finland examined the effects of dietary fruit, berry, and vegetable intake on cardiovascular mortality and all-cause mortality in men. More than 2,000 Finnish men participated in the study. Men with the highest consumption of fruits, berries, and vegetables had a 41% lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease and a 44% lower risk of all-cause death than men who consumed the least amount of fruits, berries, and vegetables. The study authors concluded, diets that are rich in plant-derived foods can promote longevity.”

Fruits and vegetables not only contain beneficial vitamins, minerals, and enzymes, but also provide a wealth of phytonutrients. These plant-based compounds likely are responsible for some of the protective effects of fruits and vegetables. Phytonutrients are versatile and powerful agents that help to modulate disease risk through a variety of mechanisms. For example, the glucosinolates in broccoli have been associated with a reduced risk of cancer, particularly of the lung and gastrointestinal tract. These compounds appear to offer protection by stimulating the liver’s Phase II enzymes, which are powerful detoxifiers of chemical carcinogens. By contrast, the polyphenols present in olive extract promote health through a different mechanism. In humans, olive polyphenols have been shown to increase the resistance of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) to oxidation. Oxidized LDL is a significant risk factor for the development of heart disease and atherosclerosis.

Pomegranate Promotes Heart Health

The pomegranate is a widely cultivated tropical fruit that is native to Asia. Valued throughout history as a symbol of health and fertility, pomegranates contain many seeds enclosed in juicy red pulp and covered in a tough red rind. Pomegranate appears to be one of the most powerful sources of antioxidants among dietary plants, demonstrating a number of actions that can help prevent disease and aging. Ellagic acid, a polyphenol compound found in pomegranate, has been associated with antioxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-atherogenic biological properties. Pomegranate polyphenols have been found to protect LDL against cell-mediated oxidation.

Yes, it is beautiful. And, Dr. A had too much coffee.

High blood pressure often is a silent yet dangerous condition that increases the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Researchers in Athens, Greece, investigated the effects of the Mediterranean diet – rich in fruits, vegetables, and olive oil—on blood pressure in adults. Over 20,000 subjects who had never been diagnosed with hypertension participated in the study. Adherence to the Mediterranean diet was significantly associated with lower levels of systolic and diastolic blood pressure. By contrast, intake of cereals, meat and meat products, and ethanol was associated with higher levels of arterial blood pressure. A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and olive oil has been demonstrated to promote healthy blood pressure levels.

Chinese researchers investigated the effects of dietary intake of lycopene and other carotenoids on the prevention of prostate cancer in men.

Information on food consumption, including fruits and vegetables, was gathered using an interview and questionnaire. The researchers found that prostate cancer risk declined with increasing consumption of lycopene, alpha carotene, beta-carotene, beta-cryptoxanthin, lutein, and zeaxanthin.

Consumption of tomatoes, pumpkin, spinach, watermelon, and citrus fruits was also associated with a reduced risk of prostate cancer. The dose-response relationships were also significant in this study, suggesting that increasing one’s intake of lycopene and other carotenoid-rich vegetables and fruits may offer protection from prostate cancer.

10 Common Habits That Seriously Damage Your Kidneys

By Amy Goodrich in NaturalNews.com

Dr. A is desperate for company.

Dr. A is desperate for company.

Here’s a list of 10 common habits that put a lot of pressure on your kidneys and can cause serious damage over time.

1.    Not Drinking Enough Water
2.    Too Much Salt In Your Diet

As a good rule of thumb, no more than 5 grams of salt should be eaten on a daily basis.

3.    Frequently Delaying The Call Of Nature

Retaining urine on a regular basis increases urine pressure and can lead to kidney failure, kidney stones, and incontinence.

4.    Kick The Sugar Habit

People who consume 2 or more sugary drinks a day are more likely to have protein in their urine.

5.    Vitamin And Mineral Deficiencies

Now, that's an interesting Leaf.

Now, that’s an interesting Leaf.

Eating a clean, whole food diet full of fresh vegetables and fruits is important for your overall health and a good kidney function. Many deficiencies can increase the risk of kidney stones or kidney failure. Vitamin B6 and magnesium, for instance, are super important to reduce the risk of kidney stones.

An estimated 70 to 80 percent of Americans isn’t getting enough magnesium, so there may be a good chance that you are one of them. Click here to learn more about magnesium deficiencies.

6.    Too Much Animal Protein

Over consumption of protein, especially red meat, increases the metabolic load on your kidneys. So more protein in your diet means your kidneys have to work harder and this can lead to kidney damage or dysfunction over time.

And look at this Beauty!

And look at this Beauty found in our Butterfly Garden! The world is full of God’s living art, if you do not murder everything around you, including your family, with pesticides. What do you think causes cancer?

7.    Sleep Deprivation

Chronic sleep deprivation is linked to many diseases and kidney diseases are also on the list. During the night your body repairs damaged kidney tissue.

8.    Coffee

Caffeine can raise blood pressure and put extra stress on your kidneys. Over time excessive consumption of coffee can cause damage to your kidneys. A couple of cups will provide 60 antioxidants. Many more than that and you, too, will be photographing leaves.

9.    Painkiller Abuse

Way too many people take painkillers for their small aches and pains, while there are many all-natural, safe remedies available. Excessive use or painkiller abuse can lead to severe damage of liver and kidneys.

10.  Alcohol Consumption

027

Mosquito problem? NO. But we must feed the birds the main course. They then have mosquitoes for (burp) dessert. Mosquitoes are the DEADLIEST creatures on this planet!

Alcohol is actually a legal toxin that puts a lot of stress on our kidneys and liver. Please see this weblog dated 02/26/14 – What To Tell Your Kids About Alcohol (go to: News & Events/Newsletters/Digital Newsletters.) You will be shocked to discover what alcohol really is. (Hint: put a long straw in the septic tank and you will get the same effect!)
