The Melody Of This Moment / Oxford Apocalyptic Risks / Spring Break This Week

Dedicated to Brian Youngblood,
Associate Director of Bands and
Director of the Horned Frog Marching Band,
T.C.U. School of Music,
who has dedicated his life
to teaching and sharing his Love
of the astonishing beauty found
in the magic of music.
Thank you.
Rylee

There is a powerful sense of beauty in the melody of this moment.

Everything that could possibly happen
is waiting in the wings,
eager for its opportunity, its big moment.
And as soon as it gets a chance, it’ll happen.
Don’t take it personally.
– Christian de Quincy

The mind, in its natural state,
Surrendering to its fullness,
The astonishing beauty of the present moment,
Is not tarnished with harmful emotion.

We need do nothing to find inner peace,
Just listen to the sound
Of what feels warm to our heart.

Music – That Next Place

Immanuel Kant
Gave us insight into our perception of reality,
And the objects of our perception.
His was the realization that all we ever truly know,
Or think we know,
Is generated in our minds.
The world itself, what lies outside of perception,
“the thing-in-itself”,
Remains unknowable.

Now, did you do what Dr. A asked you to do?

Now, did you do what Dr. A asked you to do?

The night bird’s song
May be living a life of its own.
For in your mind,
Long after this tiny artist’s
Gifts of life and Love are gone,
The magic moment of its melody
May go on and on,
Like the music of your life,
In the heart and mind of another.

Music – Hymn to the Sea

A piece of music,
Composed with such Love,
Can drift through life
And remain suspended in our memory,
Without sinking,
Into what we assume,
Is our reality.

It may move through space and time,
As it transgresses what we imagine
Are laws that govern what is known.

Through your mind,
Such Celestial vibrations can wander
In seemingly aimless directions,
Although a pathway is charted,
As it creates warmth and tenderness,
With beautiful anticipation.

Music – Whisper of a Thrill

Effortlessly, the gift of music transports you

Sometimes it pays not to measure up.

Sometimes it pays not to measure up.

To a place of consciousness that lies
Outside the plane of awareness.
The delicate sound of a caressing song
Enables your mind to visualize images
Of what may be more real,
Than is real,
To you.

It may transcend the illusions of the material world.
With everything physical in perpetual motion,
In a dance of seeming indifference,
The imagination of the mind can freeze
A frame of pure emotion.

The shadow of its smile
May fall upon an image of what you truly feel,
A fragment of your creation,
Conveyed to the very heart of desire.

Music – Somewhere in Time

There is a powerful sense of beauty,
In the melody of this moment.

Sign bAwareness of this beauty,
Can set your mind truly free,
Make you feel so deeply,
That you are suddenly in touch
With your inner reality,
The essence of your being,
Revealed.

Music – Blessed are the Dead Which Die in the Lord

You are born free
to follow your heart.

Life is only worth living,
if you are born free.
– John Barry, Don Black

It can take you to a better place,
Much better than a house
Built upon so many dreams.
The music of your life
Can allow you to become
Fully aware of being,
In a truly effortless moment.

Music – Born Free

As Julito Tabalba  expresses:

I thought they were gone – but hearing this song –
I could, for a moment, find me and my friends
racing against the wind – and hear while calling my name.
We continued the race through the endless land
that stretches so far and high that somewhere,
it finally meets the sky.
We had all the time in our hands
and everything we touch was ours then.

Experience what has been so

We don't explain them. We just train them.

We don’t explain them. We just train them.

Beautifully crafted for you.
The sounds of song,
The vibrations of life,
Are essential signals
On the path to intimacy,
To insight, to Love.

Music – In Paradisum from Requiem op. 48

My friends, relax and allow your mind to experience
The incredible softness
And healthy caress
Of the magical elixir of poetic moments and relaxing music.
There is no need for your mind to remain weary,
As you toil to exist day by day,
Harvesting a few meager moments of meaning,
From what can become
An unreal world.

Someone, somewhere,
Listens to hear your song.
They have been listening all day.
And your day is not long.

Its cadence is the very beat of your heart.

One day, in the brief dawn of this life,
You may hear your own song,
Mirrored in the heart of another,
Reflected off the walls
Of a world you never knew.
And its echoes will go on and on.

Music – Legends of the Fall

Let us pray,
It is not on the day
You die.

Hey! What can I say? He's gifted.

Hey! What can I say? He’s gifted.

“Pull out the chair
Beneath your ego,
And you will fall
Into the Heart of God.

Music – Unchained Melody

Oxford University scientists warn of these apocalyptic risks

From our friend , here’s the list of apocalyptic threats documented by Oxford University scientists:

1. Global pandemic
2. Super Volcano
3. Artificial Intelligence
4. Extreme climate change
5. Synthetic biology
6. Asteroid impact
7. Ecological collapse
8. Nanotechnology
9. Nuclear war
10. Government collapse
11. Global economic collapse

The report, covered in the Financial Times and also the Daily Mail, offers a scientific assessment of the twelve most likely risks of a literal apocalypse across our planet.

Artificial Intelligence, nanotech, synthetic biology and GMOs are all technologies that scientists say can only help humanity; yet that’s what they also promised about DDT, Agent Orange, nuclear weapons, chemotherapy and a long list of other sciences that were later used to cause widespread suffering and death.

Murphy’s Law says that if something can go wrong, it will.

Biotechnology has no special immunity against Murphy’s Law. Nor do AI research firms like Google, which has already developed weapons-carrying humanoid robots with laser rangefinders, following in the path of fictional Terminators from the realm of sci-fi.

               “Technology without wisdom is suicide.”

Now, it seems, even Oxford scientists are beginning to acknowledge the very real risks of pursuing runaway science, runaway global debt and runaway ecological destruction in the name of “profits.”

Some people got to sigh
Some people never see the light
Until the day they die.”
Neil Diamond

Clouds up close
Revealing the love hidden deep within the heart
can become seemingly impossible. But it is not.

bird on ringI have helped small birds back into their nests. Later, as I heard  their joyful sounds, I realized such brief, precious moments can reveal the love of life deeply held in such tiny and trembling hearts. These hearts are weighed down, not so much by misfortune or circumstance, but by apathy, by noticing nothing but the self, by constantly looking ahead and not seeing into this moment, by losing control of consciousness and neglecting the precious life that is all around, by living only inside of your own body and mind and not in the lives of those all around you.

Our trip on Friday was to the Modern Art Museum.

Our trip on Friday was to the Modern Art Museum.

In just one moment, you can suddenly realize that your happiness and your joy truly reside only in the hearts of others. The most miserable people on earth have only ever met themselves. They have only met their own personal desires and needs.

These truly sad people never realized that the physical and spiritual nature of our own reality tells us that we are one. We are woven from Fabric that is not just the same, but made by the same Maker in the same Pattern. They never noticed that when we breathe in, the plants breathe out, that when we smile, someone smiles back, that when we give to someone on their knees in need, our deepest inner needs are met. They never knew that when we extend our love to others, we are truly loved. They never discovered the simplistic and vital truth that we are truly one, just one, and only one.

The Modern was filled with amazingly beautiful creatures.

The Modern was filled with amazingly beautiful creatures.

My friends, there are nests everywhere. The fallen are at your feet. Their cries for help may never be heard, but they are there. These people, and all of God’s beautiful creations in need, may not be seen. But if you search for them, they will reveal themselves. SEEK and you will FIND (Matthew 7:7). Knock, and the door of opportunity to help so many others, will be opened to you.

And as you open this door, you will discover that your inner joy, the peace

We found joy in amazing places.

We found joy in amazing places and with unusual puppets.

that your heart so fervently desires, the reason for your being, resides on the other side of you. It lives in the song of a bird, in the laughter of someone else, in the lives of so many in need.

Reflections 2

The reflection of your life is more real than you are.

The reflection of your life is more real that you are.

It will live on long past your time on earth. You can become philosophical and peel the image of yourself off the mirror of life, and then give it to others. The world around you is a mirror. Look into it. Find yourself. And envision just how beautiful you are, as you more clearly see through the loving and grateful eyes of others.

God made you in His Image. You are the reflection of His deep and abiding Love. And you are so beautiful.

Lunch at the Modern was a beautiful experience.

I invite you to witness a few acts of kindness caught on camera. (click here)

My friends, bound away across the wide expanse of yesterday, you have arrived upon the shores of this day. And the essence of your being is a miraculous discovery. Treasure it. Share it. Your heart, like a beautiful and wild flower, is planted in the fertile soil of God’s Eternal Love. Let it blossom. Let it be.

Island of Dreams / Movie: Dolphin Tail 2 and Bookstore

for
LeVonna,
who pours the gift of her life
into the Beautiful Vessels of God’s Creative Love
– Precious Children from Heaven Above.

And for
You.

It is so very hard to shape how you feel,
to build a pathway home,

With the paving stones of words.
– Wm. C. Anderson

Island of Dreams
                            – Wm. C. Anderson

From the impossibility of coming
From nothing, it seems
We have risen to a vision
Of unbelievably beautiful dreams.

Spun from the Fabric
Of God’s Eternal Love,
Filled with His Very Own Breath,
Shaped by Desire from Above.

The Tapestry of what is
So radiantly beautiful to see,
Is the Glory of God’s Love,
Woven into you and me.

Now we dwell in the Shadow
Of Everlasting Grace,
And feel the warmth of His Sun,
Like the Breath of Life upon your face.

But when we are through being born,
When this life surrenders us to Love,
One Light shall pierce the darkest night,
A Light from Heaven Above.

And no time will there be for silence.
Someone sings for you and for me,

Sounds of Pure Joy that resonate
In Songs of Love and cherished memory.

And when we drift so very, very far from shore,
And chisel stones to throw at memory,

By countless acts of loving and forgiving,
We skip them over the sparkling waters to be.

Deftly they touch the surface of the past,
Pulsating like the beat of a new born heart,
As God’s Love is Birth Infinity,
Ever here to begin again, again to start.

Guided by such Love given you and me,
We shall not lie afraid in the dark,
For we are held in the Warm Embrace of God,
And alive in each others heart.

God fills the midnight of the Soul,
And in the endlessness of time it seems,
We will, one day, meet again,
On His beautiful Island of Dreams.

Amen.

A new study – the biggest of its kind – is warning
that our love affair with sugary food and drink
is doubling our risk of heart related premature death.

I was proud of Gavin today. When informed of the risks, he changed his order from a sugary drink to sugar-free ice tea (an excellent source for antioxidant nutrition). Gavin increased his chances of not dying from heart disease by over 100%.

Parents, please give your child the information needed to avoid unbelievable suffering (sugar feeds cancer and causes numerous other serious health problems, like diabetes) and a premature death. Armed with knowledge, they will choose wisely.

Ignorance is a truly deadly commodity.

We have had a wonderful first week of school. Our trip to Main Event provided fun for everyone and a great end to the week. Students are now planning other adventures and helping to decided where we will go this coming semester.

The Enduring Power of Eternal Love / Destination: Stock Show

“Love is always open arms.
If you close your arms about love
you will find that you are holding only yourself.”

– Leo Buscaglia

A pesticide free environment produces wondrous creations.

In a pesticide free environment we discover wondrous creations. This stunning Moth was waiting patiently for Dr. A on his chair. I am simply stunned by the beauty displayed on the living canvasses of Gods art, found throughout our natural world of wonder.

The Enduring Power of Eternal Love

Have you ever noticed how everything is beautiful when you are in love? Love becomes a lens that focuses the vision of our lives. And I have often wondered if, perhaps, we can only truly see through the eyes of love. If so, the focus of life becomes the human heart.

And, I wonder, if love is all there is to truly see. For without love, we are more than blind, for we can never come to know more than what we can see. And, as strange as it may seem, we can only see ourselves through the loving eyes of another. That person becomes the mirror of our reality. We always see ourselves through eyes of someone else. When we comb our hair and get dressed each morning, we do these things not for ourselves, but for others. We want to look good in the mirror of their minds and in the memory of their hearts.

Have you noticed that when you are truly in love, everything that does not matter becomes blurred. But clearly, the one you love stays focused, even in your dreams. Yes, you can see so clearly that love and life beautifully blend together until, at last, you love life and you find your way home. And, to your surprise, home is not found where you are, but in the heart of another. And what a warm and treasured place to be. Leo Buscaglia says it another way, “If you close your arms about love you will find that you are holding only yourself.” Now there is a lonely place.

The human heart, as fragile as it is, can become the mightiest fortress God can build, to house the most precious treasure on this earth. My friends, let your heart be transformed by the enduring power of the love of God. And, if you look, you can find that love residing in the heart of the next child you meet.

Bailey truly enjoyed skating.

Bailey truly enjoyed skating at Rollerland West.

Yes, God sees through the eyes of every child. And He is looking straight at you and staring into the very depths of your soul. And the rhythm of your heart beats in time with His. And His Heart resides within each one of His Lambs, for we are truly One, and only One.

Yes, there lies buried deep within each of us a treasure far greater than gold – something that transcends all understanding, all reason, all knowledge and all mankind. It is always abiding, enduring, yes, always alive. And it measures time in a mysterious and unique way. Being near to those we love causes time to pass quickly. And being far away, time moves in our aching hearts and in our minds – so slowly. Yes, your heart is the only true measure of time.

Today, research by leading physicists tells us that Dark energy is a mysterious quantity that makes up, along with dark matter, most (if fact, nearly ALL) of the mass of the universe. Two of the biggest mysteries of both string theory and cosmology are the presence of unseen, what is called, dark matter and a form of dark energy. No one, not even one scientist, can define these mysterious forces, which constitutes an astonishing 96% of matter, with recognizable, normal matter being only 4%. This unknown and indefinable matter and energy constitutes almost everything and is all pervasive (much like God is described in religious texts). Our greatest minds have no idea what it is. And I am left wondering if, perhaps, we are at long last now discovering the all encompassing power that is the vast ocean of God’s Eternal Love.

Mary Alice introduces one lucky dog.

Mary Alice introduces one deeply loved and very lucky dog.

In the insightful and beautifully crafted words of Joe Henry and music by John Denver, entwined within the lyrics of, “The Wings That Fly Us Home”, we can find a deep philosophical revelation:

“And the spirit fills the darkness of the heavens
It fills the endless yearning of the soul
It lives within a star too far to dream of
It lives within each part and is the whole
It’s the fire and the wings that fly us home.”

On Friday, January 24, 2014 we will enjoy, weather permitting, the Fort Worth Stock Show at the Will Rogers Center (817- 877-2400) in the cultural district.
