Love is Just a Dream / Vitamins to Protect Against Cancer / Thursday and Friday: No School (Texas A.G.T. Conference)

pink-and-red-flowers

Life lived simply, is simply Beautiful.

Love is just a Dream
by another name.
What the Heart feigns
to be something other,
remains the same.

Narrow streets
have we wandered down,
seldom looking up
to see the Pure Light
of Love,
the Light
of God’s Love
glowing in the dark.
And in our memory,
His Love,
is streaming from
Heaven Above.

God gives sight to those
blinded by the night
of never knowing
they are so deeply
Loved.
All we need do
is ask.

“And all things,
whatsoever you shall
ask in Prayer,

believing,
you shall receive.”
Matthew 21:22

See the Pure Light of Love.

God
is the Hope
of the hopeless.
He alone provides direction
to those so lost
in the twisted canyons of the
mind,
swallowed up in doubt,
buried deep in
depression.

If Life
has fastened your Heart
to a stone,
there is news
My Friend,
in which
you can take delight.

“I’ve looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It’s life’s illusions I recall.
I really don’t know Life
at all.”

Joni Mitchell

My Dear Friends,
the simple things
in Life
will unfetter you,
set your weary mind and heavy Heart
free.

tree-and-birds

The simple things in Life are the most extraordinary.

Wisdom
is in the wind,
whistling through the
trees,
faint and simple sounds
birthed in memories:
a long stroll in the park
walking hand in hand
with someone you deeply Love,
dinner
that sparkled
by the light of a single
candle that flickered
in the dark of night,
a laughter filled
Heart,
an evening
with no ending
and no start,
a beautiful smile
that still glows
in the dark,
and parting
with such sweet sorrow
and a very kind
remark.

Life lived simply,
is simply Beautiful.

“I saw a beggar cohen-d
he was leaning on his wooden crutch,
he said to me,
“You must not ask for so much.”
– Leonard Cohen
Rest in Peace my friend

To dream our lives
away,
leave the seeds
sown to harvest,
thrown on fields
across which we strode
in our ignorance
and our arrogance.

They were planted in
the fertile fields
of your Sacred Heart
by your family
and your friends.

“Those that were sown
on the good soil
are the ones who hear the Word
and accept it
and bear fruit,
thirtyfold and sixtyfold
and a hundredfold.”

Mark 4:20

Your Heart,
My Friend,

is the ground
upon which
you walk.

Ripples

was in the Sky.
And it whispered to me:
“Love
is always

By: Michelle Schoffro Cook

The best way to beat cancer naturally is to adopt a lifestyle to prevent it. Healthy, nutrient-rich food is an essential part of any anti-cancer plan.  Here are the top 5 vitamins that help protect against cancer.

1. Beta carotene
This precursor of Vitamin A is found in most orange and green vegetables such as carrots, sweet potatoes, spinach, kale, and other leafy green vegetables.  An amazing nutrient, it has been shown in research to protect the lungs against toxins that are linked to lung cancer.

A study found that ex-smokers who ate green and yellow vegetables high in beta carotene daily decreased their risk of stomach and lung cancer.

 2. Vitamin B6

This B-Vitamin is essential to maintain a healthy immune system and helps protect the respiratory tract from pollution and infection.  In studies it has helped protect against cervical cancer.  Vitamin B-6 is primarily found in carrots, apples, organ meats, bananas, leafy green vegetables, and sweet potatoes.

3.  Vitamin C
One of the most well-researched nutrients, Vitamin C has shown great promise in the fight against cancer, both in prevention and disease-management.  A recent study was conducted in which forty patients with cancer of the breast, ovary, uterus, or cervix received large doses of ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) and other vitamins.

Another sixty-one patients with other kinds of cancer followed the same regime, while thirty-one patients received no vitamin supplements and served as the control group.  The control group lived an average of 5.7 months. Of the others, 80 percent of the patients with cancer of the breast, ovary, uterus, or cervix had a mean survival time of 122 months; patients with other forms of cancer lived an average of 72 months.  That translates into a length of life 13 to 21 times longer in those who used vitamin therapy.

4. Folic Acid
In studies, folic acid, also known as folate or vitamin B9, helps protect against cervical cancer and is necessary for the proper formation of the body’s own genetic material – DNA and RNA.  It is found in beets, cabbage, dark green leafy vegetables, eggs, citrus fruits, and most types of fish.

5. Vitamin E
In addition to protecting against bowel cancer, Vitamin E works as a powerful antioxidant that reduces the damage caused by ozone and pollutants on the cells. It is found in eggs, wheat germ, liver, unrefined vegetable oils, and dark green vegetables.

Foods That Help Fight Depression
read more from WebMD.com

Turkey

The traditional Thanksgiving bird has the protein building-block tryptophan, which your body uses to make serotonin. That’s a brain chemical that plays a key role in depression, researchers say. In fact, some antidepressant drugs work by targeting the way your brain uses serotonin. You can get the same mood-boosting effect from chicken and soybeans.

Brazil Nuts

This snack is rich in selenium, which helps protect your body from tiny, damaging particles called free radicals. One study found that young people who didn’t have enough of this nutrient in their diets were more likely to be depressed. The researchers couldn’t say that low selenium caused depression, though. Just one Brazil nut has almost half your daily requirement of the mineral so be careful to limit how many you eat. Other foods with this mineral include brown rice, lean beef, sunflower seeds, and seafood.

Carrots

They’re full of beta-carotene, which you can also get from pumpkin, spinach, sweet potatoes, and cantaloupe. Studies have linked this nutrient to lower levels of depression. There’s not enough evidence to say that it can prevent the disorder, but it can’t hurt to get more in your diet.

Clams and Mussels

These seafood favorites are a good source of B-12. Some studies say that people with low levels of the vitamin are more likely to have depression. It may be that a lack of it causes a shortage of a substance called s-adenosylmethionine (SAM), which your brain needs to process other chemicals that affect your mood. If you’re looking for other B-12 foods, try lean beef, milk, and eggs.

Coffee

A jolt of caffeine can be a pick-me-up that helps you feel more motivated. But if you have postpartum depression or panic disorder, some studies suggest that it might make your symptoms worse. Other researchers say a cup of joe can lower your risk of getting depression, though they’re not sure why.

Leafy Greens

They’re packed with folate, which your brain cells need to work well and which may help protect against depression. Food manufacturers in the U.S. add this vitamin, also known as B9, to enriched grains like pasta and rice. You can also get it from lentils, lima beans, and asparagus.

Salmon

This and other fish like herring and tuna are high in polyunsaturated fats. Researchers think those can help you fight depression. One type of these fats, called omega-3 fatty acids, may help brain cells use chemicals that can affect your mood. A few small studies show that people who weren’t depressed had higher levels of omega-3s than those with the mood disorder.

Milk

It’s a good source of vitamin D. If you have very low levels of this nutrient in your body, that can sometimes cause depression. One Norwegian study found that people who took a vitamin D supplement were less depressed a year later than those who didn’t. Don’t like milk? Boost the D in your diet with enriched cereals and juices, and canned fish.

Caution: Junk Food

It may be fast and filling, but these processed foods can be bad news for your mood. Scientists have studied how diets high in sugar, simple carbohydrates, and fatty foods affect how you feel. Many found some link between these unhealthy eats and depression. Your best bet: a well-balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein.

Caution: Alcohol

Heavy drinking can make depression symptoms worse over time, because alcohol makes your brain less active. It also can make antidepressant medications less effective.

Unstoppable and powerful movement

We are all aware
of near death experiences.
But,
there are other awakenings
that are, perhaps,
similar,
or maybe, the same.

These all too rare moments
come when we glimpse
what it is like
to be fully alive,
totally aware
of Life
and what it is offering.

Sometimes the door to Life
is opened
because death or near death
makes us aware
of just how precious this Life is.

Glimpse what it is like to be fully alive.

These experiences
may be viewed
not just as out of body
or out of mind.
They can be realized
as moving from being unmindful
to clarity of thought,
from hesitation of action
to unstoppable and powerful movement
forward in Life.

This takes place
when TWO Hearts merge,
when two minds meet
and refuse to part,
when two moments collide,
and the momentum of each
propels BOTH forward
at a speed equal to more
than two individuals
could ever contemplate.

In perhaps,Harry

of Life’s dependence
upon Love,
“Without You”
Harry Nilsson,

I can’t give anymore.”

In reading the lines
of these insightful words,
we see the Infinity of Human Love,
that it is more than

One Heart and one Heart
is far more
than two.
Love is

Cancer supplements, herbs, vitamins,  plant extracts with potential anti cancer activity:

There are countless herbs that have been found to have anti-tumor activity in laboratory studies. Whether these herbs and dietary supplement have a role to play in cancer treatment or prevention in humans is not clear at this time. Even if they do, the appropriate dosage and best way to use them is not well known.

However, if your doctor approves, you could try some of these herbal and nutritional supplements.

There are numerous reports of cancer preventive activity of dietary botanicals, including cruciferous vegetables such as cabbage and broccoli, allium vegetables such as garlic and onion, green tea, citrus fruits, soybeans, berries, and ginger, as well as medicinal plants. Several compounds, such as genistein (from soybeans), lycopene (from tomatoes), brassinin (from cruciferous vegetables), sulforaphane (from asparagus), indole-3-carbinol (from broccoli), and resveratrol (from grapes) are being tested.

Berries and berry extracts such as acai, black or red raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, noni, and wolfberry have numerous anticancer compounds. Be sure they are ORGANIC to avoid the pesticides.

Broccoli vegetable and broccoli sprout extract are excellent options.

Curcumin may help fight breast, colon, and prostate cancer. Researchers have found in the lab that curcumin can enhance the cancer-fighting power of treatment with TRAIL, a naturally occurring molecule that helps kill cancer cells. TRAIL stands for tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand. In an experiment with human prostate cancer cells in a laboratory dish, the combination treatment killed off two to three times more cells than either treatment alone. Curcumin exerts multiple different suppressive effects on human breast carcinoma cells in vitro.

Carotenoids show a prominent role in decreasing the incidence of various cancers.

Vitamin D has an important role to play in prevention. Cancer rates are different at different latitudes of the globe. Rates of breast, colon and ovarian cancer are lower in sunnier regions of the world than in Northern climates where cold winters limit people’s sun exposure. Sunlight triggers the synthesis of vitamin D in the skin, and people who get little sun exposure tend to have lower stores of the vitamin. More than three-fourths of people with a variety of cancers have low levels of vitamin D, and the lowest levels are associated with more advanced cancers

Green Tea has polyphenolic compounds such as EGCG that are protective against various forms of cancer.

Graviola fruit, also known as soursop, grows in the Amazon jungle and some of the Caribbean islands. See graviola cancer latest research, a web site that is updated regularly.

AHCC – Active Hexose-correlated Compound – is a mushroom extract that has been tested as an immune enhancing, liver protective and anti-cancer agent.

Ashwagandha has many compounds that have been found to have activity against lung, colon, breast, and central nervous system tumors.

Calcium D Glucarate is a natural supplement.

Cat’s Claw extracts exert a direct anti-proliferative activity on MCF7 breast cancer cell lines. Cats-Claw supplements can improve quality of life in those with advanced tumors.

DIM-Diindolylmethane supplement is another good option. See current research on this supplement at diindolemethane dim web site with the latest studies.

Indole 3 Carbinol is available as a supplement. See Indole3Carbinol I3C  for more information.

Mangosteen has powerful xanthones. As of 2011, I am not aware of human studies with mangosteen in the prevention or treatment of cancer.

Milk thistle contains silymarin and other flavonoids that have been found to have anti-tumor action in bladder and prostate cancer cells.

Noni fruit juice contains a polysaccharide-rich substance called Noni-ppt with anti-tumor activity.

Reishi mushroom water soluble extracts inhibit colon tumors in mice. Reishi may be helpful in advanced-stage cancers and has shown activity against prostate cancer cells.

Agaricus mushroom has been studied as a mushroom extract cancer treatment.

Resveratrol shows promise in neuroblastoma and breast cancer.
Integr Cancer Therapy. Efficacy of Antioxidants as a Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) in Combination With the Chemotherapeutic Agent Doxorubicin. Resveratrol and curcumin have the potential to be clinically applied to prevent cardiac toxicity and hand-foot syndrome and enhance the anticancer efficiency of Doxorubicin.

Maitake mushroom is often used in Japan

Calcium mineral has been associated with a lower risk of colon cancer, so has vitamin D.

IP-6, Inositol hexaphosphate, is a naturally polyphosphorylated carbohydrate found in beans, brown rice, corn, sesame seeds, wheat bran, and other high fiber foods. IP-6 has been reported to have in vivo and in vitro anticancer activity against numerous tumors, such as colon, prostate, breast, liver, chronic myeloid leukemia, and rhabdomyosarcomas. Significant human trials are lacking and hence we do not currently know whether taking IP-6 supplements is helpful in cancer prevention or therapy.

Melatonin, a pineal hormone, is a potent antioxidant and has been shown to inhibit estrogen-responsive human breast cancer cells and augment the effectiveness of tamoxifen.

Supplements that may be helpful for those on chemotherapy:
Carnitine improves fatigue in those who are undergoing chemotherapy.
Glutamine supplementation can lessen loss of protein in the muscle and protect immune and gut-barrier function during radio-chemotherapy in patients with advanced cancer. Glutamine supplement may also be helpful for mucositis induced by cancer treatment.
SAM-e may have a protective effect in cancer chemotherapy-induced liver toxicity, do not use more than 100 mg a day.

CoQ10
Improved survival in patients with end-stage cancer treated with coenzyme Q10 and other antioxidants: a pilot study.J Int Med Res.
This pilot study evaluated the survival of patients with end-stage cancer who received supplements of coenzyme Q10 and a mixture of other antioxidants (e.g. vitamin C, selenium, folic acid and beta-carotene). During a period of 9 years, 41 patients who had end-stage cancer were included. Primary cancers were located in the breast, brain, lungs, kidneys, pancreas, esophagus, stomach, colon, prostate, ovaries and skin. The median actual survival was 40% longer than the median predicted survival.

Additional Herbs and compounds:
Celery seed extract
D Glucarate supplement
Indole-3-carbinol supplement
Mistletoe herb
Morinda citrifolia extract
Sulforaphane, found in broccoli and Brussels sprouts, slows the growth of human breast cancer cells in the lab. It disrupts the action of protein ‘microtubules’ within the cells, which are vital for the success of cell division. It also has effects on detoxification enzymes that can defend against cancer-promoting substances.
