Emerson observed:
“Though we travel the world over
to find the beautiful,
we must carry it with us
or we find it not.”

Please allow me to share the thoughts
of a man I deeply admire. His writings have
changed many lives, including mine,
and brought about a deep and personal
awareness and precious insights that
could only have come from God.

John Muir
was America’s most famous and influential
naturalist, conservationist, author,
environmental philosopher,
early advocate of wilderness preservation
helping to establish Yosemite and Sequoia
National Parks
and founder of the Sierra Club.

He experienced in nature
a religious ecstasy.
Before the Majesty of natural beauty,
he found himself humble
before the power of God
who created it all.

      The wilderness in the Human Soul

Muir learned to read
from the Divine Manuscript,
the rocks and the trees.
He came to discover complete freedom
and had experiences that
seemed timeless and devoid of space.
He felt his body had no weight.
“Life seemed neither long nor short,” he wrote,
“and we take no more heed to save time
or make haste than do the
trees and stars.

He entered the Eternal now
and experienced days
that seemed to have
neither end nor beginning.
John discovered an immortality,
and experienced himself
dissolved into the landscape.

                        God’s first temples

Muir experienced
the inter-relatedness of all things,
the union of rocks and clouds,
the humanness of the landscape,
the wilderness in the human soul,
a kinship with the wild Nature
he grew to love,
a oneness.
One of my favorite thoughts
from John is this:

“A few minutes ago every tree was excited,
bowing to the roaring storm, waving, swirling,
tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm like worship.
But though to the outer ear these trees are now silent,
their songs never cease.

Every hidden cell is throbbing with music and life,
every fiber thrilling like harp strings,
while incense is ever flowing
from the balsam bells and leaves.

No wonder the hills and groves
were God’s first temples,
and the more they are cut down and hewn
into cathedrals and churches,
the farther off and dimmer
seems the Lord himself.”

Muir wrote of being struck by
how clean nature is.
All plants are clean;
all animals are clean.
Of all the living things on the planet,
mankind alone seems dirty.

“The wilderness is a natural place
to consummate the longings
of the Soul.”

“We are now in the mountains
and they are in us,
kindling enthusiasm,
making every nerve quiver,
filling every pore and cell of us.
Our flesh-and-bone tabernacle
seems transparent as glass
to the beauty about us,
as if truly an inseparable part of it.”

  Humble before the power of God

My dear friends,
we are a part
of everything around us.
We are truly
one.
And we are
One with God.

Have I ever felt the way
John Muir describes
his feelings?
Yes, my friends,
Many times,
daily.
And I feel very deeply
that the greatest gift
I could ever convey to you
Is the message found
in the writings of
John Muir.

Please discover
who you are,
and why.
Take time
to say a Prayer
in the unbelievably beautiful
Cathedral of God’s Heart.
You will find it
beneath a sky
filled with a Grace
you cannot deny.

The peace
your precious Heart
longs for
is waiting patiently
for you.
Now you know

Cellphones Really Are Giving You
Cancer

Multiple studies have revealed
that cell phone radiation can cause cancer.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer
classified radio frequency fields ,
including those from cell phones,
as a possible carcinogen in 2011? (source)

The dangers of cell phone use
gained credibility in 2011
when the World Health Organization
admitted that cell phone radiation
may cause cancer.

from 14 different countries,
after reviewing evidence.

Studies like this serve one major purpose:
to remind us that we should be using
common sense and knowledge
to better protect ourselves
and our precious children
each day.

The SAR can be misleading as it measures the maximum radiation a cellphone emits and does not reflect the average amount of radiation it emits. There is accumulating evidence that cellphones that operate on GSM networks emit significantly more radiation than do cellphones operating on CDMA networks.

CDMA, or Code Division Multiple Access, is the type of cellular network used by the phone companies Verizon and Sprint. GSM, or Global System for Mobile Communications, is the type used by AT&T and T-Mobile.
