An Effortless Way
to Improve Your Memory
A surprisingly potent technique can boost your short and long-term recall – and it appears to help everyone from students to Alzheimer’s patients.

This story is featured in BBC Future’s “Best of 2018” collection.
Discover more of our picks.

When trying to memorize new material, it’s easy to assume that the more work you put in, the better you will perform. Yet taking the occasional down time – to do literally nothing – may be exactly what you need. Just dim the lights, sit back, and enjoy 10-15 minutes of quiet contemplation, and you’ll find that your memory of the facts you have just learnt is far better than if you had attempted to use that moment more productively.

Although it’s already well known that we should pace our studies, new research suggests that we should aim for “minimal interference” during these breaks – deliberately avoiding any activity that could tamper with the delicate task of memory formation. So no running errands, checking your emails, or surfing the web on your smartphone. You really need to give your brain the chance for a complete recharge with no distractions.

An excuse to do nothing may seem like a perfect mnemonic technique for the lazy student, but this discovery may also offer some relief for people with amnesia and some forms of dementia, suggesting new ways to release a latent, previously unrecognized, capacity to learn and remember.

A simple technique could boost our short and long-term memory.

The remarkable memory-boosting benefits of undisturbed rest were first documented in 1900 by the German psychologist Georg Elias Muller and his student Alfons Pilzecker. In one of their many experiments on memory consolidation, Muller and Pilzecker first asked their participants to learn a list of meaningless syllables. Following a short study period, half the group were immediately given a second list to learn – while the rest were given a six-minute break before continuing.

When tested one-and-a-half-hours later, the two groups showed strikingly different patterns of recall. The participants given the break remembered nearly 50% of their list, compared to an average of 28% for the group who had been given no time to recharge their mental batteries. The finding suggested that our memory for new information is especially fragile just after it has first been encoded, making it more susceptible to interference from new information.

Although a handful of other psychologists occasionally returned to the finding, it was only in the early 2000s that the broader implications of it started to become known, with a pioneering study by Sergio Della Sala at the University of Edinburgh and Nelson Cowan at the University of Missouri.

We could all do with fewer distractions in our lives.

The team was interested in discovering whether reduced interference might improve the memories of people who had suffered a neurological injury, such as a stroke. Using a similar set-up to Muller and Pilzecker’s original study, they presented their participants with lists of 15 words and tested them 10 minutes later. In some trials, the participants remained busy with some standard cognitive tests; in others, they were asked to lie in a darkened room and avoid falling asleep.

It seems to benefit young and old people alike

The impact of the small intervention was more profound than anyone might have believed. Although the two most severely amnesic patients showed no benefit, the others tripled the number of words they could remember – from 14% to 49%, placing them almost within the range of healthy people with no neurological damage.

The next results were even more impressive. The participants were asked to listen to some stories and answer questions an hour later. Without the chance to rest, they could recall just 7% of the facts in the story; with the rest, this jumped to 79% – an astronomical 11-fold increase in the information they retained.

The researchers also found a similar, though less pronounced, benefit for healthy participants in each case, boosting recall between 10 and 30%.

Della Sala and Cowan’s former student, Michaela Dewar at Heriot-Watt University, has now led several follow-up studies, replicating the finding in many different contexts. In healthy participants, they have found that these short periods of rest can also improve our spatial memories, for instance – helping participants to recall the location of different landmarks in a virtual reality environment. Crucially, this advantage lingers a week after the original learning task, and it seems to benefit young and old people alike. And besides the stroke survivors, they have also found similar benefits for people in the earlier, milder stages of Alzheimer’s disease.

Our memory for new information is especially fragile just after it has been encoded.

In each case, the researchers simply asked the participants to sit in a dim, quiet room, without their mobile phones or similar distractions. “We don’t give them any specific instructions with regards to what they should or shouldn’t do while resting,” Dewar says. “But questionnaires completed at the end of our experiments suggest that most people simply let their minds wander.”

Even then, we should be careful not to exert ourselves too hard as we daydream. In one study, for instance, participants were asked to imagine a past or future event during their break, which appeared to reduce their later recall of the newly learnt material. So it may be safest to avoid any concerted mental effort during our down time.

The exact mechanism is still unknown, though some clues come from a growing understanding of memory formation. It is now well accepted that once memories are initially encoded, they pass through a period of consolidation that cements them in long-term storage. This was once thought to happen primarily during sleep, with heightened communication between the hippocampus – where memories are first formed – and the cortex, a process that may build and strengthen the new neural connections that are necessary for later recall.

The brain might use downtime to cement what it has recently learnt.

This heightened nocturnal activity may be the reason that we often learn things better just before bed. But in line with Dewar’s work, a 2010 study by Lila Davachi at New York University, found that it was not limited to sleep, and similar neural activity occurs during periods of wakeful rest, too. In the study, participants were first asked to memorise pairs of pictures – matching a face to an object or scene – and then allowed to lie back and let their minds wander for a short period. Sure enough, she found increased communication between the hippocampus and areas of the visual cortex during their rest. Crucially, people who showed a greater increase in connectivity between these areas were the ones who remembered more of the task, she says.

Perhaps the brain takes any potential down time to cement what it has recently learnt – and reducing extra stimulation at this time may ease that process. It would seem that neurological damage may render the brain especially vulnerable to that interference after learning a new memory, which is why the period of rest proved to be particularly potent for stroke survivors and people with Alzheimer’s disease.

Other psychologists are excited about the research. “The effect is quite consistent across studies now in a range of experiments and memory tasks,” says Aidan Horner at the University of York. “It’s fascinating.” Horner agrees that it could potentially offer new ways to help individuals with impairments to function.

Scheduling regular periods of rest could help us all hold onto new memories.

Practically speaking, he points out that it may be difficult to schedule enough periods of rest to increase their overall daily recall. But he thinks it could still be valuable to help a patient learn important new information – such as learning the name and face of a new carer. “Perhaps a short period of wakeful rest after that would increase the chances that they would remember that person, and therefore feel more comfortable with them later on.” Dewar tells me that she is aware of one patient who seems to have benefitted from using a short rest to learn the name of their grandchild, though she emphasises that it is only anecdotal evidence.

Thomas Baguley at Nottingham Trent University in the UK is also cautiously optimistic. He points out that some Alzheimer’s patients are already advised to engage in mindfulness techniques to alleviate stress and improve overall well-being. “Some [of these] interventions may also promote wakeful rest and it is worth exploring whether they work in part because of reducing interference,” he says, though it may be difficult to implement in people with severe dementia, he says.

Beyond the clinical benefits for these patients, Baguley and Horner both agree that scheduling regular periods of rest, without distraction, could help us all hold onto new material a little more firmly. After all, for many students, the 10-30% improvements recorded in these studies could mark the difference between a grade or two. “I can imagine you could embed these 10-15 minute breaks within a revision period,” says Horner, “and that might be a useful way of making small improvements to your ability to remember later on.”

In the age of information overload, it’s worth remembering that our smartphones aren’t the only thing that needs a regular recharge. Our minds clearly do too.

To Make The Meaning of Life Come True / Significant Scientific Discoveries / Friday: Fossil Mania in Glenrose

To make the meaning of Life
come true,
open your mind
and your precious Heart,
to receive
the Love you
give.
Radiate the Love
you truly feel.
Open your Heart,
to the Loving energy
coming back to you,
in so very many
ways.

“He who abides in Love
abides in God,
and God in him.”
– 1 John 4:16

There is Love
all around:
in every Leaf
that falls
from every Tree,
in every Ray of Sunlight
that falls every day,
in every drop of Rain
that falls from skies above,
and in every Prayer
you Pray.

Your place on
Earth,
is a Sacred Space.

Happiness
comes from
Living the Truth.
And
Truth
dwells in the center
of your very Human Heart,
in your Love
and Compassion
for Yourself,
and every other
precious Living Being.

Miracles
far beyond our greatest
imaginings,
abound
in everything
God
has Created.

            In every Ray of Sunlight.

My Dear Friend,
negative thoughts
are beneath the
Dignity
of our Sacred Existence.

Physicists have discovered
that the entire Universe
is pure energy,
and nothing is solid.

“Concerning matter,
we have been all wrong.
What we have called matter is energy,
whose vibration has been so lowered
as to be perceptible to the senses.
There is no matter.”

Albert Einstein

Our True Nature is pure energy,
which is consciousness.
.

As Children of God
we are incarnated into this level of Reality.
But with our very limited senses,
we are in sufferance of physical illusions
and identify with material forms.
We are removed from awareness
of our Original Nature.

To experience our Ultimate Truth,
follow the advice
found in the Holy Word of God,
and look within yourself.

“Once you have gained knowledge
and start to experience the Truth
contained in the cosmic cycles of Time,
you can start to influence and change the Quantum field
with awareness and conscious observation.
You become aware of the Laws of Creation,
aware that you are the Creator of your experience
and you choose your destiny.”

over the World around you,
but full control over the World
within you.”

The Kingdom of God,
the place where God resides,
is Truly within you.
Yes,
God is within.
Anyone who has ever seriously
meditated,
knows that when you go deep enough within yourself,
you discover
Infinite Universal Consciousness.

Yes,
you can become aware of yourself
as an Infinite and Eternal
Spiritual Entity,
a Child of God.
The more your awareness expands,
the more you live with an alertness
that stems from Love.
Throughout History
many, many people
have become aware.

With the Vibrations of Love,
we are resonating with the highest energy of Creation,
that of Universal, Infinite Consciousness.
With feelings of Love,
we align with that energy
and channel it through us
and expand and become that energy.

Everything, all matter, in our Universe vibrates.
Nothing is still.
Vibration rates are “frequencies”.
And Human thought is a very high form of vibration
and is incomprehensible to our Human mind.

Within
the center of your
Sacred Being,
is the uplifting Power
of God.

“The Kingdom of God
is within you.”
Luke 17:21

His Love
resides within
YOU.
His Love
can become you.

Lead with your Heart
always,
and you will know God.

Goodnight.

Significant Scientific Discoveries

The year 2017 catapulted us into a science-fiction future, from human cell regeneration for growing organs, to banishing genetic disease through breakthrough gene-editing techniques and recycling orbital rockets.  A lot has happened; scientific breakthroughs have made our lives safer, easier and more enjoyable. And the scientific community is only getting started.

Researchers and scientists around the globe have worked tirelessly to bring us this future, so it’s worthwhile to take a step back and applaud their tremendous efforts. The world of tomorrow is being shaped as you read this, so let’s have a look at ten of the biggest stories in science of this year, so far.

Scientists Have Finally Created Metallic Hydrogen

For the first time in the wold, scientists created metallic hydrogen by applying almost five million atmospheres of pressure to liquid hydrogen. That’s about five million times the pressure we experience at sea level, and 4,500 times that at the bottom of the ocean. It is the first time a state of hydrogen has existed in a metallic state on Earth. In its metallic state, hydrogen could act as a genuine superconductor and could revolutionize everything from energy storage to rocketry.

Scientists at the European Organization for Astronomical Research (ESO) found the best candidate for extraterrestrial life so far. The super-Earth named LHS 1140b was found in the habitable zone of a dim star 40 light-years away from Earth. It receives about half as much sunlight from its star, LHS 1140, as the Earth does from the Sun.

“This is the most exciting exoplanet I’ve seen in the past decade,” author Jason Dittmann of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics said in an ESO press release. “We could hardly hope for a better target to perform one of the biggest quests in science — searching for evidence of life beyond Earth.”

The Heart of What We Seek / China’s Chili Products Contain Cancer-causing Chemical / Friday: At School (Shakespeare Preparation)

The deep plight of our Human condition
results from being so starved
from experiencing unconditional Love,
that we become emotionally and physically and Spiritually
ill.

We have all known someone
so completely deprived of Love
that they gave up
on Life.

Unconditional Love
is at the Heart
of what we seek
throughout our brief lives.

Without such Love,
many studies have shown us
that infants, children and adults
develop severe cognitive and psychological dysfunction
or die.

 We simply MUST
find the pathway to unconditional Love.
Without it,
we will surely wither away.
Like the beautiful and precious plants
that do not receive
the Love of the Sun,
we become starved
and can no longer
survive.

Love
is the Light.

Such Love
is essential for our health.
And it is essential for our Spiritual well being.
Love is the goal of Life,
and God’s Beauty is the path
that leads to it.
Such Beauty
lies within
and all around.

               God’s Beauty is the path.

We all carry
the source of unconditional Love
deep within.
But if we fail

to keep feeling
this Love,
for ourselves and for others,
we simply wither away.
For Love without condition,
touches the deepest, most tender corner
of our Human Hearts.
And this Love
leads us to very Heart
of God.

Marianne Williamson “How odd that we spend so much time
treating the darkness,
and so little time seeking the Light.
We only get rid of darkness
by turning on the Light.”
Marianne Williamson, Tears to Triumph: The Spiritual Journey from Suffering to Enlightenment

Look for Beauty in our actions,
in what we do in our daily lives.
Enact the Beauty that we Love.
Find a deep sense of meaning,
Beauty beyond belief,
in unconditional Love,
and in Prayer.

Regardless
of what someone says or thinks or feels or does
or believes,
still Love them,
and Love them unconditionally.
Love other beautiful Creations such as the animals,
and Love your thoughts and dreams.
Love
yourself.

                 Beauty beyond belief.

Yes,
unconditional Love
can be found and felt
for ourselves.
The more we are able to Love ourselves,

the more we are able to Love others.
.
“When you accept yourself,
the whole world accepts
you.”

Lao Tzu

My Dear Friends,
unconditional Love
is the most healing force
in the Universe.
And please know
that what we Love,
we find Beautiful.

Unconditional Love
is the only thing in the entire Universe
that can enable and empower you
to experience the true joy
and peace
we so long for.
.
There are many ways

to find a deep sense of meaning
in the Beauty and the Love
that abounds all around.
One path

is to recognize the Beauty
in everyone,
and in everything.

What we Love, we find Beautiful.

The Holy Bible
tells us of the central role
that Love plays in our lives.
The description of God Himself is
that “God is Love”.
(1 John 4:16)
And
we are called upon
throughout His Precious Holy Word
to become perfected
in the Love of God.

My Friends,
we have Children to Bless,
wrongs to right,
Truth
to share and defend,
and Lives to devote
to others.

And
little time left
to do so.

Goodnight.

                Love other beautiful Creations.

China’s Chili Products Contain Cancer-causing Chemical

by VR Sreeraman on General Health News

A trade watchdog in China has detected a cancer-causing industrial dye in chili paste and red chili power products.
China’s Chili Products Contain Cancer-causing Chemical

Several supermarkets and factories in Hunan province have been punished for selling and producing the products dyed with chemical compound Rhodamine B, a banned food additive.

The Changsha Industrial and Commercial Bureau revoked the license of a company while a dealer was fined tens of thousands of yuan, the Shanghai Daily reported.

The dye was added in order to improve the appearance of the products.

Hunan cuisine is known for being dry-hot, as distinct from the numbing-hot flavors of Sichuan cuisine. However, both provinces have been hit by the dyed pepper scandal.

Rhodamine B was first detected in hotpot seasonings in Chongqing in March 2011.

The Most Beautiful One of All / Get Smart: Go Dirty. The advantages of getting down and dirty / Friday: At School

A Mother’s Love is from Above.

The Cradle of Life
is Love’s
Pure Light –
the Tide that caresses
the shores
of God’s Desire.

For a Mother’s Love,
is from
Above.
It is
God,
the Giver of Life,
sustainer of Love.

“God is
Love.”
1 John 4:8 and 1 John 4:16
and expressed many times in other Scriptures.

               The Tide that caresses.

All you need
to be truly happy,
is the Heart
of a Child.
And,
you have one.
We are ALL
Children of God.

Yes,
Birth is the beginning.
And death,
a sign
we carry on.
For deep
within the Human Heart,
dwells the Eternal
Soul.

In the swirling darkness,
nothing existed.
Space and time itself
were absent.
But in that place,
in which there was no space,
in a time without measure,
God existed,
and Will Exist.

God is not confined by space and time.
He simply is.
He exists beyond
all that we can know
or see.
Yes,
He simply is.
His Substance, His Nature, and very Being
is that of utter
simplicity.

His Being transcends all.
For He created reality
and filled our shell of existence
with the countless Stars,
Universes and Galaxies,
emerging from the simple words,
“Let it be.”

Eric Cockrell

“God is the power
between two hands that touch,

the birth of a child, the death of an old man.
the longing we were born with that drives us on…
the courage to enter the realm of the Heart.
true communion, true dialogue,
the bridge over our fears.
the wings of the sparrow,
the bud sleeping through winter.
the decision of Forgiveness,
that which is given without asking back.
the healing power of silence,
the Eternity in each moment.
God is diversity bound by responsibility.
the power of peace, the moment of listening,
the sound of your own Heartbeat calling you home.
the Spirit that inhabits the body
doing the work of compassion…
God simply ‘is’…”
Eric Cockrell

Yes,
our Creator thought
everything that is
into existence.
At the very core of reality,
and beyond the physical Universe.
it is the Mind of God
from which we emerged,
and we are
still emerging.

    Beyond the physical Universe.

We go to sleep
with the Dream,
and awake
with the reality,
we often think
is more
than a Dream.

But our Dreams
can also come alive,
when we close our eyes
to see,
a Vision of Humanity
the way
it should be –
with Love
in close proximity.

“My son,
give me your Heart
and let your eyes
delight in My Ways.”
Proverbs 23:26

    A Sunrise that can stay.

Within
the measure of
this Day,
lies a Sunrise
that can stay
sparkling in your eyes.
For the setting
of Love’s Sun
is never
to be realized.

“Your Sun will never set;
your moon will not go down.
For the LORD
will be your everlasting Light.”
Isaiah‬ ‭60:20‬

Only our Father
in Heaven Above
can count the Stars
at night,
and keep them
very bright.
And where
Earth and Sky meet,
there
we can find a Purity
of things:
for we are more
than Human,
we are Blessed Beings,
born of God,
and re-born
of a Savior.
We are,
and always will be,
Blessed.

God is the birth of a Child.

“Oh Lord
we pay the price with a

Spin of a wheel – with the roll of a dice.
Ah yeah, you pay your fare.
And if you don’t know where you’re going,
Any road will take you there.”
George Harrison

Countless,
are the Miracles
we as a species,
have seen.
and YOU,
my Friend,
are the most
Beautiful One
of all.

Goodnight.

Get Smart: Go Dirty

The advantages of getting down and dirty.

To prevent cancer, change early childhood education. Not the book-kind, but  the biologically intelligent kind. If you do, you might change the incident of type I diabetes, asthma, peanut allergies, and Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

That’s the conclusion drawn by Mel Greaves of the Institute of Cancer Research in London, and now many other researchers. Decades of varied studies demonstrate that the immune system learns in a specific way.  Give it the right education and it learns new ways that not just help fight cancer but prevent many major diseases.

The main teaching tool is dirt – especially dirty kids.

The ALL Story

Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) is very important in the history of oncology. Affecting primarily children, it was the first tumor to truly be “cured” by treatment, starting in the late 1950s. Now it’s pointing the way to not just cancer treatment, but prevention.

Greaves believes, and many agree, that ALL is environmentally regulated. But not by power plants and wires or internet use – by childhood play.

The idea is that ALL first starts with a mutation that affects perhaps five percent of kids. If they much later develop a certain kind of infection, generally a viral flu or cold, they develop another mutation which sets them up for ALL. But if in the first few years of life they encounter many kinds of infections, from adults and other children, and get to play in the dirt, they don’t get ALL.

Get the right infections at the right time, and you don’t get cancer. The immune system has to learn a trick or two, and it needs a dirty environment to do it.

And that’s not just true for ALL.

Exposure and Learning

It’s been known for a long time that kids on farms have far less asthma than city kids not exposed to the many antigens (immune stimulating substances) found in agriculture. For many years researchers were stumped by why MS was more common in affluent communities that poorer ones. Greaves looked at ALL and saw a familiar pattern: very low rates in the poorest countries with less fastidious early hygienic practices.

There were major outliers. One was Costa Rica. Not very rich, but with lots of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Type I Diabetes, and ALL.

But Costa Rica had spent much of his health dollars on an extensive health care system. With economic development, family sizes decreased by nearly seventy percent. There were a lot less siblings around, and much greater social pressure to maintain a “first world” kind of home.

So it was time to extend the hypothesis, and at animal experiments. Greaves and others created genetically modified mice with an ALL inducing mutation. Those kept in sterile conditions and let out in a “dirty” environment developed cancer. Those kept in normal conditions, did not.

This doesn’t mean all infants should immediately spend most of their lives in the community sandbox.

Smart Body

Biological Intelligence, how your body creates and uses knowledge, is a neglected subject. One reason is that most of biological learning does not involve language or books, or cognitive matters.  The textbook for your immune system, your heart, your lungs, your muscles, is the place where you live.  And most of that learning will not be conscious. Just as you don’t see your immune system destroy potentially fatal tumor cells, you don’t watch your arm muscles learn to throw a baseball.  Most of what goes on in your brain isn’t conscious.

Just vital to your survival and enjoyment of life.

ALL, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, asthma, MS, all seem to have a similar story to tell about biological intelligence. Their teachings include:

  1. You learn very different things in different environments, including “standard” cognitive learning. Putting students into three carrels to study for an economics test, rather than just one for the same study period, improved scores. Much of school learning is affected by “unconscious” environmental factors.
    .
  2. Sequence counts. Encounter a virus early in life and it may prevent you from getting MS when you’re forty.
    .
  3. Education starts at birth. Being around other infants does not just educate kids socially but immunologically, physically, and mentally.  Our sociality as a species has many health implications throughout our lives.
    .
  4. The present fascination with “germ free” environments can be overplayed. Bacteria and viruses are not just on table tops and kitchen sinks.  They’re everywhere. Outside of the many nasty pathogens found in hospitals that are now bacterially resistant, you may not need to scour your desks and doorknobs all the time. Our fascination with “germ free” environments may be creating more antibiotic resistance at a time when our antibacterial armamentarium is highly compromised.  And what really counts may not prove what pathogens we constantly run, but the robustness and flexibility of our immune response.
    .
  5. Perhaps the most important teaching is that health is learned. The environment changes, we change. All the actions of our lives are potential teaching moments.  All of them can make us smarter.

A smart body is often well served by exposure to many different environments, with different physical, mental, social and spiritual elements. That’s not just true of politics. It’s also part of what helps you survive.

The Dangerous Illusions We Perceive / The Longevity Diet / Sept. 4: Classes Resume

“It is because our own Human existence
is so dependent on the help of others
that our need for Love
lies at the very foundation
of our existence.”

Dalai Lama

                              Accept the Love of God.

Things
are rarely
as they appear
to be.

And
what is hidden,
what is missing,
cannot be focused upon
by the
Human mind.

We often
doubt
what we cannot see,
when up is down,
what is
may not be.

As we journey
through the multiplicity
of Life’s illusions,
our sense of reality
can become distorted.
Some moments
can become mirrored in madness.
Yes,
each year over one million
very precious Souls
are pushed
completely over the brink of sanity.
(click here and look deeply into the eyes of reality)

The illusions
packed into Life
are fomented by
perception and motion,
proximity,
and a myriad of other
dimensions of improbability.

This
has led some to conclude that,
“Life, itself,
may be an
llusion.”

If
the Universe doesn’t exist
when we stop looking at it,
then it is
hung only on the walls
of our perceived
awareness.

From our friends at dailymail.com:
A famous theory in quantum mechanics
argues that a particle’s past behavior
changes
based on what we see.

Now,
scientists have performed a new experiment
proving this theory to be true
on the scale of atoms.

‘It proves that measurement is
everything.
At the quantum level,
reality does not exist

if you are not looking at it,’
said Associate Professor Andrew Truscott.

Despite the apparent weirdness,
the results confirm the validity of
quantum theory.

Quantum theory governs the World of the very small,
and has enabled the development of many technologies
such as LEDs, lasers and computer chips.

But,
SOMETHING
animates all conscious
Beings.
No.
It is not
us.
That is another
very dangerous
ILLUSION.

It is LOVE!

The Love we seek
is reflect in Time.
If we open our eyes
to the illusions
of Life in living,
we may close them again,
and simply Love
in remembering.

L
O
V
E

Looking back,
we may forward see.
God’s Love
was always now,
and will forever be,
the Ever Ebbing Tide
of a deepening, endless Sea.

In each moment
the Love of God
will always be,
here and now,
the Mirror
of each moment to be.
For His Love
is Love,
Infinity.

The Love we seek is reflect in Time.

Our mentality is
very fragile and malleable,
much like
the reality
we think we see,
when we take the time
to look.

But,
the illusions we perceive
and desperately try
to understand,
can shatter the Lives
of our very fragile
Children
and ourselves.

As they and we
strive toward pleasing
so many others,
we can come to see
perfection
as the ultimate goal
of Life and living.

Is that the Moon or ME?

The total focus
is then upon
what is now
“ME”.
And that
is a very dangerous
place to be.
.
My Dear Friends,
everything
but
Love

is illusory.
And there is MUCH evidence
in quantum mechanics
and
the Holy Bible:

All that is in the World
(the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes
and the arrogance produced by
material possessions)

is not from the Father,
but is from the world.”
1 John 2:16
.
Ultimate Reality
is God,
and God is not just the essence of
Love,
HE  IS  LOVE.

“God is Love;
and he that dwelleth in love

dwelleth in God,
and God in him”.
1 John 4:16

.

YOU, too, are beautiful beyond Belief.

If you desire
to guide your precious
Child
toward sanity,
toward TRUTH,
and Life
and JOY,
Love your Child,
simply Love,
and ONLY Love.
.
Yes,
you may come to see
everything else in Life
and on Earth
is an illusion.
.
Those who give up
on Life
have felt abandoned
by the one reality
of Love.
.
If your child
looks into your eyes
and does not see
Love,
no,
it does not
exist.
.
Reality does not exist
if you are not looking at it.
.
EVERYTHING
is in
the Eye and Mind
of the Beholder.

.

Yes,
our need for Love
lies at the very foundation
of our existence.
.
My Precious Friends,
the JOY
you find in sharing
all the Love hidden
in your precious Heart,
can become their reason
for living.
.
The great Truths
are simple.

.
Ultimately,
the further we move
away from God
(Love)
the more endangered
WE
and our Children
become.
.
Let us keep Life
simple.
.
Accept
the Love of God.
And let it flow
through YOU
to everyone you meet.
.
Goodnight.
.

“Love is the fire
that warms our lives
with unparalleled Joy
and Divine Hope.”
– Dieter F. Uchtdorf

“God Is Love.”
John affirms that
“God is Love”
( 1 John 4:8 ).
God does not merely Love;
He Is Love.
Everything that God does
flows from his Love.

                        Everything.

“The sun comes up,
it’s a new day dawning.
It’s time to sing
Your song again
Whatever may pass,
and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing
when the evening comes.”

Matt Redman – Ten Thousand Reasons

          Eating what nature intended.

From our Friends at:
eco-friendly-africa-travel.com/longevity-diet.html

The longevity diet
is simply eating what nature intended us to,
thus ensuring a healthier and longer life.

Animals in the wild, eating their natural diet, live an average of ten times the number of years it takes them to reach maturity (Chimpanzee’s reach maturity by the time they’re five, and live to about fifty years, for instance).

Meanwhile, most humans’ lifespan is barely five times the number of years it takes to reach maturity.

The Longevity Diet: How long should we be living?

Steve Charter, in Eat More Raw: A guide for health and sustainability, cites Dr Joel Wallach, who emphasises the scientifically accepted view that the genetic potential for longevity in humans suggests we should live to around 120 to 140 years old.

Dr Wallach lists a few more cases to further support this, including Russian Georgians who commonly live to 120 and the Armenians and Ebkanians, where living to 140 is not uncommon.

He cites one Armenian who, from his military records, is thought to have lived to 167 years old, and the Titicaca Indians of south-east Peru who lived to between 120-140 years old. There’s also the case of the Niger chief who died at 126 with all his teeth, and a Syrian in the Guinness Book of Records who fathered 9 children after 80 and went on to live to 133.

Put into context, the average age for Americans was 75.5 years old in 1994. For doctors it was 58. Dr Wallach suggest that these figures suggest that there is great value in treating yourself (through nutritional and lifestyle changes), rather than putting your health in the hands of doctors.

If you think about it logically, the reason there’s such a difference in our lifespan (compared to chimpanzees or those who manage to live to a ripe old age) is that we are not eating our natural diet.

In this article I’ll discuss some of the longest-living tribes and what the commonalities are in terms of their diet and lifestyle, what I term the longevity diet.

“Bad men live that they may eat and drink,
whereas good men eat and drink
that they may live.”

Socrates

The longevity diet: Diet of the longest-living cultures

John Robbins, in Healthy at 100: The Scientifically Proven Secrets of the World’s Healthiest and Longest-Lived Peoples, describes the lifestyles and dietary patterns of the long-lived cultures of the Abkhasia of Southern Russia, the Vicalbamba Indians of the Ecuadorian Andes and the Hunza of North Pakistan.

He found that the percentage of calories they obtained daily was between 69-73% carbohydrates, 15-18% from fat and 10-13% from protein.

Overall daily calories ranged between 1,700 -1,800, while the Abkhasia ate 90% plant foods and the Vilcabamba and Hunza ate 99% plant foods.

All three ate low amounts of salt, zero sugar or processed food, and had no incidence of obesity and other common diseases.

He also discussed the Okinawa, who, though eating a more animal-based diet, had a similar lifestyle.

I highly encourage you to read this book, or if you need a taste of what it’s about, read this review of Healthy at 100, which includes a preview of the fascinating first chapter.

The longevity diet includes some common denominators. These are:

  • Diet including whole mostly vegan, organic food with minimal animal products and fat.
  • Vitamin D and exercise
  • Strong community values
  • Spirituality and a sense of purpose

The best six doctors anywhere
And no one can deny it
Are sunshine, water, rest, and air
Exercise and diet.
These six will gladly you attend
If only you are willing
Your mind they’ll ease
Your will they’ll mend
And charge you not a shilling.

Life is a Celebration / You are One With the Universal Mind / Electric Cars / Friday Trip: Modern Art Museum

In the face of EACH creature                                I see my Creator.

Our acts
of Human kindness
bring God’s presence
into our World.

In our search
for Truth,
Ultimate Truth,
we may one day discover
that the Love
felt deeply within
our Human Heart
IS
the very
presence of God.

Love
is a description of God,
because
God is Love.
This is what He is,
and what
He will always be.

Whoever does not Love
does not know God,
because God is Love.”
1 John 4:8

                                I am alive.

To proclaim
that I am alive
in every moment,
is
to absolutely know
that God is with you
each and every
day.

In that existential
time,
you will know
you are not
alone.
And this knowledge
can Enrich your Life
and Ennoble
death.

The shadow
of who you are
can never

reflect a lighter shade of pale,
if you choose
to Live,
giving all
you can give.

Stand up
for the Miracle you are.
Live in the Faith
God has in You.
And follow the Dream
that lies ahead,
the Dream
God has for
YOU.

Immortality
awaits me and you.

But the Vision and the Fire
of Life
is a Dream
yet unfulfilled.

Enrich your Life and Ennoble death.

Only
a free person
has the strength
to benefit
Humanity.
And
only a strong person
has the freedom
to free
others.

These attributes
emanate from
profound intellectual rigor,
suppleness of mind
and audacious
courage,
to loudly proclaim:
“I shall not
Live my Life
in vain.”

                             You are not alone.

Our History
offers glimpses of great
Heroism and Dignity,
which illuminate
the Human condition.
These moments
are precious in Time.
THEY
must be shared.

Do not be
inaccessible.
YOU
are what your child
truly possesses.
Ultimately,
you will be what,
in memory,
remains.

Open wide
the Heart.
The great Love
contained within
can only cast
a mere shadow,
if inside
you are burdened,
thinking,
“I am only
me”.

No.
YOU are every generation,
this day
and yesterday,
and all
there is to be,
from the beginning
of our Creation,
to the end.
You are
everyone
you know
or will ever meet.
YOU
are the greatest Gift
your child
will inherit,
or ever, ever see.

You
are the overarching
Miracle of Creation,
the all encompassing
Perfection
of Universal physical law,
reflect of the ALL powerful
Creative Force
that brought you
into Being.

God
has truly Blessed you,
far, far beyond Belief.

You are the overarching Miracle of Creation

My Friends,
we find Compassion
in the Knowledge
of God’s Eternal Embrace.
And we find Refuge
in the Shelter of God’s
Loving Grace.

This Love,
the Love of God
that dwells within,
is the Divine birthright
of ever generation
that ever was,
and remains.

Parents
are the instruments
of God
used to bring Life
into Being.
And our mission
is to parent with
God
in perfecting
the Beautiful Work
of His Creation.

Life
is a celebration,
a revolution,
a Divine Revelation.

Goodnight.

“Life in ALL its
forms,
is Sacred;
in the face
of EACH creature
I see my
Creator.”
– Rabi Lawrence Kushner

Life, in ALL its forms, is Sacred.

They say that when a man is born
– the sky is falling Soul
and breaks into two parts.
One part goes to the women
and one for men.
The meaning of Life
is to find the other half.
Catches of his own soul.”

You are One With the Universal Mind

By Tania Kotsos

There is a single, intelligent Consciousness
that pervades the entire Universe
– the Universal Mind.
It is all knowing, all powerful, all creative and always present.
As it is present everywhere at the same time,
it follows that it must also be present in you
– that it is you.
Your mind is part of the one Universal Mind.
This is not simply a philosophical ideal
passed down to us through the ages.
It is an exact scientific truth.
Know it, believe it, apply it
and you will see your life transform
in miraculous ways.

Albert Einstein told us that “everything is energy”;
that “a human being is a part of the whole
called by us [the] Universe”.
His words echoed the most ancient of Spiritual and philosophical teachings and still underpin today’s
cutting-edge scientific discoveries.

The Universal Mind goes by many names.
In the scientific world we know of the Unified Field,
in spiritual philosophy we refer to The All or Universal Consciousness and in religion we call upon God,
who Himself goes by many names.
The name is relevant only in so far
as it resonates with you.

Whichever way you cut it,
you come to this one unavoidable conclusion:
there is but One Consciousness
of which your consciousness must be a part
and “a part”,
as Charles Haanel said,
“must be the same in kind and quality as the whole,
the only difference being one of degree”.

The nature of the Universal Mind
is Omniscience (all knowing),
Omnipotence (all powerful),
Omnificence (all creative)
and Omnipresence (always present).

Know
that this too is
your nature.

ELECTRIC CARS
from revelationforex.com

Dyson, the engineering company best known for its vacuum cleaners and fans, plans to spend £2bn developing a “radical” electric car.

The battery-powered vehicle is due to be launched in 2020.

Dyson says 400 staff have been working on the secret project for the past two years at its headquarters in Malmesbury, Wiltshire.

However, the car does not yet exist, with no prototype built, and a factory site is yet to be chosen.

Sir James declined to give further details of the project. “Competition for new technology in the automotive industry is fierce and we must do everything we can to keep the specifics of our vehicle confidential,” he told staff in an email.

Important points that are undecided or secret include the firm’s expected annual production total, the cost of the car, or its range or top speed.

Sir James said about £1bn would be spent on developing the car, with another £1bn on making the battery.
Analysis: Richard Westcott, BBC transport correspondent

It was a slightly unusual launch, but then, Sir James Dyson likes to be different.

In a small room above his swanky London shop he told us about his vision for a clean car.

First up, we were treated to an old clip of Blue Peter, from the 90s, where Anthea Turner interviewed him about his new device to clean soot from the exhaust of diesel vehicles… it was the cyclone from his vacuum cleaner, put to a different use.

“That is how long I have wanted to do this,” he told us.

In fact he first hatched the idea in the late 1980s.

Since then, he has developed motors and batteries and now he is able to bring all that expertise together in a new, electric car.

He promised that it will be radical and different, because, as he put it, what is the point of making it like any other car?

And he promised that it will not be cheap.

I did ask how much it would be to put down a deposit… he told me he would have to think about it.

Further development work will take place at a former RAF base at Hullavington in Wiltshire, where staff will move to in February.

Sir James also said that his firm’s car would look “radical and different”, but will not be aimed at the mass market.

The motor is designed and ready to go, he said, but the firm is still designing the car.

Dyson’s decision means it is joining the rush within the global car industry to develop and make electric cars.

Some manufacturers such as Nissan, Tesla, Renault, BMW and Hyundai already manufacture them.

Others such as VW, Volvo, Mercedes, Honda and Jaguar Land Rover have announced plans to sell electric or hybrid versions of their existing petrol and diesel engine ranges.

VW, for instance, plans to spend 20bn euros (£17.5bn) by 2030 to develop its battery powered vehicles.

Sir James said he had been interested since 1990 in developing filtration technology to stop vehicle diesel emissions polluting the environment.

But as the motor industry had shown no interest in adopting this idea, he would instead join the fast-growing trend to make electric vehicles.
Analysis: Theo Leggett, BBC business correspondent

The electric car market is growing rapidly, but it is also about to become a lot more crowded.

Within the next few years, many new models are due to come on to the market, including Jaguar’s Ipace, Porsche’s Mission E, Volkswagen’s I.D. family and Mercedes’ EQ range. Tesla also has big plans for its recently launched Model 3.

They will be joining established models such as the Nissan Leaf, the BMW i3, the Renault Zoe and the Tesla Model S.

Dyson clearly sees an opportunity here. As new designs become available, and prices come down, more consumers will be willing to try electric vehicles.

Policymakers, concerned about air pollution, want them to do just that.

The big question is whether Dyson can muscle in on territory that the major manufacturers are already trying to make their own. And let’s not forget Google’s designs on the electric/self-driving market.

Tesla was able to build a new car brand from scratch, but only by producing a design which effectively moved the goalposts and changed people’s expectations of what an electric car could provide.

If Dyson wants to play with the big boys, it may have to pull off a similar trick.

Experience life in the beautiful way it was intended.

Deep, powerful knowledge
Is the key
To inspired thinking
and
Finding intelligent solutions
To problems.

And inspired awareness
Is the key
To a beautiful way
Of Life.

A richness in the texture of living.

Each of us,
In a very unique way,
Possess a pathway
For higher awareness
Of Love
And of living,
To experience our life
In the beautiful way
It was intended,
To change this life
And create new possibilities,
And revolutionize the way
We comprehend the complex
and mysterious place that is
The Galaxy
Of our Heart.

Shrouded by the dust of living,
We are able to be
Liberated through a view
Of Love.
We can remove the things if life
That block our vision
To the awareness of
Love’s presence.

For Love
Is your natural,
God given inheritance,
And it is there
For you to see,
It is there
For you

Let it be.

“Your arms reach out to me

From all care,
for it knows
there are no gloomy skies

– Max Steiner

There is no need
To let sorrow abound,
To enter your life
And go
Around and around,
From beginning to beginning,
In a perpetual motion
That you keep
Spinning.

“Like a circle in a spiral,
like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning
on an ever spinning reel
As the images unwind,
like the circles that you find in
The windmills of your mind!”

To truly harvest life,
Search for the intensity

Which go beyond this moment,
Beyond what we think and imagine,
Beyond things as they are,
To what they can be,

The Miraculous application of Love
Is a balm on every wound.
And as we begin to understand
More deeply
Why love is such a necessary element
In the healing of the world,
We need do no more

Something remarkable
In Matthew 17:20:

“If your Faith were the size
Of even the smallest of seeds,
The mustard bush,
We would be able to
Move Mountains.”

Your faith

Revolutionize the way we understand our Hearts.

My Dear Friends,
Faith,
And the mountain,
Are within.

“You are given
the gifts of the Gods,

you create your reality.”
– Jane Roberts

We are beings
Of a very fragile
And a very human
Dimension and degree,
But with a Faith
That can move mountains.
Faith
Can also move us
To
Love one another.

We not only have the strength,
Through Faith,
To Love each other,
We have the Commandment:
‘You shall love your neighbor
as yourself.’
– Mark 12:28-31

I have always felt
That Love was misunderstood.
Love is not
An unusual, abnormal,
Infrequent state of being.

Love
Created us.
It is who we are,
What we are doing
And where we are going.
It
Is our destiny.

I felt
So deeply Loved
As a child.
I cannot remember feeling
Anything but Love,
In the presence of
My precious Mother,
Marie.

“It doesn’t matter who you love,
or how you love,
but that you love”
– Rod McKuen

We have, essentially,
Three types of understanding,
Empirical, philosophical and
Spiritual.

Yes,
Mankind has entertained in his mind
A philosophical
And an empirical beginning.
But the beginning
Of beginning,
Was a Spiritual Birth.

My Dear Friends,
The question is NOT:

“Who am I?”
but rather,
“Whom do I have
the freedom to be?”
– Philip J. Mancuso

God fosters the Spirit of freedom.
He knows that the Human Spirit
Requires freedom
.

And the more disciplined we are,
The more freedom we have.

Sin limits our future choices.
Drugs and alcohol and tobacco
Quickly become addictions.
They become the master
And we, the unaware slave.

Abuse of your precious freedom
Will paralyze your life,
And remove tomorrow
From the landscape
Of your every
Desire,
Your every dream.

“If freedom of speech is taken away,
then dumb and silent we may be,
led like sheep to the slaughter.”
  – George Washington

Yes,
Every day we make choices

That determine our destiny.
Each day
God gives us
A most beautiful gift
,
A God like quality:
Freedom,
To think,
To choose,
To be.

“But to every man there openeth,
A high way and a low,
And every mind decideth,
The way his soul shall go.

One ship sails East,
And another West,
By the self-same winds that blow,
‘Tis the set of the sails
And not the gales,
That tells the way we go.”
– Ella Wheeler Wilcox

            Truly harvest life.

God gave us Life
And Love,
To you and to me.
And it is a Life
And Love so
Beautiful,
And so powerful,
It is,
My Friends,
Beyond

” Go more deeply into your heart
and feel yourself expand.
Get as large as the universe.
Feel your connection to all things.
Let that connection hold you and Love you.
Become the Universe.”

Bergamot is a small, pear-shaped citrus fruit
that grows on small trees that are cultivated
almost exclusively in coastal regions of southern Italy.
Bergamot essential oil, made mainly from the peels,
is very aromatic and commonly used in
aromatherapy and perfumery.

Is bergamot becoming
an alternative to statin drugs?

Researchers conducted a study using
a higher dose of bergamot extract
as a substitute for statins in 32 patients
who could not tolerate statins due to the side effects
of these drugs.

After stopping statins for 2 months,
they took 500 mg of bergamot extract in capsule form
three times a day for a total of 1500 mg per day.
After 30 days, the average reduction in total cholesterol
was 25%, with an average 27.6% reduction in LDL cholesterol.
There was no re-appearance of side effects.

Love can never return to the hand you never extend.

More than success,
Far, far more than victory
In Love and Life,
Is our belief
In ourselves,
To say
What is in our Hearts,
To do
What we know
To do,
And Love
Without condition
Everything and everyone
Around us.

For God’s Love
Is in every living thing.
And they love Life
Too.

“The bird, the weed and burrowing worm
are more than they seem
for, in truth,
they outline the invisible, crystalline
texture of the living planet.
Their bodies in space-time
are literally part
of the geometry of the Earth,
the track each one makes
throughout its life
defines a kind of
invisible fiber of Creation.”
– Guy Murchie

God’s Love is in every living thing.

My Precious Friends,
Love can never return
To the voice
Never heard,
To the song
Never sung,
To the hand
You never extend,
To the Heart
No one knew
Was beating for them.

             They love Life too.

Every Human Heart
Is whispering
The name of someone
It Loves.

We see far, far beyond
What our eyes behold,
Envisioning reflections
That mirror
The longings
Of a lost
And lonely Soul.

“All the oceans in the world,
can never hold the tears cried.”

But,
There is a greater Good,
A cause unknown
To the feeble mind of mankind,
A Voice from Above,
From another Heart
That will never leave us
All alone.

    Love comes in many dimensions.

And where, oh where
Is Love?

Love is always
Coming home,
Searching,
Always searching,
For the way back
To the Heart
That was its
Own.

“I don’t want the heavens
or the shooting stars.
I don’t want gemstones or gold.
I want a steady hand, a kind soul.
I want to fall asleep and wake,
knowing my heart is safe.
I want to love,
and be loved.”

– Shana Abe

   Love is always coming home.

Dear Friends,
The greatest adventure
Of the Human Spirit
Is discovering the way
Back,
To the Love
That gave it Life,
To the Heart
That never left it all alone,
The Heart
Never really seen,
Never truly known.

And the pathway back,
Will lead you
Through a valley unknown,
Past shadows of doubt,
And clouds of despair.
Yes,
It needs to be shown.

“So we have come to know
and to believe
the love that God has for us.
God is love,
and whoever abides in love
abides in God,
and God abides in him.”
– 1 John 4:16

The Heart that never left it all alone.

Love
Comes in many dimensions.
And True Love
Can be unrequited,
Never understood,
Never accepted
By the beloved,
Who may not be aware
Of such deep
And abiding
Affection,
Or consciously reject it,
Never knowing,
Never beholding
The Sacred, deeply fulfilling
Glow of being
In the Flower of Life,
Never feeling
The Warmth of truly
Unconditional Love.
Never understanding
That this Love
has
A reason for being.

Such Love
As God
Feels for you.

                              Enough with the toxic chemicals!

From our friends at NaturalNews.com:

Every time you shower and shampoo with a toxic commercial product, you are opening the pores of your scalp with hot water, then driving those toxic chemicals into your skin by scrubbing your scalp.

This is why it’s so important that your shampoo and shower soap be exceptionally clean and free from toxic, synthetic chemicals that we all know promote cancer, dementia, kidney disease and liver disorders.

Most commercial shampoos are made in chemical factories, using cheap, toxic ingredients that ultimately harm your hair, your skin and your health. Popular brands almost never use quality ingredients because it’s simply too expensive for them to do so.

Natural and organic ingredients derived from plants are far more expensive than cheap, factory-made chemicals. Because we are all bathed in synthetic chemicals every day, it is important to reduce your chemical load as much as possible. The new Health Ranger’s Shampoo delivers nourishing, plant-based ingredients that help you feel calm and comfortable, knowing that you’re doing much more than just washing your hair – you’re also keeping your body clean of unnecessary synthetic chemicals.

This shampoo feels fantastic and has a silky texture and viscosity. It’s made with the finest organic coconut, olive and sunflower oil so it’s great to use as often as needed because it contains no harsh chemicals. It can even be used as a full body wash on adults and children.
