A Wind That Blows Lonely / The Antithesis of Love / Friday: Modern Art Museum

Love is the answer,
and the Prayer.

child-and-mom

Look into the future smiling back.

There’s a wind that blows
lonely
across the barren plains
of our memory.
Soft,
it caresses the face
that refused to turn
into the wind,
toward the ones
so Loved,
to look into
the future
smiling back.
And now,
the past
no longer belongs
to us.

“Yes I knowdon
how lonely life can be.

The shadows follow me
And the night won’t set me free.
But I don’t let the evening
bring me down

Now that you’re around me.

The book of life is brief
And once a page is read
All but love is dead
This is my belief.”
– Don Mclean

Life itself is an answer to Prayer.

God still whispers
into the restless void
of our lonely aching Hearts.

But so very often,
we recognize not
His answers to our Prayers,
simply because
we have never had need to pray
for so very many Blessings in Life
already bestowed
upon us.

No,
we never had need
for such Prayer,
for our needs were met
long before
awareness
needed a reason
to be.

So very many Blessings in Life
we never recognized
were answers
to Prayer,
Prayers we never had the need
to say.

“Therefore I tell you,
do not worry about your life,
what you will eat, or about your body,
what you will wear.
For life is more than food,
and the body more than clothing.
Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap,
they have neither storehouse nor barn,
and yet God feeds them.
Of how much more value are you
than the birds!”
Luke 12:22-24

Such is the Love
of a Mother and a Father
for a deeply Loved
Child.
Such is the Love
of your Father in Heaven
for YOU.

fountain-in-forest

You are an answer to Prayer.

Life itself,
is an answer
to Prayer.

You
are an answer
to Prayer.

Look about you.
There is nothing,
absolutely NOTHING,
that does not answer
some Prayer,
somehow,
somewhere,
at sometime,

by someone.

island-with-tree-b

   Silence has the loudest voice.

Dear Friends,
there is scarcely anyone

who does not desire something
beyond
what is good for them.
So rather than hurt you
when the honesty’s too much,
God answers some Prayer
with the tender syllables
of silence,
until the moment
subsides.

Silence is like a River of Grace
inviting us to leap unafraid
into its beckoning depths.
It is dark and mysterious
in the waters of Grace.
Yet in the silent darkness
we are given new eyes.
In the Heart of the Divine
we can see more clearly who we are.
We are renewed and cleansed
in this
River of Silence.

– MACRINA WIEDERKEHR, Seven Sacred Pauses

Such is Love
in you,
that in the Sacred stillness
and the quiet
of a thoughtful moment,
with Wisdom and Grace,

  you proclaim a silent Love
Divine.

Silence is the only language
of the realized.

“There are times
when silence
has the loudest voice.”
Leroy Brownlow

By simply accepting
what God already provides,
we are made aware
and acknowledge
Prayer
never offered,
never needed,
but answered
just the same.

My Dear Friends,
Love

is the answer,
and
the Prayer.

“In the darkness of my dreaming,
the Light of you will stay.
If I could be close beside you,

If I could be where you are,
If I could reach out and touch you,
and bring you back home.
Is there a way I can find you
Is there a sign I should know,
Is there a road I could follow,
to bring you back home
to me.”
– Roma Ryan

So very often
we find ourselves
in the midst
of the greatest Answer
to the most fervent Prayer:
that we are
deeply
Loved.

Welcome Home.

With a deep seated Love of Courage to map the unknown.

The Antithesis of
Love

My Precious Friends,
Addiction
is the antithesis
of Love.
It can become
the destroyer of Worlds –
of your World,
and sadly,
that of your child.

Little understood,
like Cancer,
it devours the very substance
of the Life
we pretend goes on.
The fabric of our existence
feeds our addictions.
And the bacterial excrement of
Alcohol,
like cancer, can devour
and permanently change
the very structure
of the Human brain,
and more importantly,
the Hopes and Dreams,
of our precious Children.

brain

Alcohol, like cancer, can devour and permanently change the very structure of the Human brain.

People who have been drinking
large amounts of alcohol
for long periods of time
develop serious and persistent
changes IN THE BRAIN.

It is
much like an enemy in battle,
sneaking behind the lines
to disarm the troops
before they can engage
in combat,
while front line soldiers
stare straight ahead,
totally unaware,
wondering what is going on,
and why we cannot attack
and win.

Our ignorance,
our blind arrogance,
our naivety,
disarm us
and we never know
how!

“Sometimes we know,
sometimes we don’t.

Sometimes we give,
sometimes we won’t.

Sometimes we’re strong,
sometimes we’re wrong.

Sometimes we cry.

Well,
we’re gonna have to sit down
and think it right through.
If we’re only Human
what more can we do?
– Van Morrison

Our other addictions –
to linear thinking –
becoming too focused to get
the BIG picture,

to compressing time,
to the allure of complexity and dependency
upon technology,
to drugs we know
virtually nothing about,
have shrunk the number of outlets
for the daring, aggressive nature
of mankind,
that fought the good fight,
with a deep seated
Love of Courage
to map the unknown
and go
where mankind
has never gone
before.

This saddens,
but doesn’t surprise.
The Heroes
of our proud Past,
the Soldiers of our good fortune,
no longer are
of the same branch,
on the same tree,
or even
in the same forest.

The courage
to Love one another
enough to fight
the good fight,
to vanquish
the enemy within,
we cannot accept,
because
we cannot even recognize
that it is us.

“We shall meet the enemy,
and not only may he be ours,
he may be us.”
– Walter C. Kelly, Jr.

But when Life
breaks you,
and brings you
to your knees,
know that God will hear you
through your fervent Prayer,
and hold you
in warm embrace.

and Eternity through the present,
we would know true Love.”

Love
can command you,
it can rule over
your precious Heart

or
you can let it
pass you by.

But please remember:

Everything
outside of Love
is a lie.

Do not be trapped
within a prison
of doubt.
The Loving You
is no illusion.

The Honesty of your Love
is the only
Truth.

And ye shall know the truth,
and the truth shall make you
free.

Spanning the worlds of graffiti, pop art, and consumer culture, KAWS’s bodies of work are highly charged, each conveying his underlying wit, irreverence, and affection for our times, as well as his agility as an artist. He has primarily looked to and appropriated from pop-culture animations (including The Smurfs, The Simpsons, SpongeBob, Hanna-Barbera, and Peanuts) to form his artistic vocabulary for his paintings, drawings, and sculptures. Now well known for his larger-than-life sculptures and hard-edge paintings that emphasize line and color, KAWS’s cast of hybrid cartoon/human characters, with similarities to popular cartoon figures and logos like Mickey Mouse and the Michelin Man, are perhaps the strongest examples of his exploration of humanity.

The Modern maintains one of the foremost collections of modern and contemporary art in the United States.

reflection

Somewhere
across the horizon
of what is,
lies the greatest Love
ever to be.

The Human Heart dreams.
It is
the rhythm of Life,
the seeker of Truth,
the inner Eye
longing to see,
asking why am I here,
what does it mean,
to be?

And between the fragile beats,
it pours its essence
into everyone around,
creating a ripple in creation,
tearing time,
unknowing, unaware
it is free
to answer the question:
“Where, Oh where, is
Love?”

                      Tranquility

“In searching for the way to go,
I’ve followed all the rules.

The way they say to choose between
the wise men and the fools.

I listen to the words they say.
I read what I should read.

I do whatever’s right to do,
try to be what I should be.

Someone let me in,
I think the sky is falling,
seems I’ve gotten lost on my way.

All I want to do is try and find myself,
come and let me look in your eyes.”
– John Denver

night scene b

The Love of God transformed into everything we see.

The powerful Love
a Parent feels for a Child,
the goodness lying
buried deep within the Heart,
is the greatest force
on Earth.

Such Love
is always in motion,
manifesting itself
in the moments
that make the Heart
warm and inviting
to the next moment
in time.

It is really the Love of God
transformed
into everything we do and see:
the Universe in a teardrop,
Life
at the end of a Rainbow,
a drop of dew
you finally pause long enough
to see,
like the Love of God
in you
and me.

pale white lily

             To truly live again.

Tranquility,
empties into an ever ebbing Ocean
of time
from the gently flowing
Rivers of Life.
You
are adrift in the Ocean
into which a child’s tears
of Joy or pain,
flow unending.

In the chaos
that surrounds such a fragile,
precious Being,
unable to resolve
every elemental prerogative
essential for Life to be,
remember
a Child’s Sacredness
can become a part
of the Beautiful Consciousness
formed at birth,
and still in such felt need.

                     a Symphony

Tranquility
is the healer,
effortlessly removing the illusions
of Life and living,
sustaining the essential Freedoms
to think,
to act,
to Love,
to be.

In the passage of time,
Hearts are held captive
by the emotions of memory.
They become islands
so lonely,
now you
and me.

“I guess they understand
How lonely life has been
But life began again
The day you took my hand

And yes, I know how lonely life can be
The shadows follow me ‘n’ the night won’t set me free
But I don’t let the evening get me down
Now that you’re around me.”
–  Don McLean

     A calm, tranquil movement.

My Friends,
whenever
troubles come along,
pass over them like a River
gently flowing over hardened stones,
to be smoothed
by the caress of time
and the sea.
Keep the waters of your mind
moving and nurturing
Love.

Forgiveness will form
the swift current of restoration
to smooth the hard surface
of every stone
thrown at you
by the hand of man.

The Love of God
is a calm, tranquil movement,
as Life
flows into His
Eternal Sea.

Yes,
you can be healed
by the Tranquil Grace of God
you allow to flow
over your Life
and into your Heart,
as you become one
with all
that you feel and see.

rainbow c

      to become a Rainbow.

The reflection of a Child’s eyes
in yours,
causes both to lean out
for Love.
Suddenly,
what was in the mind
with such worry and pain,
disappears.

No amount of Light
can return you
to the original vibrant Colors of Being,
except the Light
of Love.

To rediscover
all the Love that dwells within,
is to become a Rainbow
at the Cosmic center
of God’s design
for your Life.
It is to be
the most visible
Star in the Galaxy
of our Belief.

Only the Love of God
enables us to see
through ourselves,
to discover
how valuable our Love is,
that it is
all there ever was,
and all
that will ever be.

forest b

What was in the mind with such worry and pain, disappears.

Whenever you step into
the stream of Life,
you
and the water around you,
are never the same.
It can revive and replenish,
or drown the tender reed.

In this River
can you also be Baptized,
reborn,

alive
to truly live again.

blue flowers

                    Tranquility

My Dear Friends,
we try so hard

not to see
all the things in Life
that we see –
What is never really
you or me.
What is,
may cast shadows
of disbelief,
or simply
may not be.

The thunder in the mountains,
the roar of the sea,
can never be heard
above the sounds
of laughter
in the Joy of a Child
at play,
above the tender voice
that says
you Love me
today.

The Conscious breathing
of our Universe
creates a Symphony,
as we gratefully receive Life
like a Gift,
and give it
like a Present.

Christmas
really should be
everyday.

flower purple

A Garden of our Love will be.

The vines of our Love
blossom and surround and slowly erode away
moments in time
we waste in deep regret
and become
the last reflections of
what we found
beautiful in Life.

With Love,
few are the frailties
left to support decaying
and crumbling structures
of the mind
now lost in the illusions
of Life and living.

And when our lives
are completely gone,
and all vestiges of pretense
have faded away,
a Garden of our Love
will be
left in its place –
a continuous restoration
of Spirit and Being,
that will never end.

clock b

Creating a ripple in creation, tearing time.

Love
never dies.

As eternity rampages the destiny
of our deep seated illusory desires,
what we envision
through the lens of our Love,
will make yesterday refuse
to remember today.

God’s Light always shines
from the reflection
of Joy
in your eyes.

Goodnight.

What does it mean, to be?

Two vegetables that you should avoid
if you have diabetes or high blood sugar:

Peas and Corn.

A Journal of Clinical Nutrition study
found that both these vegetables
contain so many starchy carbs and sugars
that they’re almost as bad as sugary juices and sodas
for your blood sugar.

Spices to add to your food
that help reverse Type 2 Diabetes:

Sage, cinnamon, oregano, marjoram, and garlic.

“Someone’s lost the plan
for the brotherhood of man,
and no one’s trying to find it anymore.
And the winds become a sigh
for those who hate and those who die.
And the waves are black and slow along the shore.

And will the grass be gone from underneath the sky?
Will the golden flower wither soon and die?
Will the fire burn out the land
And the sea fill-up with sand?
Will the last word ever spoken be
why?”

clouds 1

When you are young and in need of Love,
The time you spend with someone who cares,
Who Loves you,
Who makes you feel
That you have worth and dignity,
That you are cherished above all things
In Heaven and on Earth,
That life can be vibrant and alive
With Love,
Is of more value
Than life itself.

Today, in this our time,
The self-esteem of many children
Is dangerously below the horizon
Of what they can see for tomorrow.
It is so low,
That wherever some children may go,
The direction of their life
Simply does not matter.
You may think that is an embroidery
Of what is truth,
But, my friends, it is not.

Look around you.
Drug and alcohol addiction and suicide rates
Are unbelievably high
And climbing.

sky 1

All the time a child is left feeling all alone, a human Heart cries.

Our children do not need to tell you
They need Love.
In the felt absence of those
Who have already abandoned all hope
And taken their own lives,
Their silence has stoned us.
For nothing is as deafening
As the destruction
Of a precious Human Heart
That beats within.

Your death may,
One day,
Be found in your child’s heart.
For Love lives where it may.

And if not in your eyes,
If not in your heart,
Love will find a home
Very, very deep
Within the recesses of a mind
Left terribly all alone,
Buried in the soil of your
Last Goodbye.

Yes, my friends,
Love will live, somewhere, anywhere,
Even in a hell on earth,
Until it finally dies.

All the time a child
Is left feeling all alone,
A human heart cries.
And with the last drop
Of the very last tear,
My friends,
It dies.

  I think of
Don Mclean’s beautiful
And prophetic song,
And I Love You So,
It speaks to all of us
And reminds us
How Loveless
Life can be.

CEMETARY PHOTO

Nothing is as deafening as the destruction of a precious Human Heart

  “People ask me how,
How I lived till now.

I tell them I don’t know.
I guess they understand
How lonely life has been.

Yes, I know how lonely life can be.
The shadows follow me
And the night won’t set me free.”

As a child searches for any meaning in this life,
For any reason to continue,
The smallest kindness
Is reflected in every thought,
Remembering every act
Of caring and compassion.

And so,
Don’s haunting and philosophical
Song of Life concludes:

“And you love me too
Your thoughts are just for me
You set my spirit free
I’m happy that you do
The book of life is brief
And once a page is read
All but love is dead.”

Children are, my friends,
In a very real way,
Desperate for Love.

sky 2

You may never fully realize
What the warmth of your smile,
Your act of caring and compassion
Means to a child Desperate for Love.

But such love as possesses
The deep yearning of the young,
Now, and forever,
Can sparkle through the darkening recesses
Of the mind and the heart,
As the past unfolds
Into the hopes and dreams
Of tomorrow.

The light of our lives
Can dance upon the waters,
With beauty beyond what you can behold.
Such is the love our lives can bestow,
That nevermore can we be made blind.
In such love,
God breathes Everlasting Life,
Which shall not be sacrificed
Upon the altar of time.

The smallest kindness Is reflected in every thought.

As songwriter and singer
John Denver
So beautifully and poetically
Shared with us in
Looking for Space“:

“On the road of experience
trying to find my own way
,
Sometimes I wish that I could fly away.
When I think that I’m moving
then suddenly things stand still
,
I’m afraid because I think they always will.

And I’m looking for space
and to find out who I am

And I’m looking to know and understand.
Its a sweet, sweet dream,
sometimes I’m almost there

Sometimes I fly like an eagle,
sometimes I’m deep in
despair.

All alone in the universe,
sometimes that’s how it seems

I get lost in the sadness and the screams.”
